shymexx: Give props where it's due - however stop overrating people... We as Nigerians need to raise the standards for those we call our icons and heroes - the standard is just appalling, at the moment...look at this confused Ghetto gansgtar yapping about standards, when was the last time your ignorant azz was in Nigeria let alone have true life experience of what it is like living in Nigeria. Even if you add up all the crackheads in your ghetto infested families in the Bronx, they still will not qualify to lace the man's shoes let alone criticize the man. Enjoy the illusions of grandeur that NL grants, with it, nonentities and crackers like you can parade as some intellectuals for a few hours before retiring to your real drug life. |
all4naija: Whatever! Yorubas are not helpless people as you guys are trying to portray here. That is a complete fact! You are a shameless Moderator. How did you become a MOD?? I guess it was through thesame tribalistic consideration. |
pot calling kettle black |
4chi: ...unfortunately Achebe himself did not adhere to this cardinal principle when he was running his mouth when Awo died. Hope his ibo kinsmen appreciate his passion for them and they accord him a good burial. Shame, he could have aroused so much national euphoria but for his utterly bigoted fart of a book called "there was a country".You sound very daft and unneccessarily combative, Achebe is not one to write about an event just for the sake of stirring tribal sentiments. Like he said in an interview, if you don't like a story, write your own. If all the while, all you know about Awolowo's involvment of the war is the good side that is always highlighted by the SWestern domined press, Chinua Achebe has given you the other sides of the story that is often conveniently overlooked and downplayed by Awo's Kingsmen. Achebe will always be great irrespective of shitty opinions from tribally jundiced Bigots such as you, better get used to it. |
you couldn't have gone through the Nigerian primary and secondary school system without having read any od Chinua Achebe's book especially Chike and River. |
brosdoncome: I didn't know Freestyle from defunct Trybes Men is Oyedepo's son in-law.....happy for them thoughChineke! Are you sure about that? You mean that Freestyle, the one that looks like snoopDog amongst those three dudes from Tribesmen. The plenty plenty nonsense crooners. Cos seriously, those kids look early 20s to me. |
zolajpower: my dear brother responsibility is what matters in a relationship, it not the "handsome or beauty" that makes a good relationship. you can"t tell me the lady has"nt come across handsome guys. But she choose to go out with the one her heart desire. Have seen hand some guys cheating on there spouse.in other words, according to you, handsome guys dont or cant make good relationships, huh? Keep decieving yourself. |

kc owen: There's this song i'll never forget, each time i listen 2 d song it brings fond memory, its evergreen and make me cry the song by whitney houston I WILL ALWAYS LOVE U also luther vandross dance with my father, though me & my father never had a good relationship so each time i hear d song it always makes me wish i had done things differently & dance with my father againwhitney has got a voice that even Angels cant rival. . You need to listen to songs like I have nothing, why does it hurt to feel the depth of her vocal dexterity and expertise. Saving All my love for You is a classic you should be listening to wen you are with that special gal |
Truly, some songs bring back fond memories; be it of Love, sex, death, regrets, congy feelings, moving to a new place and so on. . . I am a sucker for pop/rnb music of the eighties and nineties. Even though I am a guy, my best vocalist is still Whitney followed closely by Toni Braxon. Some women dont just have the voice, they know how to use it to evoke emotions and actions, Whitney is Undoubtedly one of the best voices of the eighties, 90s and early 2000s before drugs and bad relationship too their tolls on her. Mehn, I remember back in the days with my Palito battery radio how strictly soul, pop and rnb songs would play from cool fm, shola thompson or so, rythm of the night. . Chai i remember I had this Mp3 compilation of Whitney and Toni Braxon, I would play them 7pm non stop till the morning light, I remember I once woke up with a whitney song: All the Man I need, playing in my dreams till I woke up to find out it was my CD player serenading. Back at Uni. . My lodge in Umuelem, Kings Lodge, dont ask me the school. . .lol. . Dem dub my loud rnb and pop music wey i take dey disturb, egwu ncha. . .lol. . I remember playing this song by Michael Bolton, Missing You. . Damn I had this chic who had fallen in love with the song(she is a Michael Bolton freak anyway) knock at my door and asked if she could borrow it. . ,mehn, I was feeling like wan kind Motown music talent hunter . . Lol. . Unto say I get knack for evergreen songs. . Lol. . However, the unfortunate thing is that I am yet to find a chic with a passion and musical depth for the kind of genre I listen to . . . Would love to meet such chics. . No be all these small small pikin Azonto gals. |
which kind ordinar looking underagers be these ones. Are you sure that Boy is Oledepo's Son, nna eh, na wa o |
Can some of this Ignorant posters just shut up and respect the dead and injured without having to trivialize this whole thing to PDP-Jonathan trite arguments? We are talking of innocent lives here that have been wasted by some overzealous sect using religion and politics as a guise to perpetrate evil. Clearly, I do not believe that Islam supports this kind of wickedness, yes there are clearly vague verses in the koran that can be misinterpreted both knowingly or unknowingly but it still does not mean the religion supports dastardly acts like these ones, after all the bible is rife with records of Men of God commanding their subjects to visit violence on people who they consider as pagans, heathens etc. Even Elijah one of the greatest prophets of the bible visited violence on little childrien, so whats the fuss with all these "my religion is better than your own" nonsense non-muslim southerners like vomit every time shiiit like this happens. I served in Sokoto, my closest friend was an Hausa muslim. Just like every other kid anywhere in Nigeria, he has thesame yearnings, needs, social life, thought process and political-views views, they don't have to rhyme with mine or the generality of Youths in the south but he or any other normal hausa kid in the north that grow up just like everyone else is not a terrorist, do not support BokoHaram, neither is it common place to see any Hausa person muslim or not express the kind of views that BokoHaram supports. We should learn to treat issues with maturity and the right doses of respect for everyone's sensibilities from religion, tribe, region to even the kind of work we do. BokO Haram is everyone's Enemy including Jonathan, they are nothing different from Alqaeda and the likes except that in their own case they are a bunch of illiterate with that can seem to know what they want besides seeking attention and visiting wickedness on others. The Fact is, Nigeria needs to break up or better still reconstruct how she wants to continue to exist with her many tribes and vastly different people. It is a shame that we call ourselves Nigerians yet increasingly, Nigerians from other regions have been the targets of such wickedness by a small group of religious-politico fanatics using all manner of excuses to do evils on others. I will be nothing different from them if I decide to do thesame thing to every innocent Hausa person in Aba or Owerri where I am now. What good will that do? They are not BokoHaram or support their cause, their only tie to them is the fact they come fron the north and are prolly from thesame tribe. Is that enough reason for me kill an innocent person for the sins of people from his tribe or religion. We need to be careful the way we comment about the north, especially as it affects an ordinary person onthe streets to kano, Kaduna, sokoto and other northern states, they are just struggling like everyone else and should be considered when making inflamatory statements about the North. I have my reservation but I also understand that we are not the only victims of those idiots. |
kenksD: Whao! they are all exceptionally good in their family (5 children, all girls). I once lived with them during my NYSC in Jos, Plateau state and I must confess that the father (Mother was late then) is a very very accomodating, Cheerful and prayerful man with a very good voice too( yes we sing hymns everyday during night prayers by 10pm). Congratulations Tinuade, congratulations daddy!lol. . Akuko |
Nwogeh: The truth is dt we need a change and i believ dt opposition would give us dis change to some extent. Atleast let power change hands. I believ in APC but offcourse if de flag Oga Buhari, de wil be worst dan present cos d fact still remains dt Buhari is too unreasonabl and unacceptable to majority of Nigerians. Past dictators cant rule dis country again. We need fresh blood like Oshiomole or Fashiola then one oda serious guy from north as running mate if not GEJ will stil win whic i dont pray 4. As for Igbo president, my brethren 4get it 4now cos d calculus is yet 2favour us.iwu otula |
makky: Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers.... A classic that always reminds me that true love can still be gotten.you need to hear the savage Garden version of that song. . Better than Rigteous Brothers version. . . I sleep with that song erryday |
high life Music and 80s and 90s pop and Soul music. . . They feel me up with Nostalgia. The other day I was listening to Whitney Houst ft Jermain Jackson; nobody loves me like you do, mehn, I felt like. . . . Whitney has got a voice that awaken these feelings in ME. |
oshytayman: you are very stupid! Do you think she is your type? If that is her religious belief, what is your problem about that? After all, she decided to forgo the stupid service year instead of constituting a nuisance in the camp. I would rather send my daughter abroad for her masters instead of allowing her to waste her time in their so-called NYSC. her decision is her personal problem, more so, she was not trying to persuade others to follow her step. For you to have even disregarded her course of study means that you are like your leader Jonathan, who rather than trying to better the conditions of his people, has decided that the best he can offer Nigerians is to make insane decisions. You are a very stupid Nigerian. I try to imagine what mediocrity would have turned you into. Educated illiterate!you are a certified slowpoke. Now say thank you sir |
dammytosh: The Nigerian Government caused it. What is it with corpers putting another white blouse under their cap in the name of semi hijab. When we keep handling the same issue with different laws. it is amazing.Religious Fanatics like you are nothing different from Bokoharam. Yes Muslim girls are allowed to wear hijab notallowed not to wear the kits. I served in Sokoto, at the time we were in Camp, it was usually very cold at night, corpers not just muslims were allowed to wear under-clothings to fend the cold, so long as it is white and does not stop you from wearing the kits. Besides, all these are allowed based strictly on the discretion of the camp commandant, some are lenient especially when you have very cogent reasons and it does not stop you from wearing the kit, they allow it. The girl in question is an alarmist and a hypocrit, if she was so certain and sincere about her foolish convenant why did she not apply for exemption knowing that the orientation program will require one to dress in Khaki shirts and troussers giving the rigours of the training. The program in camp is strictly physical trainings and disciplin. It is obvious she and her little ignorant church are looking for attention, even lying that she was kicked out of camp in the middle of the night. I have always maintained that no camp director will do such a thing. Religion is a sort of mind programming on its own, it can be dangerous when exercised to an extreme. This kid is about to destroy her life in a bid to show off her self cultivated morality and piety. I have continued to ask the question, which part of the bible states that wearing troussers is a sin. Jesus christ wey wear gown is a sinner as well according to such ignorant interpretation. Thats why me dey use my head die, pastor don live im life buy jet, this mumu wan dabaru her chances becaues of whiteman's religion. |
Mortiple: See how OKORO is suddenly becoming a NATIONAL IDENTITY. Hahaha!!! Success indeed has many relations.for real, it aint much of a big deal but na the way every Yoruba person begin claim say Okoro na Yoruba name na im igbos begin wonder na. . . Lol. . seriously, Okoro is so Igbo like Abimbola is to Yoruba. . My Guy Ade, dey call me Okoro if im wan yab me small unto say I like money. . . He has never claimed a Yoruba hybrid of that name, yet he is from Ondo too. |
mikeapollo: My point is, we should be magnanimous and honest enough to acknowledge other people's efforts and ingenuity. Other people have acknowledged the contribution of Nigerian music. |
these Yoruba commentator are cracking me up with needless explanation that causes more suspicion. Nna eh, small time now I go hear say e get some Yoruba wey dey answer Otula or Enwe. . .lol. . for Yoruba land. See how good success can be everyone wants to associate with it and even define it. Like say d gal push drugs now, that Okoro for turn Igbo sharp sharp. . . Anyway, like I said, Okoro is strictly Igbo, if any Ijaw person bears that name, it is because they have some Igbo ancestors in their lineage. As for Yorubas wey don turn Okoro. . .lol. . The fact is, if all that explanation were true, it would have reflected in the way it was spelt. I am sure the kid prolly has an eastern ancestor. Yoruba no dey bear Okoro, oko iro or whatever is not thesame with Okoro both in spelling and pronuonciation. |
Nigeriakan: Congrats, sister! You are a pride to the country. But how do Nigeria take hold of these bests lest some so called super power grab them from us.Yeah right, Her father is a Yoruba man that likes Igbo name. Either way, Okoro is strictly Igbo. |
Congrats girl. Welcome to the first class club. Now, make I face those people wey all of a sudden dey claim say Yoruba people and Ijaw people dey bear Okoro.. . for where that wan dey hapn? Lol. . . Okoro is Igbo abeg. . |
ifyalways: Okoro from Ondo statehahahah. . .me sef no sabi say Ondo people don begin bear Okoro. . Lol |
Rugged has a very valid point there. From the way those young presenters kept on with thesame questions and the grimace on their face showed some drama that realy was not needed. The man obviously did not know the website and I doubt they have a website anyway. Anyway, in situations like that I remember the former Anchors Yori Folarin and the other Lady, they were strictly professional and knew when to remove the stinging pin out of your skin. |
high life may have originated from Ghana but abeg, Nigerian high life muscians especially those from the East have a very distinct style of playing high-life. You can't tell me for instance that Osadebe style of High-life is copied from Ghana, that's crap. There's the obvious ones that have ghanaian influences, one can easily tell but there are many too who have their distinct style of playing high life that has nothing to do with Ghana except that the genre is high-life. Abi una wan tell me say Bongo music which is popular with Owerri people is Ghanain? Abi na Peri coma sound like Ghanaian? Osadbe wey una dey talk started music way before many of these other popular guys like orlando, Rex Lawson and co. If you realy want to talk about Nigerian highlife borrowing heavily from Ghana, you will have to go to the East first and sample the numerous highlife sounds there before jumping to conclude. Besides, why do Ghanaians like to pretend to be Nigerians when they need to make their somewhat bias points. . Na wa o |

Amya: Be wise. Don't ruin your future because of one hasty, not-well-thought-out decision.Don't you see the BIMBO is obviously a kid, she is yet to know what finesse and diplomacy is, religious Dumbos like her destroy opportunities just because they want to show proof of their piety and unbriddled overzealousness. It would have been a completly different case if she did not know about the code of dressing but in her case she is in it to prove a needless point and score some holy points. christianity without common sense. |
Oahray: lol. Stif-necked ignorance. Many peeps have posted on this thread about ladies wearing hijabs IN CAMP the north and even about a catholic sister wearing her blue catholic dress IN CAMP, but since you are all-knowing, you can rightly claim that NOBODY in any camp dresses differently. Nice!he is right guy, in camp you are only allowed to wear white shorts and polo, you wont dare wear mufti. . . Stop the dumb argument jor. . you obviously have not served before. |
deols: And u use d word wallahi like u know d meaning. V. Dumb of u to be using that word.thanks to Islam u got such a nice word to usewhere intellect fails, you resort to meaningless side talk and distraction. Abeg go bathe begin go school you dis small JSS 3 girl. |
