Odunnu: I have been trying to understand you. While you seem to want a problem solved, you appear to have exclusive rights over the solution.
I don't understand the maze you are putting me thru in this post.
When you talk about section s , could you name these sections that promote this?
Are you also proferring that the 'anonymity' be stripped off NL users?
Exactly! Does it mean ip's can't be ban as well? The excuse of multiple IDs seems to me like a very convenient way to ignore the obvious lack of interest in being decisive to solving the problem.
If offensive users get banned from their I.Ps, it will be difficult for such a user to register another I.D using thesame I.P and even if he decides to change I.P and register again, once he continues in his ways, he gets another ban again until he gets the msg, I doubt he will have time going through the hassles of using i.p softwares to create more and then go through series of registration process over and over again.
The fact is the instruments of correction are rarely used or left only at the discretion of the Mods, if it is taken seriously, it will definitely reduce a great deal if not stopped.

hmmm. . . I believe the intention of this thread is very clear neither are the issues I raised ambigious. It is either you have not read the topic of the thread or you deliberately choose to misrepresent what I am talking about.
My last post was in response to Jarius in particular and many other posters that seem to have thesame view as him on this issue, that Seun is helpless to do anything to stop tribal bashing and hateful exchanges.
I make no claim to having all the answers, I have only attempted to talk about it and encourage others to put pressure on Seun and the Mods to be decisive and active to their duties. I fail to see where I claim or imply that I only have all the answers, it is clear you have only read my last comment before rushing to quote it and make inferences that far from what the topic discusses. And finally, incase you don't know, there is a section on this forum where one can create racist, tribalistic, ethnic, seccessionist and secterianist thread, if you don't know, now you know.
The question is; why dedicate a section for repulsive discussions that promote nonsense? Ironically, threads from that section make the front page the most, that can not be a coincidence.
Agaian madam, biko read the begining post first before commenting, you will understand me better after doing.

superior1: Ever heard of marriage of (ideological) convenience beforehuh. When pull turn to push, water go find her level. US has already signed an agreement to defend South Korea in any war, so you can always be sure US will react with her military strength should any harm come on South today. Russia, North Korea and co do not have such an agreement. you spot the difference?
I wonder why people view the Russia of today as if they were thesame USSR Army of before. All Russian can do now is talk the talk, they can not afford even the cold war they were doing with the US back in the days through indirect fundings of oppositions in countries were US support the other forces or government forces. Even the Chinco Army of recent has a way better funding than today's Russian Arm. They are no match for the US army, that is a fact that should not be disregarded. The US alone has military bases close by enough to nip any threat in the bud even before they think it.
The US army is the only Army that can deploy close to 600,000 troops with their equipments, vehicles, weapons and everything needed to execute a full blown war anywhere in the world in a matter of weeks and keep the troops there for as long as it takes without flinching. Let Russia, china or Iran try am na, na protest go pour enter the street by the time their government goes broke trying to sustain the war. There is a reason Russia only talks where the US acts, it is called unmatched military might and economy that Russia, China or Iran can only dream of, let alone third world North Korea making noise to be noticed. They prolly want the US to call them to the table and discuss those sanctions levied against them by the US and UN that has crippled her economy.

hahahahahahaha. . . guy how old are you sef. By the way, what happened in Vietnam? Did they win the war against the US?

Nairaland General › Re: Seun Osewa Stop Exploiting The "Yoruba Vs Igbo" Tribal Fights by rhymz(op): 7:05pm On Apr 01, 2013
Just to make my arguments clear as it is obvious some people think Seun is helpless and that my criticism of his management style is a little unfair.
I believe Seun is not helpless, especially if we can be serious enough to explore other avenues to stop curb this casual like for uneccessary acrimony that has become a constant problem here.
First Seun needs to do away with certain sections of the forums that clearly suggest that such threads are allowed. The problem is not so much in the moderation of already posted comments but with the very wrong idea that says this kind of topic, discussions or threads can be posted in certain sections. The idea of "it is allowed here" is actually the root cause.
of course I understand that moderators can't be available all the time to clear certain offensive posts, however, there has to be an effective way to nip it in the bud even before it takes off.
On the contrary, what one finds on NL is this deliberate effort to rather sponsor many offensive threads from these "shit out your guts" sections in the forum to the front page, apparently to draw in more crowd-useless crowd at that- the kind of crowd that scares and suppresses meritable and intelligent debates and argument but supports, copiously, debasing trashy talk against one another and yet we are all Nigerians and Africans.
I wonder why everyone seems to be of the opinion that it is a helpless situation, HOW? Nairaland is not the only Nigerian online forum on the net but it seems to be competing for the trashiest online forum with the way every tom ,dyck and Charly piss and shit from outside and call it fun.
May be when he begins to pull in genuine effort in that direction things my start changing at least. Nobody is asking for a perfect forum but there should be some genuine efforts on the parts of the management to curb the ugly trend, it is wrong to leave it at the discretion of users of the forum, anonymity grants every perv and weirdos the right to do what they like just because it is assumed that they are adulyts and are supposed to know how to act. Nobody runs a serious business that way, I am sure.
Nairaland General › Re: Seun Osewa Stop Exploiting The "Yoruba Vs Igbo" Tribal Fights by rhymz(op): 1:44pm On Apr 01, 2013
ifyalways: Long write up, funny opinion.
Seun is in Ota thinking of how to power on his I-better-pass my neighbour generator so he can enjoy his hot amala and should be blamed because 2 over grown babies in uk/us enjoying free internet, welfare(lolx) and all other perks decides to come online to flex muscle and form gangster?

My oga at the top must not hear this. . .
Yeah right, long write up. . . Like that is supposed to be the problem. You are prolly one of the many posters in Romance section, it is understandable if you do not understand or appreciate the enormity of the issues this "long write up" addresses. It is attitude like this that makes people disrespect other people's essence and foolishly turn sensitive issues into some light joke for entertainment only to later complain about being stereotyped. May be if you took some of them seriously, you will save yourself the usual degrading stereotypes from serious people. On a more serious not, if many of the kind of very bitter discussions that one sees here were to be said in real life, many people will prolly have lost their lives for real, that's how serious it can get, may be then, people like you will give a damn afterall.
Anyway, I have made my point, it is obvious NL is fast going to the dogs, NL used to be very interesting with quality discussions and very many informed posters, today it is a very different case. Some of like to unwind here after work or during breaks, asking for the bar to be raised is not too much to ask I guess.
Nairaland General › Seun Osewa Stop Exploiting The "Yoruba Vs Igbo" Tribal Fights by rhymz(op):
This is to address the other aspects of the ugly trend that has debased the general level of intellectual discussion on NL.
Gratefully, Ivynwa has been very thoughtful and instrumental in bringing this problem to the table for discussion with her thread, "Yoruba and Igbo Kiss and Make up thread".

Apparently, the thread may not have achieved its full aims but I dare say it has been able to record some noticeable success:
a. At least, many of us are coming out to condemn this ugly trend that always seems to creep its way into every discussion on NL.
b. Following the comments on that thread, it is safe to conclude that almost everyone wants it to stop or change, we all want the level of intellectual discourse to be raised way beyond the shenanigans of uneccessary tribal sentiments and debasing exchanges.

However, I will like to delve into other aspects of this malaise, this part of the problem as far as I am concerned (my opinion by the way, you do not have to agree with it) is the root of the general debasement of discussion on this forum, I am talking about the exploitative and irresponsible financial considerations of the owner of NL, Seun Osewa ( No disrespect intended) with regard to the management of NL.
Seun has largely shown that he is more interested in getting traffic, more google ad sense profits, drawing any kind of crowd for advertorial purposes I guess ( regardless of the quality) and exploiting from the profits of controversy, acrimonious discussions and hate-filled threads and posts on his forum.

This is not the first time I have raised this issue that have continued to be an annoying feature of NL, what exactly is the rationale for having sections like:
Secterian Section
Tribalism Section or whatever suggestive name he calls it these days
Sexuality section ( with very stewpid word modifications for obviously harmless words).
A look at the general set-up of NL shows that the forum is structured in a way that is exploitative of sensitive disccussions and considerations, it is laden with suggestive sections that give impetus to all sorts of divisive modes of discussion and antics. Yet, we all want to ignore these very obvious and deliberate flaws and hope for a decent discussions on NL with minimum concentration on tribal sentiments and debasing exchanges. It is like asking for a virgin prostitute, wishful but not existent.

This same pretentious bent in addressing nagging issues is reflective of our attitude in the way we handle Nigeria as a country. We hate to talk about the obvious roots rather we want it shortcut and immediately done, reminds me of the very ignoble advice from Tinubu that Bokoharam be placated with amnesty, forgeting that amnesty is only a shortcut to solving the main issues. I am guessing people clamouring for such are doing so with the general belief that Niger-Delta militancy problem has finally been solved; what a folly conclusion!

Until there is a general clamour by users of this forum for Seun -Yes Seun- to emphasis a little less on maximising profits from his huge traffic generating antics with those sections that promote acrimonious discussions that turn people into real life tribalists and hate-filled demons.
Many of us like to pretend that it is not having any effect on our personalities or the way we view other people different from us but we all know that the only person that readily believes such a lie is ourselves, when you debate with others outside the bandwidth of NL, you will understand it better.

Imagine as an Igbo person that grew up in Lagos, lived my life mostly around Yoruba and other southern people coming to NL to discover that all along, the friendly smiles anf laughters, sacrifices, love, and harmonious living with these wonderful people so far have been fake; that these people have been putting up with me; that they hate my guts; the whole thing according to the impression I get from NL have largely been a charade. That is the impression that one always comes off with after visiting NL. Some of us in order to protect our sanity and personality have reduced visits to the forum, some have stopped all together.

Amidst all this weird fun and entertainment many think and feel they get from such discussions are the dangers of the effects it is having on one's personality. I refuse to believe that one will post a full article and numerous re-joinders steeped heavily with hateful commentaries, depictions, curses and so on about another tribe without qualms and then turn around to say it was done just for fun that he or she didn't mean it, realyhuh
I doubt many of us understand the indirect effects of mind-conditioning when we make such frivolous claims of only being hateful on the confines of NL bandwidth. I don't know about many people here, but for me, I mean exactly what I write and what I write means exactly my views. We can argue and disagree but it should be done with the right doses of respect for our differences and sentiments.
In conclusion, I believe it is high the users unequivcally put pressure on Seun and the Moderators to be decisive and sincere in the way they manage NL, we all understand his need to make profits from traffic and all that, however it should not be at the expense of the people that use the forum, it should not be all about money and popularity, NL is increasing becoming notorious for trash talk, debasing arguments, hate agents and so on, imagine an official from the NSCDC quoting NL first as one of the sites for fraudulent stuff, NL by now should have passed such classifications whether quoted by mistake or not.
More threads should spring up taken up the course for decent discussions here, who says one can not have a very intellectually robust arguments here devoid of all tribal fights and acrimonyhuh

that will be a decision based solely on the couples in the relationship and it will surely meet serious resistance and contest from family members in practise. The Nigerian family law system is so averse to such idea that it will end up being a wonderful idea good only when written on paper but impossible in practise.

First of all, your tribal antics is trite and redundant, nobody cares about it. Let me address your claims of the SW being the reason JEG won the election, that is a stupifying lie from the pit of hell. The SW votes had littl or no effect to the outcome, it has been shown that even if JEG did not get the few he got from there, he still would have won the elections. Jonathan won on the back of the SE/SS block votes, which cancelled out preposterous numbers coming from the core north. Any honest Yoruba person will tell you that many Yorubas did not vote at the presidential level in the last election, so dont be coming up with them lies about the SW doing anything for anyone with that larger than life impression you lot like to give of the SW.

As far as I know and I am talking as a resident of Owerri, Rochas is the best thing that has happened to Imo State since Sam Mbakwe era. He may not be the best person to trust but when it comes to getting results, he is far ahead of many of his peers. If another elections comes, Rochas will win it, that is the wise thing to do. How old are you? I want to know the intellectual capacity of the person making such a senile argument. I realy would have loved to argue the intricacies of Imo state politics and this Agbasogate but apparently, you are either an unintelligent teenager vomitting the random rubbish he hears from uninformed sources and people who are largely not resident in Imo state, in effect, arguing with you will be demeaning and a waste of time cos you know nothing.
You can continue with your stupifying ignorance, shouting and throwing sentimental opinions angrily does not mean you are smart. The committee report is not a one source report, here in Owerri, you don't have to go to any site, a copy of local daily tabloids have details of the report in them; Announcer Express, Imo star etc, all you need to do is get one and educate yourself before comming out to spew gibbberish that has little or nothing to do with the topic of discussion. If you have a personal war to settle with Rochas that is a personal fight that you should not confuse with stated facts of the Agbasogate. Opinions like the saying goes, is like an ar$shole, everyone has got one( and they mostly stink) but facts are stubborn things that remain sacrosanct.

Jude Agbaso am sorry to say is not a smart politician, he got carried away, got caught up in the process and is now trying to play victim.
If he had any political savvy, he would know that Rochas at some point would want him out of that office since he, Jude Agbaso is there as a lapdog for his Elder brother Martins Agbaso watching over Rochas Okorocha just to make sure he, Rochas does not renege on their alleged agreement.
Rochas made him commissioner for works, a ministerial position that is responsible for almost half of the expenditure of the government, i.e there is a lot of money dealings, if he had any sense, he would know that being above board in every process is paramount. He was given free-hand to do as he deemed fit without any fetters yet he could not sense that he was being set up for political self-destruction.
Rochas made a move to align with another emerging political party, what did the deputy government have to say about his position: "I was elected on the platform of APGA, I am still in the party blablabla, time will tell who is who blablabla. . ." openly without minding that his Boss was listening and watching him run his tactless mouth. What happened to no comment and using evasive retorts, mumu prolly was intoxicated by his Elder brother's larger than life influence. His political naivity is so glaring and annoying.
He was granted interview to tell his own side of the story why he was being persecuted by the state house of Assembly, in that interview, he denied countless times that he had never, I mean "never ever" met or had any encounter with the J pross guy, he made suggestive statement that his Boss was the one behind his travail and the boss introduced the contractor to the ministry, as far as the truth is concerned, these are distractive details that does nothing to present the facts of your so-called travails.

That he is being politically chastised by detractors- prolly is boss- is a strong possibility of course, that, as far as I am concerned is not the issue here. The issue here is this, has he been found complacent in the whole Saga, YES! Devil wan kill you, we all know but why did you make it so easy and glaring for him to kill you? Why have you foolishly given him a very good reason to kill you?
Here is an excerpt of the committee investigation hearing with the two culprits:
Committee: Mr. Joseph Dina, do you know the person sitting opposite you?
Joseph Dina: Yes I know. He is the Deputy Governor. He is commissioner of works
Committee: What is his name?
Joseph Dina: Sir, Jude Agbaso
Committee: your Excellency, do you know the man sitting opposite you?
Deputy Governor: Yes I know him. He is JPROS
Committee: He said you gave him account numbers via your telephone number 0803xxxx421 directing him to pay a total sum of N458,000,000.00 (four hundred and fifty eight million naira) to those accounts? And that he actually paid in February, 2012 on the receipt of the N1.035,000,000.00 (one billion, thirty five million naira) only the sum of N325,000,000.00 (three and twenty five million naira) in favour of Three Brothers concept Ltd account no, 0045630151 with GT Bank Plc Lagos. Deputy Governor: I say before this committee that I did not text JPROS to transfer any money to any A/C and this is the truth. JPROS is telling lies against me. Never did I at any point in time requested JPROS either oral or written to do do. He went on to say,…. “the God that guides Imo State the land of Owerri will punish you and those using you”. The creator of human being knows that you are not saying the truth”.
Committee: Mr. Joseph Dina can you tell the committee the phone number of the Deputy Governor which he used in sending to you the account numbers Mr. Joseph Dina: Yes I have the number in my phone. (He searches his phone). The number is 0803xxxx421.
Committee: Your Excellency is this your number?
Deputy Governor: Yes it is my number Committee: Mr. Joseph are these documents the same documents you gave the committee? (Bank documents including his bank statements shown to Mr. Joseph Dina)
Joseph Dina: Yes, Sir, they are.
Committee: Your Excellency Sir, you can you please go through these documents. Deputy Governor: (after glancing through the documents) well I have no need for these documents. They are his and have nothing to do with me.
Committee: Did His Excellency confirm these monies you said you paid into those accounts you said he tested to you?
Mr. Joseph Dina: Yes , he confirmed them. Committee: How?
Mr. Joseph: During phone conversations Committee: Have you been to His Excellency’s house before?
Mr. Joseph: Yes, I have been to his MCC road private House
Deputy Governor: (Interjects) No He has not been to my house
Committee: Mr. Joseph can you describe the type of House where you met him at his MCC road House?
Joseph Dina: Is bungalow. He told me is a factory for garments before.
Deputy Governor: Noo o! Not true
Mr. Joseph: You don’t remember? You told your security to wait for me outside and give me direction because I did not know the place before.
Deputy Governor: Okaaay.. Yes I now recollect
Committee: Your Excellency Sir, are you now retracting your earlier statement that Mr. Joseph Dina have never been to your House at MCC Road?
Deputy Governor: I said I recollect now. So I withdraw my earlier statement. Committee: Mr. Joseph What side of the house did you sit with His Excellency, the parlour, the bedroom?
Mr. Joseph: His parlour Committee: can you tell us the sitting arrangement
Joseph Dina: I can’t remember is long time. Committee: What happened when you got to His Excellency’s House at MCC road did he offer you anything?

Mr. Joseph Dina?
Deputy Governor: Yes, I can remember receiving a bottle of Blue Label (Porsche design). You know he came back from abroad and brought me a drink. Committee: when did this happen, Your Excellency?
Deputy Governor: it was in February 2012. Committee: that was the same February that the said one billion one hundred and fifty million naira were wired into JPROS International Nig. Ltd account?
Deputy Governor: Y e e e s s!!

carefreewannabe: I would definitely have some back-up and my hubby would know about it. There is no way for me to accept another wife in my house and no way for me to leave my earnings for another wife. I have been working hard, I have a lot to bring into marriage and I will make sure no other woman, who wants to sleep with my husband, will profit from my hard earned money, house and car.

So, yes ladies, make sure you have some sort of security just IN CASE. Also think of your children.

I have also always been a fan of pre-ups.

God has given you a brain to think and anxiety is the mother of the careful. Life can be hard, it can be brutal. So use your brains.
pre-nups in Naija. . Lol. . I don hear you o.

Name me one country that can deploy 500,000+ men, anywhere it wants in the world, within weeks or months, along with all their combat vehicles and equipment, and then sustain that force there as long as it wants. There is currently only one and it is the US.
By way of comparison, China sent a 600 man peacekeeping battalion to Africa in 2009 and was forced to reduce that number to a single 150 man Company after only 1 MONTH because its primitive logistics system couldn't even manage to support 600.

Sprumbaba: You have no point at all. Think before you type. War in Afghanistan is against a group of people and not a country. Nobody will be spared when it comes to country and there will be no issue of collateral damages. I hope you are watching military channels very well.

The US congress and Obama stopped the production of more F-35 fighters jet(F-25 has not even being in combat operation yet) because they say The Enemy To Use Them For Does Not Exist. US of A are miles ahead.
Seriously, I just discovered the kid has no Idea about the things he yaps about, he is just confusing himself with issues that have nothing to do with the argument on ground. That sb implied that the US can oblitereate the whole of China in a war even with its huge military personnel does not mean it should be taken literally and made the crux of the argument. The effect of the exaggeration is to show the extent of the military might and advancement of the US when compared to a toddler china whose military are trying so hard to play catch up but are still miles away.

ugochukwumaduka: Dude y do bliv in movies so much...just luk @ happenings in d world now...conventional warfare is leaving its traditional methods of large armies engaged in battle. Smaller, less visible, highly mobile, intelligent and well armed fighting units are d new order.then think of a nation that hs millions of these fighting units @ its disposal like afganistan.prolonged warfare with such units make large armies battle-weary.
D US is by far a very strong force dan anyoda nation but they can't just wipe out a nation like u suggest.to what end? Turn it into a farmland.moreover, d oda side will not just sit back n watch der citizens killed.dey will fight back n devise means to counterattack.
Tk d vietnam war for example,d americans fled frm dt place eventually.y didn't they wipe them out. Same as today, war is not as easy as u imagine, what's d price for victory,u wil b shocked hw steep d price some nations are willing to pay to succeed in battle as compared with the US.
D US can engaged in force projection because of its strength in numbers and weapons but that doesn't mean it can easily overrun a state like that.der fighting doctrines n rules of engagement like shock n awe dosnt give dem d superior advantage for prolonged conflicts and dts wt other warring sides capitalise on.prolong d battle, draw them deep into it and chip @ der shiny armor bit by bit.
Its only fools like saddam who will overly challenge d US in armed coflict.
what exactly is your point? The Chinese Military is grossly underfunded when compared to the US, dont you get it. How many war heads does the Chinese Military have in comparison to the US military?
Do you know the catastrophe of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers with a wing of 80+ fighter/bombers with precision guided munitions?
In todays's wars, air power is superior for intelligence gathering, period! End of story. Over-the-horizon isn't as much of an issue when the horizon is 300 miles away, not 13. And intelligence wins wars.
One B-1 full of JDAMs has more firepower, farther reach, quicker reaction and maneuverability time, and is far more accurate than 10 artillery units, while only putting 4 people into harms way instead of an entire battalion or regiment. And you are here yapping about some overpopulated military, greatly underfunded in comparison, with a huge lack in sophisticated weaponry and advancement. Abeg make we hear word jor.

azpekuliar: Hahahaha cheesy You're so right. When watching war movies based on the Vietnam war in those days in the East, we used to refer to them as 'Nde Akpa Cement'. Their customes were the color of cement sacks and the lead actor and his troops never seemed able to finish them off due to their sheet numbers. A movie that readily comes to mind is 'Expendable'. Nice memories.

ugochukwumaduka: Battles will always be fought, won and lost on d ground.even with a very powerful military strength like air superiority, u still need ground troops to secure conquered territories.dts y dey establish bases, outposts and others.a geek can't establish such from his AC chilling room. When bases are established, dey are always susceptible to sabotage, guerrilla warfare, insurgency et al. There will always be casualities in warfare on both warring sides.who has more forces is @ d advantage. Plus dnt forget that in modern warfare, as u have geeks in one side's camp controlling drones so also does the other side too, who wan dull for battle, mk dem com slaughter am..all warfare is based on deception and all is fair in war so every side comes up with its own strategy to defeat the enemy.
even NAF hs got drones too, built in naija (aldoh dem just dey start)...
Guy you know little about weaponry and war tactics. The US Army's might is not in its numbers which even at that is extremely high but the level of technology and advancement used in fighting the wars. You obviously know little about what you are yapping. Let me break it down for you:
the United states has the most technologically advanced military and overall it has the most powerful army, naval (including marine corps) and air force units in the world.
It has about 1.3 million active military personnel ranking second in the world and with a military reserve of 1.4 million. It ranks first in military spending in the world with billion going into its military. It has some of the most advanced military vehicles, artillery and aircraft in the world. The United States' Navy is the largest in the world and the United States' Air Force (or USAF) also happens to be the largest in the world. It has the most stealthiest aircrafts including the B-2 Spirit and F-22 Raptor Aircraft Fighter. It is estimated that it has around 18,269 aircraft. The United States also has the second largest nuclear weapons arsenal in the world with 4075 active nuclear warheads and 5535 total warheads. It is truly the most powerful military in the world.
The Chinese military as presently constituted is still very mediocre with hordes of copycat old time russian made weapons. The technological advantage of the US Army renders any possible manpower advantage irrelevant. Their tanks - Type 96, 98, and 99 are copies of the Soviet T72, a tank which has been proven ineffective in battle. Their artillery is similarly incomparable to anything the US has. In a truly conventional, ground-based war, even with air power taken out of the equation, the US will so easily own that war.
Air power wins wars (big conventional wars, anyway). Whoever controls the skies, controls the battlefield. And the intelligence. And the logistics. And the ability to rapidly move and deploy. And the suppression of the enemy's intelligence, logistics, and ability to rapidly move and deploy. And the US Air Force is the biggest and best in the business. Stop with the nonsense talk about ill trained cHINESE MILITARY with mediocre versions of old and outdated Russion tanks, guns and weapons.

manuell1021: but america dare nt tink of goin 2 war wit china.
america will obliterate China in a matter of days if it come to military comfrontation. Guy is not about numbers o, that does not win wars. Today's wars are worn by technology, military sophistiscation and advancements not by size. The America military is the most funded military in the world, with more than seven times the amount China spends on its military. China still buys major military weapons from the US and Russian, so wetin you dey yarn. Even the economic advancement in China is pushed largely by majorly companies in the US and europe. So forget abeg china still dey learn.
