Crixina: i agree wit ur post, but nt wit the part that says calabar roast their fufu,we dnt,i can tel u da process frm when the cassava is brot frm the farm, till when it is served for lunch with hot 'afang or edikanikong soup'but let me spare u da details by just saying we stir the paste in a pot after mixing with a moderate quantity of water, kind of like stirring ur semovita.Yeah, you right about that. . . Infact, the calabar method of stairing it in a hot pot is the widely used method, that was what I referred to as roasting. . Lol. .dont mind my lack of proper description jare. And like I said, easterners have got way more array of soups to eat their fufu than ghanaians-from the mainstream Igbo soups to the mainstream calabar soups like you mentioned already (afang and oha soup are my favourite soup for fufu) not to talk of those other kalabari and midwest soups. If there is one thing nobody can take away from the peoples of the eastern region, it is their array of soups and cooked foods. |
A few years ago, there were reports about how Oyedepo was planning to float a company, Diamond airlines and all that crap these crooks do in the name of God, nobody questioned the legality of doing such. If you are not familiar with the racketeering that goes on in the Nigerian aviation please don't come up here to spew sentimental bullcrap. More than 70% of Nigerian owned aircraft are not registered with the NCAA for reasons that are to some extent dubious and frivolous, most of them are registered in SA and the U.S. As if that is not enough, they give these jets that are supposed to be "private" to airline operators for commercial uses while dodging away from taxes. Little wonder clerical rogues like Oyedepo saw the need to get four of them, he was busy doing business with them and profiteering by circumventing the weak aviation laws of Nigeria, yet these are the rogues that stand on the pulpit to talk about God and honesty yet non of his four jets are registered with NCAA. Now that the ministry has decided to take decisive steps to deal with them, them wan begin run mouth. . . |
GH Swagg: About the bolded... My brother don't even go there ooo! That one no be true!hahahahah. . . Trust me dude, Fufu is a general term for Akpu, in Nigeria only Igbos call it Akpu, it is also popular with calabar people and they probably have a name for it as well but in general terms, it is reffered to as Fufu. Go and ask Ghananaians that have tasted our soups, trust me, Ghana soups come a distant behind in comparison. Go to NL food section and see some of our soups, there is a reason many of them are mainstream and cut across tribes in Nigeria. |
GH Swagg: My friend what you just described are two different foods. One is called fufu and the other akpu. You have tasted both and confirmed that they are not the same in terms of texture and taste. You made it clear that what Ghanaians call fufu doesn't taste and feel like akpu. So it makes sense that they have different names.so in order words, all ghanaian fufu taste alike, even the ones made from plantain abi? Guy, lets not turn english on its head, what we are saying is that the varient we eat here even though may be generally known as fufu but it has nothing to do with Ghana or borrows its origin from Ghana. Fufu as it is reffered to in Ghana and every other part of west Africa is not tied to any one tuber semi-solid paste, it is a general term used to describe them unlike in Nigeria where it solely describes akpu. No nigerian can mistake Akpu with those other varients they still call fufu, yet they all known as fufu. |

scobaba: So I shud be shy and mugu-like to be called a taurus?lol. . Ted Bundy That guy was some disturned guy that went on a killing spree of blond babes that looked like his ex-galfriend. Smart and good looking though. Mike Adenuga is just being your average typical nigerian baws with oversized egos and misplaced pride. The man is annoying, his staff does not even like him for real, the nigga scares the shit outta everyone when he is around. He is known for a quick temper and brash style of repremand, the party was prolly an eye-service move to win his attentiom knowing how difficult and arrogant he is to get along with, especially when you are just an employee. |
londoner: Seriously.....what do ghanaians think other Africans have been doing with their cassava or yam all these years? My sister you could'nt have said it any better o. . . i am realy surprised at the general level of ignorance shown especially by Nigerians on this thread. Akpu that is a common staple na alaigbo and eaten with soups, some of which I doubt non-easterners have even seen before, na im Ghanaianians come here dey claim say they invent or we copied it from them. . Lol. . Wetin person no go hear from My Ghana coleagues sef. This one sef one turn to azonto? Tomorrow sef dem go begin tell us say mmai ngwo, ugba, Abacha, nkwobi and the likes na ghana food. How we even take sure say dem never claim eba or garri as Ghanaian food. And some dude dey hear dey shout wiki wiki, forgetting wiki is an open source website, I can tell the whole world on wiki that I am smarter than Eistein and wiki go just bone up and still paste my delusions, does not change the facts any eeediots can be anything on wiki, no serious scholar take information on wiki seriously cos it is an open source site for every tom dike and Akrika. |
Let's get something straight here: Fufu is not Ghanaian or has its origin in Ghana. I am Igbo and know that fufu inlike highlife is a cultural thing in my place, it has existed way before Ghana or Nigeria were known as countries, it is like somebody saying pounded yam is Ghanaian. In Igbo land we don't even call it fufu, we call it Akpu japu, and we prepare it very differently from those varient I see ghanaians eat, ours is strictly done with cassava, aint no such thing as plantain or Yam fufu, strictly japu (cassava). Ghanaians generally call sticky pastes made from tuber plants and plantain fufu which to me is very different from ours, so no need to make claims that have very obvious differences, the only thing they can make claim to is probably the name fufu, we actually do not call it fufu but Akpu and am sure calabar people have their own name for it as well. But to claim that we learnt it or stole the art from you guyz is to push the boundaries of ignorance, no Igbo man or easterner learnt the art of eating or making fufu or Akpu from any external source let alone from Ghana, that food is as cultural and customary to Igbos like the breaking of kolanuts for after prayers or to entertain visitors. So you all can stop arrogating it to yourselves. |
Kajina: Yes my sis I'm Ghanaian. In Ghana we have different types of fufu, but I'll rather keep the recipes secret since some folks are now claiming ityeah right. . . Wait until you see real Nigerian fufu or Akpu. Trust me Ghanaians don't eat Fufu better than Igbos or Calabar ppl. It is a common staple associated with them in Nigeria. We dont use plantain or whatever, strictly cassava. And igbos do it quite differently from Calabar that roast theirs. We have the best soups for fufu than ghanaians trust me on that. |
torgbe: nah,jux wanna have fun on da thread,bt have u confirmed da origin...GHANAIAN CREATIVITYGhanaians and their knack to claim everything, scheeew. Fufu is not ghanaian neither is it Nigerian, it is generally eaten by many people in West African, I doubt Ghanaians eat it more than the Easterners in Nigeria let alone make such preposterous claims. And don't be using wikipedia as a verifiable source, any idiont can post information there and edit it as they want, it does not make their claims true. Fufu does not have its root in Ghana biko. . This is not high-life music or Azonto. |
dayokanu: In January go to the bus park in Enugu and see how many people are on their way to the SW either Ibadan or Lagoshahahah. . . Dayo as usual always sound far-fetched and misinformed. Go to Jibowu, Maza maza, BolaDale parks where one can easily get buses going to the East, my dear the volume of traffic there outweighs the minute crowd going to Ibadan or any part of the SW. . Lol. . May be that is indicative of the fact that outside of Lagos, the real villages are found in your region even though you lots like to first shout and call other regions' towns and suburbs villages, I have been to Ibadan before, apart from that Bodija area, there is nothing there to boast about. And talking about Igbos in poverty is a little strange to the ears of the informed, unlike in many other regions, Igbo has wealth evenly distributed amongst its middle class. Just as we have very many wealthy people in igbo land, so we also have a very visible mid-income earners with very decent standards of living than any other Nigerian region. We don't have those annoying extremes like one finds in the West and North where extremely wealthy people and extremely poor people. What is the need of wealth if it stays in a few hands? Dayo be realistic jor! |
That man has always had oversized Egos and considers himself a God. How much is he worth sef that makes him acts so irrationally and erratic, nothing is as annoying as a boss with an overdozed pride, always finding a need to remind you of his status. No wonder Glo is the worst communication company to work for, we have all heard stories of how this eeediot summarily dismisses and sack people at will without any serious or cogent reasons. His presence inspires fear instead of admirations, no wonder his staff are trying hard to get please him, the man must think of himself as a God. . . Scheee! By the way, the man is not realy some havard drop-out smart arss nerd like Gates and co who built real wealth from the inventions of their smarts, Adenuga is just your typical Nigerian politico/business person that got a big break and support from his connections in politics, nothing realy spectacular about their wealth. He aint no gates or Steven jobs, he is got cash and pays some real smart arss to get jobs done for him. . No need to eaggerate the man's mental abilities. |
Adichie raised a very valid point about black women and their apparent dislike of their own hair. You hardly see an African woman that is hip and sexy wear her own hair, why? Is it an issue of complexes? Like Adichie said, it is only black women that have an exploitative industry dedicated to making sure black women hate their hairs and see it as an option. Black women, why? |
As much as I agree GEJ is an ar$$hoe, the prospect of a Buharl presidency does not augur well with me and many Nigerians. The opposition is not helping matters and giving the purposeful opposition leadership one would have hoped for with the undemocratic manner they keep imposing overused politicians fills my palate with bile. Buhari for instance, is an overused failure, this man has lost three consecutive elections in all his attempt, yet he is being considered as an alternative to GEJ, rubbish! To be sincere, I believe Jonathan has tried his best but may be we need somebody not neccessarily smarter but with the political will and resolve to tackle Nigeria's problem, I don't believe Buhari can do that either, his past record does not put him in the light of those to be considered as non-partisan or de-tribalized. The man seem like a vindictive person that will dish out justice based on one's tribe, region and support. So if I am not going to give my vote to GEJ, it definitely wont be Desperado Buhari, that is the fact. |
Ogbuefi_Negro: we don't claim it......your own people claim it for us, they put the CROWN on our head and made us the most attractive city for Igbo business and living. When Igbos vote Uyo, Calabar, Zamfara as the most business friendly we will put the CROWN down and shut our mouth.hahahahah. . . Which Igbo people voted Lagos as the most business friendly place? Have you been to Onitsha or Aba? Hahahahahaha. . . There are way more Igbo businesses and business people in Onitsha alone than there are in all of Lagos, thesame guys prolly have branches in Lagos and other places, kini big deal. . .exploit the d mur'4ckaz. . .lol. . Lagos business friendly how? |
eko ilee: Going by your peoples claim about your population in Lagos, there are more ibo people in Lagos than the entire population of Akwa Ibom?lol. . . Fact is this, if we were to compare the SE and the SW states, Lagos aside for obvious reasons; I doubt any SW states can hold up to their counterparts in the East in any rammifications. Shey na that glorified rural Ekiti U wan compare abi na Osun wey be like a northern extension you wan take compare. Ibadan your next best thing is a disgrace to look at, with all those corroded roofing sheets that dot the landscape. . .lol. Even Onitsha as commercialized as it is, has way better buildings and streets to look at than your village looking Ibadan, yet you have the guts to refer to your betters as villages? Lol. . . Anyway, you can keep decieving yourself, we don see the whole of SW where we actually have almost 80-90% Yoruba people, they are all gory sights to behold, it appears Lagos has taken all the shine from the other SouthWest states. . Lol. . Talk of villages, your region has more village looking towns than the SE sub region. . Lol. .the joke is on you. |
Ogbuefi_Negro: if Americans were looking for a clean and sane place to live NY City would be empty. If Nigerians were needing a safe and clean place to live Akwa Ibom would be more populated than Lagos.hahahahah. . . Talk of Ignorance! Go to Uyo and see how many Igbo people live there. You Yoruba folks need to leave Lagos and the SW region to realize that Lagos is not the only place where there is a large population of non-indigenes especially Igbo people. You go to Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, PortHarcourt, Sokoto, Zamfara, Uyo, Calabar there is a large population of both Igbos and other southern tribes, I don't know why you lot seem to think it is only in Lagos that people go to or only Lagos has a lot of non-indigenes. . .lol. Abeg comot for that Lagos waka small. |
bloggernaija: Exaggerate? It seems you have no clue the kind of work and how hard it is to get things done in Lagos. First of all, he has to source for funds to embark on project. Do you think the 10 billion naira a month allocation from FG is even enough to pay the salaries, gratuities and pensions of lagos civil servants. He then has to go to his angry already overtaxed constituency to generate tax revenues. You lot like to forget the fact that unlike others, Lagos has a lot of advantages and avenues to make money. Besides, the 10billion monthly allocation from the FG, Lagos has the added advantages and large pool to Tax both formal and informal businesses, something most states can not do, Lagos by Landmass is one of the smallest states second to Bayelsa state so it is easy to have an all-round development impression, compare that to the landmass of Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Rivers, Imo State, Anambra or Cross-Rivers and see how much development they need in comparison. Lagos by virtue of its former status has been the core recipient of most of the FDI and private fundings from Multinationals, we can't all tie every development to Fashola. Unlike in places like Uyo, Owerri, Enugu and Calabar where their developments are largely government driven, Lagos has all the support from these third parties coupled with the huge Monthly amounts from both Tax and FG yet all we see are moderate developmental strides with misplaced elitist projects and huge propaganda work. Guy, there is nothing you can tell me about Lagos, I live here in Lagos, right here in surulere, Ojuelegba area, this is like the centre part of Lagos. |
kgold: Propaganda that's the word. As some1 wrote it would take hours. The BarracKs is fortified. Am a soldier and can tell you nothing happened. Dog tags n wallets with Idcard. It costs #250 2 make these each. That's y AHQ has changed the I'd card, so people won't lie about. We have our share of losses, but we have inflicted heavy on their end.what I would advise is that these guys have sponsors and ignorance fuels their agenda. We make breakthrough when villagers distance themselves from these ragtag bandits. Imagine a pregnant women faking Labour to hide a wanted commander if not for our due diligence, there would have been a blood bath. I know the NA isn't perfect but we get the job done, while minimising our losses.Thank You Soldier. We recognize your efforts, we know how difficult it is to succeed in a hostile environment especially when the people that you are trying to help are helpless illiterates with misplaced allegiance and sentiments, brainwashed villagers who do not know that the enemy is from within, that the enemy is their own shadows and misplaced allegiance. Imagine Northern youths gloating over the videos and talking about some imaginary gallantery of a scet that has largely been cowardly both in act and antics- making false videos to exaggerate what they can do- only an unintelligent goon will believe that these weapons were seized from the armoury of any Nigerian Barracks, no grouo has ever tried and succeeded doing such a thing. Keep killing those roaches and feeding their carcasses to pigs and carnivorous birds, they deserve nothing but inhuman treatments, violence and a summary crushing to death once they are caught. Once again sir, Thanks for speaking out and showing what true courage and gallantry are, you all are the only hope of this country. |
honeric01: You don't understand @ all. It's not about stealing money. I repeat again, you're ignorant. Can't go all over again on you.when faced with superior arguments, your next effort is to dismiss the argument and pretend like you are the one with a superior argument and better understanding of the situation, however, such antics only works on unintelligent folks mostly in the north, that would rather get emotional than use common sense. |
honeric01: I'm sorry but you're ignorant politically, you mean pdp is not gaining from the insecurities? Interesting! You are the ignorant one here with your conspiracy theories that defiles common sense. It is common knowledge that the Northern Political oligarchy sees the Presidency of Jonathan( a non-entity from a minority tribe) as an insult to all the Hausa-Fulani Politicians. You make unfounded claims of PDP profitting from the mayhem of the Bokoharam sect, the question is how? If anything, BH has succeeded in making Jonathan look like a lameduck with their cowardly attacks of innocent people and propaganda videos like this one that makes claims of attacking an Army barracks to get all that weapon on display, a feat that even al qeada can not achieve so easily. BH is succeeding because northern folks like you, who in an effort to spite Jonathan that you see as the enemy are cutting your own nose. Continue to support them and exaggerate their importance, the fact is this; na una dem go continue to kill, any southerners that gets killed there is a matter of choice, na una properties dem go continue to destroy and na una poverty level dem go continue to increase. The kind of tacit support the BJ sect is getting from the North is enough to stall any meaningfull decisive actions against those cowards, if they are so sure of the Allah akbar, make them come out and engage the JTF firepower for firepower and missiles for missiles, the people profiting from BH are folks like you giving them tacit support and moral, those scared ex-northern general paying lips service and clamouring for amnesty to murderers and killers because they are scared of their lives, so much for the so-called Army generals. . .scheeeew! |
Ricky_Ross: It is only a coward that takes you serious.Did you say you read his rants o boy you get time and patience o. . .me I dey scroll past, his rants and antics have become redundant and trite, the word objectivity is not in his mental dictionary. |
lekanwj: With these kind of hypocrity among young people on this forum; the future of this country is definitely not certain.Fashola is a good leader no doubt but at times, you Yoruba folks like to exaggerate the man's work and turn him into a tin god. He is not the only performing governor you know? |
emiye: The more production plants set up in the country the better, jobs to be created, technology to be transferred. why exhibit subtle tribalism in stating that Fashola should patronise innoson motors ? because he is an igbo man like you i guess. Are all government vehicles in anambra state, the location of innoson plants now made by innoson. Has ekene dilichukwu and all big buses of igbo transport merchants now made by innoson? You are not getting the point, the economics of scale Mr Fashola is using as basis to set up an auto plant is laughable, if that is the major reason, why not patronize those that are alraedy in the business?? Incase you dont know. Those transport companies are one of his biggest clients, every one of them has an IVM bus in their fleet. it is good to comment about things you know, don't just sit in one corner of Lagos and assume things you cant prove. |
eko ilee: Obviously what you saw in the mirror this morning...if you have not been to the east,it is useless arguing with you. like i said before, the bulk of the support he has gotten so far is largely from that region and west Africa but i trust a petty bigot like you to rant. |
eko ilee: Involve ko, attache ni.you are so childish and petty. . . |
1MCN: This is a giant streak and I like it. But however, there are a few things I wish to point out:Let me correct some misinformation there, Innoson is still having the problem of patronage, the presence of his buses are still minute compared to what would have been if there was a direct government effort to encourage him. Apart from the goverments of Anambra and Enugu in particular, and some occassional purchases from other southeast and south-south private businesses, the bulk of their patronage has come largely from Ghana and Ghana is doing a lot to attract the IVM business man to come set up in Ghana, that is a government that is serious and sincere. The last time the members of the government tour group came to the east and visited his auto plant, he complained about it, he even cited a case where they approached the Abuja Environmental Protection Agency to patronise waste disposal bin manufactured by his company but instead, they choose to import them from Germany. By the way, Innoson plastic company is the largest plastic company in Nigeria and has consistently win the award of being the best plastic company yet EEEdiots in power woulod rather import and pay lip service. |
Nigerians some times are hard to understand. Somebody raised a valid argument that everyone seemed to ignore. There are already existing automobile companies in the business of both assembling and manufacture yet we don't see any of these locally produced vehicles in any government fleet. Is it not cynical and insincere to blame the federal government even when it is clear that even they, state government are not supportive of the efforts of already existing local manufacturers. Innoson for instance has tried against all odds to go into the business of manufacturing vehicles, so far, he manufactures mostly the kind of buses used by the Lagos BRT buses, how has the Lagos government supported his effort? So far, the bulk of IVM vehicles are sold in the SouthEastern states, the question is why? I know IVM has a sales outlet somewhere around cele-ijesha-mile 2 roads, why are they not getting support from Mr Fashola if realy he is concerned and sincere about the plight of these people? The whole idea is ridiculous and seemed to be born out of parochial considerations to score cheap political points. how can any serious government go into a heavy duty sect like automobile assembly just so they can serve only the their own transport system? So he will just open an automobile assembly against the already existing ones just so he can assemble BRT buses alone, Dumb, dmub, dumb, dumb. . . and his praise singers are here licking his poo and buttt as usual. Nigerians and their subtle tribalism will never let them see the bigger picture, I bet if innoson was a Yoruba man, there will be no story like this dumb one making the news. |
imotondo: mehn, that guy is a well packaged thief, thats extorsion!.my younger bro told me abt it last week and i was like OMG!..even to young grads that doesn't have any source of income? Mtchwwwww.hahahahaha. . . i doubt he has as much visitors as other job sites...kind of heartless if you ask me, |
salt 1: I wish, for the sake of people like you, that what you wrote is true. You must be right that I'm really dumb but I am yet to see or read about the enlightened discoveries that prove with massive and conclusive evidence that there's no after-life. In fact, I see and read so much that strengthen my belief that these things are real.Guy shut up jare! You sound like a broken record, what is your proof of hell besides the bullshyte your inconsistent bible claims. Who is Jesus Christ? What did he look like? Do you even know the jewish view of Jesus Christ? Almost similar to the muslims'. Understand the history of Christianity first before blabbing with stoopid confidence of what cant be proven. |
iebanehita: Permit me to answer ur 4th questn.I doubt you know what you are talking about. Cover letters and application letters are basically thesame and they carry both addresses. It is even allowed to state what is it you are applying for in a cover letter as a heading or in bold letters but you must not underline it. |
