Many people are not well informed so they take the wrong step. So it is good to keep em posted so they don't regret their actions..... Didn't you read the link I posted up there too, it shows the conditions and disadvantages of transfering to another uni or college without attending the first semester of your current school which one used in procuring his visa. With what I put up there, people thinking of taking a fast route in avoiding first semester tuition at a university will think twice... |

Tochium: Thank u so much. You guys are wonderful. Again, if I get an F1 visa with a university and wish to transfer to a community college, is it possible to transfer immediately or will I be required to do one year in the university?See let me tell you something, Many schools in the US will always want you to do ATLEAST a semester with them before you can transfer to another university or community college of your choice.. Although, it it NOT imposiible for you to transfer immediately when you get to the US, but it depends on your school's policy for transfers. So you will need to check with the appropriate department in charge of transfers in the school when you get to the US before you make any decisions.. So another useful tip I can give to you is that when searching for your desired schools, put into consideration their per semester tuition rate, if it is affordable for you or your parents just incase you are NOT allowed to transfer immeditately, you can easily find a way to struggle to pay for the first semester tuition fee then you can quickly transfer to the community college of your choice and start the second semester with them. So you need to be careful as not to get stucked with a school with high tuition rate for a semester which you won't be able to afford and If you can't pay your tuition fee when you are currently enrolled in your school, you will fall out of status and get deported back to Naija. Which I know it is something you don't wanna pray for.. So search wisely bro.. Do u know any good university that accepts scanned or fax copies of documents?Many US schools DON'T accept scanned or faxed documents for admissions.. It's Only a few of em that accept it.. The least they will ACCEPT from you is a Notarized copy of your academic certificate.. See what you will do, Search for your desired schools and after short listing em out, then send an email to their international admissions office to ask if they accept Scanned documents OR Notarized documents.. Tochium: Thank you, I just filed my application to Southwestern Oklahoma State University (they accept online application), next week i will FedEx my documents and certificate to them. Please how do i send my TOEFL SCORE to them from ETS?Pls Bros, NEVER send your certificate to any school for admission if requested because you are Never getting it back from the school.. Any documents submitted to schools becomes the school's Property, so if you send your Certificate to them, they will NEVER send it back to you because it has become the school's property. If they accept scanned copies, then you can scan and send it to em by email, But if they DON'T accept scanned copies then the Best you can do is to make a Coloured photocopy of the certificate which will look exactly like the Original one, then take it to a law court and have it NOTARIZED... deejayterabyte: 3 Working days? ha! mogbe ooo, the interview is on the 14th of august, next wednesday! chai i don fvck up!They are on holiday for the Ramadan.. But when you call them on Monday morning between 9am to 9:30am their number will go thru.. Their office is open on Mondays to Thursdays by 9am to 4pm while on fridays - 9am to 2pm.. So I will advice you head straight to their office on Monday Morning and explain your issue with them.. Tell them your Interview date is on Wednessday, they should be able to help you out by speeding up the process for you.... |

Did you book just yesterday and got N199,000 for 16th?Someone got me their booking staff phone number in V.I. So I called the woman on phone and she got me 16th of August two days ago. Which is on Wednessday. It took her time before she got the date for me.. because I called her every 30 minutes like about 10 times and she was busy working on it with her system checking for seat for me because seats were already filled up... Then she finnaly got a seat for me for the 16th of August for #199,000. |

So will defer my admission to Spring to allow me enough time to Plan ahead.. There are so many things for me to settle before leaving for the US, so I'm trying to be mindful so I won't fall out of status when I get to the US.. But will be jetting out by First week of December bro, So by then I will take advantage of the very low cost of Flight ticket when I book down in advance..... |

TaylorGang: When I was denied on 30th of july..d only reason I was denied was becos I was stammering..am a stammer sha..now am looking for a day to reapply..my skl(concord university) opens on 19th of august..so am looking for an appointment date nxt wk or this friday to reapply..Please Next time you going for your Interview, Make sure you endeavour to let the VO know at the start of your Interview that you are a stammerer.. So he/she will make reference to that and Judge your case with all fairness... They are also human beings like you so they will understand.... Cheers bro.... |

There are still many things to settle after getting your visa.. Flight ticket is another issue.. Getting a cheap flight ticket this summer period is very difficult ooo.. Airlines are no longer smiling again oooo. Flight ticket has really hit the roof. They are calling 350k and above.... I'm even seeing some for 600k and others 700k.. The cheapest for Now is 341k.. Chai. Suicide!!!!!!!!!! That's why I love my Igbo brother here Bigfrancis.. The guy no even waste time.. He don book emirate down 2 months before he even set his eyes on his i-20 self.... linux28: pls. can someone help to provide schpoll that dont require sat or toefl for admission.I have told you several times to take the SAT exam.. Why are u guys running away from Standarlized test.. It won't kill you rather it would make you stronger. If you eventually get a school that doesn't require SAT or TOEFL for admission you will DEFINATELY need it at the US Embassy.. You have to oblige with the Embassy rule NOT the School rule.. The US Embassy will judge at the moment of your interview whether you stay back in nigeria or proceed to the US. So it is better you satisfy them by giving them what they want which is taking Standarlized test... Taking Standarlized test is a prerequisite to procuring your US student Visa.. Because they use this standarlized test to measure your academic ability.. You will shoot urself on the foot if you don't take any standarlized test because when you eventually go for your interview, when the VO ask you for your SAT score report and you give them stories, You will be DENIED the US Student visa straight to the point without any exceptions... SAT is not expensive na.. If you can't afford to take TOEFL, why not take just SAT alone... SAT is #14,175... It is way cheaper than TOEFL.. And you will have to get the preparations materials to Ace it... You can get the materials from someone here OR you buy online on www.amazon.com That's where I bought my SAT materials.. I even bought 2 text books online and it was sent directly to my home and I prepared with those materials and I prepared well for the SAT and i aced the exam.. When I went for my Visa interview, the first document the VO asked from me is; Where are your SAT score report?... And I gave it to her and I got my visa... Assuming I was unable to provide my SAT score report to her she would have DENIED me right at that point. And I will start running up and down on how to apply for Visa again with another visa fee of #26,400 and calculate the money and stress and all, you will see that it is of Much more suffering to yourself and you will be traumatized, and also with many things running on your head facing the DENIAL you had at the Embassy, when one would have easily obliged with the Rule and write the Standalized test for just #14,175 with no worries.. So please bro help yourself.. The next SAT is October.. Which is in 2 months time.. This is already close. So Registration for the SAT starts first week of next month.. So act fast. If you intend going for spring, then I guess there is still much time for you to prepare towards achieving your aim.. NEVER make any commitment to any school by depositing part payment of your tuition fee as this is not a Prerequisite to getting a US VISA.. The US system is far different from the UK system where you will need to make deposit to your school before applying for your Visa. The US Embassy strongly advice prospective students wishing to study in the US never to make any commitment to any school until you have procured your Visa.. So the best thing for you is to apply for admission in the school, get admitted and get your admission letter and i-20 from the school and apply for your visa.. Simple!!!! Look for a school that doesn't require tuition deposit as prerequisite to getting your i-20 package from them.. As US visa issurance is NOT guaranteed. whether you make part payment of tuition fee or full payment... Your case will be treated the same way with those that didn't make any tuition deposit.. So no preferential treatment for people who paid tuition deposit.. And morever the US Embassy won't even know you made tuition deposit... AFTER getting your Visa, you can go ahead to make your tuition deposit to the school whether part or full.... Hope this helps.. Cheers.. 1 Like |

So tell your friend Not to be too forward to show any other document other than what I listed above... If the VO needs anyother document he/she will request them from you....
