Quite revealing.
More exciting revelations have emerged that the penchant for private jets acquisition has cost wealthy Nigerians over N1 trillion in five years. The luxury trend actually rose by 650% between 2007 and 2012, this has increased the rate of private jet acquisition from 20 in 2007 to over 150 in 2012 which has placed Nigeria and china as the fastest growing private jets markets in the world.
Top ten private jets by wealthy Nigerians.

damola1: His humble lifestyle is reflected by his choice of an aging Volkswagen Beetle[22] as transport, his only asset.[23] His wife owns the farm they live on. The Economist describes him as "a roly-poly former guerrilla who grows flowers on a small farm and swears by vegetarianism"[24]. He also donates 87% of his state salary to charitable causes.[25] He does not believe in God
Even though one can see some journalistic embelishments and exaggerations in the way the story is told, what strikes me most is the part that reminds us that religion has nothing, absdolutely nothimg to do with being genuinely charitable and compassionate, a concept the likes of Oyedepo, Adeboye, Oyakhilomeh, Okotie and all those other sweet-mouthed, bible clutching con men hoodwinking their gullible congregation, a majority of whom are either illiterate or some indoctrinated educated people who are too scares to question the status quo of their religious belief systems and the very opposite actions of its proponents to the insincere claims of eternal bliss and freedom.
Before anyone hurls any accusing fingers at the president and the thieving congress people, they should first direct their hypocritical fingers to their clergy phonies, who are more powerful, have direct influence and access to common people than those politicians they like to use as scape goats.
If a whole president can be so contented to drive a simple car, live in modest house and even donate a sizeable chunk of his salary to charitable causes then those mega church phonies that call themselves MOGs should face even stiffer criticism for capitalizing on the plight of the poor and the deplorable state of our education and housing systems to gather wealth for themselves and their childrien. How many of them can lay claims to any charitable work both in their church and outside? I meab charity directly from their pockets and accounts, something that will affect their financial status like Bill gates is known to have done. Can Oyedepo especially make such claims of charity? Yet the criminal has tones od books cajoling, decieving and browbeating his readers to donate to his inexhaustible coffers in the name of tithing, offering, special seed and all that money making schemes they come up with in their churches to force one into emptying their pockets.
I will only criticize Politicians in this regard if the clergy first lead by example.

You are right. As I write, I am in a bus from Lagos going to Abuja and can you believe that we are still in igbokodo Benue state. Journey still far, I reckon we will get to Abuja by 12am today, they say the markudi route is extra 6hrs to the journey. What a journey. damilarelr: You failed to distinguish between CREATE and MAKE or FORM. Everything we see today were existing in the spirit form in Chapter one, including man (male and female), the spirit became a visible entity when God made their respective body from soil..
you are clutching at straws here. Dont add or remove or even implied what you want to be what is said.
Create, make or form are thesame thing, go to china and come back it will not change.
Again stop giving your own weird interpretation of what you would have wanted the bible to have said. At no where did the bible say anything about man and woman existing in spirit before God brought them into life from the soil. I challenge you to show the portion of the bible that makes such a weird claim.
You can't explain the inconsistencies and illogicality by merely introducing your own weird interpretation that has nothing to do with the claims of the bible
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Science More Accurate Than The Bible? by rhymz(m): 8:48pm On Sep 17, 2012
The Bible has inconsistent accounts of who created the heavens and the earth. The Old Testament of the Bible is clear that God created everything alone. The New Testament, however, inserts Jesus into the stories and says that God and Jesus created everything together. So which part of the Bible is correct about who was involved with creation: the Old or the New Testament?
THE OLD TESTAMENT
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Isaiah 44:24
Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.
THE NEW TESTAMENT
John 1:6-10
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
1 Corinthians 8:6
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist.
This Bible inconsistency is arguably created by differences of theology: the Jews were strict monotheists while Christianity which is Pauline Theology introduced the new idea of a "Trinity," three persons that are also one person. .lol. .i.e
1+1+1=1according to today's Christian theology.
Some Christians try to resolve the inconsistency by saying that references to a single person are consistent with the trinity and so do not contradict later references to two or three persons. The fact remains, though, that the Old Testament never mentions Jesus' involvement in creation and that's rather an important detail to leave out, isn't it?
That's why these Bible verses are inconsistent. Some say that God acted alone when creating the heavens and earth while others say God acted with Jesus to create the heavens and earth. They can't all be right, but they can all be wrong. Is this a legitimate Bible inconsistency or contradiction, or can the various accounts of who created the heavens and the earth be harmonized?
If you think you can resolve this Bible inconsistency, explain how — but your solution cannot add anything new that's not already in the stories and cannot leave out any details that the Bible provides.

The Gospel of Matthew (180 CE)
Although it was claimed by later Christian writers to be a “translation” of a manuscript written in Hebrew by the apostle Matthew, the Gospel of Matthew
did not exist prior to the end of the second century and was originally written in Greek. As Waite says:
The Greek Gospel of Matthew was a subsequent production, and either originally appeared in the Greek language, or was a translation of the Gospel of the Hebrews, with extensive changes and additions. There is reason to believe it to have been an original compilation, based upon the Oracles of Christ, but containing, in whole, or in part, a number of other manuscripts.

The gospel of Matthew is particularly noteworthy in that it contains the
interpolation at 16:17-19 not found in either Mark or Luke that gives authority to the Roman Church: To wit, the statement by Jesus that Peter is the rock upon which the
church is to be built and the keeper of the keys to the kingdom of heaven. The
appearance of this gospel determining Roman dominance corresponds to the
violent schism of 180-190 between the branches of the Church over the celebration of Easter.

It is clear that the canonical gospels are of a late date, forged long after the
alleged time of their purported authors. Such they are, and, as Doane says, “In these four spurious Gospels . . . we have the only history of Jesus of Nazareth.”

THE CONTRADICTORY CREATION ACCOUNTS
Genesis 1:25-27
ANIMALS WERE CREATED BEFORE HUMANS
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image.... So God created man in his own image.
HUMANS WERE CREATED BEFORE ANIMALS
Genesis 2:18-19
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
MAN AND WOMEN WERE SIMULTENEOUSLY CREATED
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
MAN WAS CREATED FIRST, THEN ANIMALS AND FINALLY WOMAN FROM MAN'S RIBS
Genesis 2:18-22
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them.... And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

I will take parental consent more seriously than any phoney prophesies from any of these prophets or whatever they call themselves these days. Your parents and relatives are intrinsic part of your relationship and marriage to anyone unlike those prophetd that will leave you in the end when it becomes tough.

However in this case,it makes no damn sense!!
To be sincere, I don't think I will want to marry somebody who cares little about parental consent or involvement in their relationship or marriage. If his relationship with both of his parents or all his other relatives is strained then the problem lies with the person. Business › Re: Nigerian Naira Or Ghanaian Cedi Which Is Stronger? by rhymz(m): 2:36pm On Sep 15, 2012
In Lay man's term and explanation, the currency of a country is affected by demand and supply for that currency. How investors both foreign and local, importers and exporters and the Central Bank buys and sells the currency affects its value.
A country can choose to either fix or float its currency depending on its government fiscal policies.
China for instance fixes the rate of its currency by buying buying other major currency so that they continue to regulate it by themselves every time these other major currencies increase or decrease in value against their own currency.
How do they do this, if for instance, the US dollars appreciates against the yen and the chinese reserve bank wishes to keep the yen at par with the dollar, they increase the value of the yen by buying the yen in the open, there by stimulating demanding for the yen while decreasing supply. Doing this generally increases the demand for the yen especially by foreign investors who wants to do business in China with the chinese currency, the implication of this pressure is an increase in value, depending on the regulation by the chinese reserve bank of demand and supply of the currency and other currencies they buy.
One of the major reasons they hold the American dollars in trillions in their reserve. They do this to shore their own currency against he dollar and every other major currencies they have their reserves.
Business › Re: Nigerian Naira Or Ghanaian Cedi Which Is Stronger? by rhymz(m): 1:32pm On Sep 15, 2012
Gbawe: This is really a very simple issue. Decimal places in a currency is not the indicator of the strength of currency. They are merely numerical expressions. Ghana deliberately redenominated it currency via rounding it down several decimal places to make it more 'wieldy'. What was 10,000 cedis now became 1 cedi. 100,000.00 now became 10 cedis and 1 million cedis now became 100 cedis.

Today at current exchange rate, and If Ghana had not redenominated, £1 = N250 = 31,000.00 cedis i.e 3.1 cedis today.

When Ghana redenominated in 2007 , and rounded down decimal places, the exchange rate became 2 cedis to £1 and approximately $1 to 1 cedi. Back then, and as has been the case for a while, Naira hovered around N255 to £1. Meaning N255 bought 2cedis. Today, as we speak Naira is still around £255.00 to £1 whereas it is £1 to 3.1 cedis. Today N255 now buys 3.1 cedis when it only bought 2cedis in 2007. This is why like-for-like comparison is always best to make issues crystal clear. Is it not now obvious which currency is stronger and has greater purchasing power?

Also, it is a measure of Ghana's fiscal mismanagement, even if they are getting it right in many other areas, that their currency has depreciated and lost a whole 1.1 cedis again the sterling pound in 5 years. This would be the equivalent of the Naira depreciating by 91 Naira against the sterling pound to become £1 to N345.00. We all know we have not seen such depreciation in the past 5 years and it is obvious the Ghanaian cedis has lost value quite badly to become less strong in comparison to the Naira as an economic fact.

I have Ghanaian enterpreneur friends who are incredibly annoyed currently with the situation because import cost them significantly more since they now need more cedis to purchase the pounds and dollars to buy their goods abroad. This is impacting horribly on their profit.
Gbam! People forget that if Soludo had succeeded with his redenomination plans, we wont be calling the New ghana cedis strong. To even show how appalling the economic situation of Ghana at the time, they had to recaliberate to four decimal places per unit of their currency, that is awfully too high. In fact, it is the highest in Africa, I once read somewhere. They were nearing the zimbabwian situation where their currency lost so much value to the point people started using it as toiled paper. Then you go to toilets in their hotels and one sees inscriptions on the walls remind people not to use the paper bills for tissue papers..lol
Business › Re: Nigerian Naira Or Ghanaian Cedi Which Is Stronger? by rhymz(m): 10:30am On Sep 15, 2012
faithin9ja: All the wahala surrounding N5000 note and use of coins in Nigeria. Lot of commentators keep talking about 'strength of currency'.

Here's the question; which curency is stronger, Nigerian Naira at 160 naira to one US dollar or the Ghanaian Cedi at 1.9 Cedi to the US Dollar?

Bear in mind that appox 78 Japanese Yen to one dollar, so the Ghanaian Cedi is stronger than the Japanese Yen?

Your thoughts please
There is a general misconception about the ghanaian currency that many Nigerians have that I think I should dispel.
The new Ghana cedis is a redenomination of the old. The change is mechanical and not as a result of the Ghanaian currency moving positively against the major currencies.
What Ghana did was mere recaliberation of the Cedi where 1newGhana cedis=10,000 old cedis. Infact, the major reason for the revaluation was the prevalent inflation at that time, which was around 10.6%, so in order to stop further devaluation of the Cedis they had to mechanically redenominate the cedis. Mind you, this mechanical change is not as a result of improved economic activities but as a result of the opposite.
Ghana's redenomination of her currency has got to be the highest in the whole of Africa. To even worsen the case 2007 was the third time they were re-valuing their currency. Now there is GH¢ instead of the old worthless ¢ they was used until 2007.
It is like this:
1 GH¢ New=10,000¢ old cedis so even if $1 USD= Gh¢ 1.82 it is still similar to
$1 USD= ¢18200 so what's the fuss?
How has that improved against the dollar? Unless of course one lacks the knowledge of basic mathematics, there is no improvement, the change is only psychological. If you were a billionaire in old ghana Cedis, you becom not even a millionaire but a hundreth thousand naire in the new redenominated currency but buying power has not changed or improved. Just get the new cedi equivalent of the old and you buy thesame fricking items. We can talk of their currency being improved when the old ghana cedis can measure up to thesame figure amount or nearly thesame with the dollar, then you wont need to revalue or get an artificial reduction or atleast the artificial reduction will have an amount figures much more less in decimal amounts to one dollar.

Politics › Re: Soldiers Open Fire To Disperse Jos Protesters by rhymz(m): 8:33am On Sep 15, 2012
Muslims have a wrong way to register their displeasure. It is always about force and violence with them.
While I am not holding brief for the Christian Deity, their God, Jesus Christ has been the most maligned religious deity ever. I am yet to hear that some Christian sect or group went up in arms chanting and violently protesting these depictions in the manner Muslims do. The risk in allowing religiously motivated protests like the ones muslims are known for, is the potential for them to mis-direct their anger on other religions and properties that have nothing to do with the protest. America does a movie depicting Mohammed, the next thing muslims are raiding Christian religious properties and people. Like America is country governed by religious constitutions like pakistan, Saudi and co.
Islam has a mechanism that turns a perfectly rational person to a violent brute with no mind of his own. All they see through their religious lens is; unbelievers, Prophet Muhammed and taking the laws into their hands through Jihad (visitation of violence on non-muslims).
Religion is very dangerous, I must say. Especially the ones that rely entirely on the use of force to make its adherents conform to its tenets.
