i doubt if Nigeria's military budget is up to a billion dollars but could be one of the highest in Africa both in numbers and military financial budgets

honeric01: But where is Israel on the list?
Even north Korea is 4th in the world and the biggest (Man power) in the world with their "population", hmmm i see why they are ready for war and always ready to make trouble with anyone.

9 million+ in total? even America, China and India don't have that. shocked
you think say na by population ni? If na by numbers Germany would not ve been able to almost take over the whole of Europe.
Politics › Re: World's Ten Largest Militaries-photos by rhymz(m): 10:56am On Mar 28, 2013
The America is still by Far the strongest with Budgets that run into trillions of Dollars. China may have the largest Military in terms of size but when it comes to military Might, China is still far behind countries like US, Britain, Russia and even Germany. You dont need a large military to be a superpower, all you need is a superior military manpower with catastrophic effects on action. The US will nuke the whole of China in a matter of days if there was to be a confrontation between the two countries. 700billion is a reduction from the trillions it used to be due to sequestration military cuts of the Obama administration. Their war heads alone do not need pilots they cause havoc from their base stations in the US with speeds close to that of light and sound, China, North Korea and India dey learn but it will take them eternity to near such budgets just for military.

Only oil investors are pumping masive cash in to nigeria. And they rob that money from nigeria paying the guys on top to turn a blind eye.
that is not true not neccessarily true. Yes, there is a lot of investment in the oil and gas but there is also significant investment in other aspect of our economy especially manufacturing. Here in the east, a lot of home grown factories are springing up, from paints, vegetable oil processing industry, car battery manufacturers, Sabmiller, plastic motor parts manufacturing, LPG plants, Lubrication plants, rice mills and many like that, not to talk of the ones in Lagos and industrial cities like Ibadan, Kano and kaduna. I believe that with power generation improvements, Nigeria will be a more attractive market for investors than RSA. Our Population and market size is a big advantage even RSA companies know this fact.

dailywealth1967: If giving Amnesty to Boko Haram would stop these senseless killings in the north, let them be given these amnesty. The greatest mistake we can make is to continue depending on our security gents. They cannot succeed 100 percent of the time.I ask, what can make a man ready to die a horrible death by blowing himself up ,inflicting pains, destructions & deaths of fellow nigerians around him?
We have seen that Boko Haram doesnot issue threats, they act and we see in the dailies our leaders condemning their acts without viable solutions.I ask,how can OPC protect children in schools, market places, motor parks,Churches, mosques?
It is the poor and downtrodden that are the casaulties. The Government of the day doesnot care if people die inasmuch that it doesnot affect their type. Please,i ask that we plead with Jonathan to grant BH amnesty and lets see what happens after.Release, their members from various jails in Nigeria.
My Friend you are not making any sense with such a suggestion. So in other words you want Murderers to be padorned and showered with gift of money in other for them to stop their crime, right? What happens if another group in another region take example from them and tow that line, we give them amnesty too?
It is only in Nigeria we see ediotic politicians coming out to suggest that government give amnesty to a murderous group with no clear intents of their goals besides the fact that they want everyone to be of thesame religious persuation with them.
No serious government negotiate with Terrorists and criminals, doing so will encourage and give rude impetus to potential criminals and murderers. Besides, there is no guarantee that amnesty will solve the BokoHaram menace, they have got countless splinter groups that take orders from no one but the many different leaders of their inner circles. Asking for the easy way out or a quick fix to fight terrorism is tantamount to postponing the evil day for later, it is only a matter of time before it resurfaces again. You will be decieving yourself if you conclusively think that militancy in the Niger Delta is a forgone threat, wait until somebody outside the eastern region seizes to be the one in Aso Rock then we will visit that one again.
Even the almighty US with all its sophisticated weaponry and jaw breaking defence budgets has not been able to fight off terrorism in its occupied territories of the middle, same for isreal let alone Nigeria with home grown terrorists whose attacks and focus have largely been at home and in their place of origin, the north. The JTF will continue to fight and do its job, that is the fact, any one that expects Jonathan to do with the North what OBJ did in Bayelsa or the Middlebelth is an insane killer himself. This is war, no retreat no surrender, the moment you learn to walk with such mindset in dealing with the Bokoharam menace the better.
There will be no Amnesty for Killers, if you are scared, go to church or Mosque, stop shouting amnesty, it is annoying.

dondada1: The question is..How flat is the South African economy compared the Nigeria's:: The projection that the Nigerian economy on paper looks good might just be another myth...Lets also keep in mind that South Africa is a member of the dreadful power 5 the BRICS nation which happens to have china in it.

And so we should not only be at the mercy of one business day journalist or the projected statistics conducted with a few markets.

I am not saying Nigeria will not exceed South Africa, But we as a people still have much more to do in comparison.
I don't seem to get your point Mr. What has being a member of the BRICS got to do with evident dwindling economic fortunes of RSA. When did that become a factor for determining the health of an Economy? And who is talking about Nigeria exceeding RSA? Read the article well before jumping off to criticize. The RSA economy is still bigger than Nigeria's, no doubt. What the article or report is discussing is economic projections based on reforms and how they are affecting the outlook of these two countries, unless you want to doubt the statistical figures then there is nothing here to argue about.

AjanleKoko: There is significant truth in the report anyways. The South African economy is flat right now, and most investors from that country are pushing to move into Nigeria.

There are lots of opportunities to invest in Nigeria, due to the teeming population, the resource wealth, and infrastructure deficit. And the governments right now (State and Federal) seem to be pushing for development right now.
I like your honesty, you don't even have to like JEG to acknowledge that there is a tangible effort towards development and it is gradually yielding fruits albeit not at the desired pace we all want. I wish people can be more sincere with their criticisms of this government at times.

I think the report was made based on recent discussions(perhaps separayely or randam comparisons) on trends in Nigeria economic outlook and the emerging economic difficulties of the RSA economy caused by laxed economic and fiscal policies of the ANC-zuma led government.
I don't think it was done in bad taste, Nigeria and RSA have always been fair economic competitors in Africa, it is only natural for such comparison to come up every now then or would you rather we use small ghana. . .lol

You don't have to take my "common sense" statement as an insult, it was just for effect. Sorry if you felt insulted.
Regarding the reprisal attack that greeted the Bauchi Killing of IGBO sons and daughters, that reaction was very natural and honestly, it was expected but even at that, such reaction only further extended the number the number of innocent bystanders and casualties, it has not stopped bokoHaram from launching their attacks against Igbo, neither has it stopped Igbo people in the north and Hausa people in East from living their lives and facing their challenges head-on.
What that illiterate retarded Gani Adams is saying is tantamount to a threat on the lives of innocent Hausa people residing in the SW, as if BokoHaram gives a damn about those innocent Hausa people.
I will be the last person to canvass or support any moronic Igbo leader that will advocate that we haunt and kill hausa people here in Owerri that I am, people that don't cause me any pain or loss, for what na?abeg people should desist from such inflamatory statements. You probably have never been to the north before. You probably should visit Kaduna and Kano alone, am not even going to add up the other northern states, these two northern states have a very high Yoruba population from Ibadan and Osun state especially. They will be needing all the help they can get if any OPC tout dare kill one hausa person a way to defend the Yoruba people against BokoHaram.
If you have any sense at all, you will consider them before unsheathing your sword. You think SouthEasterners that have been most hit by the BH menace have not thought of doing such before? We know it will amount to nothing killing an Hausa man that is busy here in the east with his own business and struggles. We know from experience that it will backfire as there are way more Igbo families in the North than there are in the whole of the eastern region, why risk their safty just on an ego ride to prove we are not weak, that's absurd.

which OPC is ranting? These igbo smoking and shekpe drinking ruffians with the heart of a chicken na im wan defend Lagos? With what exactly? Blunt matchets and egg bombs and petty charms?
How exactly do they intend to defend Lagos? Through reprisals on innocent Hausa people?
Seriously, the mob mentality in Yoruba followership is begining to give impetus to every Jester to assume to speak for the Yorube tribe.
Killing innocent Hausa people is not a form of defence, somebody should tell Mr Moronic Adam, he seem to want attention by all means, no wonder serious Yoruba leaders are not paying him any mind.
Anyone that thinks killing innocent Hausa people in Idiara, Apapa and the likes is an act of courage is an ediot that should not be taken seriously. There are tonnes of Yoruba people in Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Adamawa and many other Northern states, may be those morons in OPC should remember them before making inflamatory statements just for effects and attention. BokoHaram menace is not some form of tribal fight with the people involved revealing themselves in the process, their method of attack leaves everyone in the vicinity dead including themselves. You don't fight a sect like that by killing men from their tribes cos they will gladly do so if those same men openly went against them.
Yoruba leaders and the likes of Tinubu and Adams need to be carefull with their sychophant utterances, politicizing the the kind of crimes that BokoHaram commits and downplaying them as minor is a slap to those innocent victims, let alone prescribing a niger-deltan styled amnesty. It is like that ediotic Tinubu has lost all sense of morals in his sychophantic pursuit for power, he is ready to tell his masters anything they want to hear to win their support including trivilizing the havoc that the BH sect has been wrecking. He that refuses to listen should be made to feel it. Yoruba leaders need to stop some of these stunts they pull to curry favour from the north, winning elections and being in the opposition does not neccessarily grant you some political genius or a clean moral slate. The erratic nonsense they say at different fora indirectly gives impetus and some kind of tacit justification to the BH sect and their wicked act. On what ground will the BH sect be given amnesty? What exactly is the injustice they are fighting for; killing innocent by-standers in cowardly attacks and hiding at the borders is no cause.
How can anyone in their right senses label what Bokoharam does as minor and call for them to be spoilt silly with gifts of money and sorts. Na the kind politicians way majority of SW people dey follow be this? No wonder APC is dead on arrival, with desperados like this one who will want to join.
Yoruba people make una use una head and call ina elders to order when they go about inflaming the country just to curry favour, that style of politics is defeatist and does no one any good. Enough of the follow follow abeg!

outside his Orlu zone. All he does is to go and dance with market women, buying and chewing roasted corn by the roadside, claiming to be the man of the people. But Imo eeople are too wise to be led astray. He can't deceive all.[/quote ]
you obviously are not in Owerri or any part of Imo state. Agbaso and his brother are learners. Rochas might be deceptive o but when it comes to getting the jobs done, he has been delivering it without qualms.

shymexx: Hell yeah, you live it with mental illness - hence why you're a candidate for sectioning in a village hut... grin

I probably contribute more to the Nigerian economy than you do - and I've got a blog with more than 100,000 views about Nigerian and African history... Get on my level, mate...

And out here, I volunteer every Saturday for 4 hours to counsel young offenders in juvenile prisons - can you do that?? Just go take your prozac dosage, mate - you're inconsequential!! Inconsequential in the scheme of things in your family, village, state, region, country, continent, and the world - what a waste of spermatozoa!! Your mum should have swallowed you and save the human race another neanderthal masquerading as a humanoid!!
. . Lol . .
You seem to think that because you reside in an American ghetto you are prolly living better than everyone else outside America and europe?
Spare us that slave man mentality, go do your presummptious bosting to some lowlife that has not seen and lived better or travelled out of this country, there are countless better places I can choose to live, "my village" being part of it, so long as I am happy and fulfilled there. I do not wish to live your mediocre life American or not; who wants to be a lowlife American? No be me abeg!
I would rather live well here in Nigeria in "my village" purposefully and in full happiness without wants and lack. It is obvious that most of the times you contribute, you do it from the point of ignorance and knowledge gained from random reading of books. Outside that you, you are a riffraff trying so hard to claim what you are not just so you can comment and fit in as genuin.
As for contributions to the Nigerian economy, it will take a riffraff like you a life time to achieve half of what I have put in in this country, don't compare the pittance you send to your poor relatives and folks to my investment here, you silly ruffian.
As for your so-called 4-hour, saturday volunteering work, you did not tell us if it was a compulsory communtiy service to serve as punishment for one of your many "American juvenile vices".
Ewu hausa!

shymexx: Lmao.. I've never denied that I grew up out of the concrete... However, I'm from the school of thought where we also question people just ascertain if they're about that life, or not...

Out here, we don't follow the crowd, or believe in the status quo or what the 95% savages of the world believe in - we question people... That's supreme consciousness!!

However, I'm not trying to sound cocky, but are you as gifted as me?? grin I'm the original black man - and I don't take everything at face value.. wink
Gifted as you? God forbid!
I don't do drugs or impregnate young impressionable girls irresponsibly. In my culture, we don't consider such vices as gifts, go and find something immitable to boast about.
By the way, your irrelevant opinions do not matter in the scheme of things both in the ghettos where you are and in Nigeria. And I don't intend to discuss Nigeria or Africa with you, you read about it and I live it; go figure the difference.

shymexx: I have read the book - a masterpiece... However, I didn't get the same kind of feelings I got from reading Chancellor Williams' "The Destruction of Black Civilization" and Cheikh Anta Diop's "Precolonial Black Africa."

Heck, whenever I need inspiration in life as an African - all I need to do is just look at my copies of these books - and I'll get inspired...

Anything else?
hahahah. . . So now you are African, ekwa? Next you go become African America or a blackman and will highlight the difference too. Confused ignorant charlatan parading like he knows anything.

The Ediot obviously is not a Nigerian either, prolly one of those self-hating blacks in the ghettos of America doing drugs and all sorts and blaming everyone else but themselves.

Are you dyslexic, or just allergic to being coherenthuh?

You started the name-calling, now you're back-tracking after getting back the energy you gave out..

Get a life!
name calling?
I only gave a vivid description of you. You are ghetto and it shows in the way you comment with stupifying doses of ignorance and bigotry. I wont expect a crackhead in the ghettos of America to have respect for an Icon like Achebe, it is typical of ghetto kids to irrationally detest achievers and naturally gifted people that believe in the results of hardwork and taking the pains to achieve it as opposed to ediotas like you that believe results come from aggression and barrel power.

all4naija: Are you calling me a moderator!? Jeez! This guy is hallucinating on something or he is been stoned!
Well, it does not change the fact that you are shameless and should not be taken seriously. The only time you show respect to people and attempt to be objective on issues is when you want to support a Yoruba person whether he is good or bad, a trait common with many unexposed southwesterners that seem to think Nigeria begins and ends with Yoruba, its people and terrotories.
