The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Razaki Abesopiti, 50; Okeowo Kazeem, 46; Babatunde Giwa, 50; Ade Aliu, 43; and Musiliu Yakubu, 56, for allegedly conspiring to dismember the corpse of one Mary Ehinlaiye at Sabo Cemetery in the Ikorodu area of the state. .

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, during a press briefing on Friday, said the brother of the deceased alerted the Command to the incident, adding that investigation into the matter revealed that the corpse, which was deposited at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital’s mortuary, was released to another family. .

He added that in a bid to recover the corpse that had been buried at the Sabo Cemetery, it was discovered that the aforementioned suspects allegedly conspired among themselves to dismember the body of the deceased.
Imohimi said, “On Tuesday, November 20, 2018, the Command received a complaint from one Anthony Lawani, younger brother to one Mary Ehinlaiye, 51, now deceased, that body parts of the deceased were sliced off by yet-to-be identified persons.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the corpse of the deceased was deposited at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital Mortuary along Ijede Road for preservation.
“However, one Olusesi Owamade, 41, a mortuary attendant with the approval of his supervisor, Michael Olusegun, 65, erroneously released the corpse to another family. .

When the relations of the deceased woman came for the release of the corpse for burial, it was nowhere to be found. At this juncture, it dawned on the mortuary attendants that they had released the corpse to the wrong persons.

“To recover the corpse, the following grave diggers: Razaki Abesopiti, 50; Okeowo Kazeem, 46; Babatunde Giwa, 50; Ade Aliu, 43; Musiliu Yakubu, 56, working at Sabo Cemetery, Ikorodu, were contacted by the mortuary attendants to exhume the corpse for onward handover to its owner.

A Texas father of two has been charged with child abandonment after his six-year-old daughter strangled her one-year-old brother with a seat belt.

According to court documents filed on Friday, 26-year-old Adrian Dreshaun Middleton from Houston left his two children in his car unattended and went shopping at a store for more than an hour.

Mail Online reported that Middleton turned himself in at the Baytown Police Department around 3 p.m over the May 20 incident. He told law enforcement he gave the youngsters snacks and water, turned on the air conditioning and played a movie before leaving them alone in the vehicle for only 30 to 45 minutes.

However, surveillance cameras showed he was gone between 10.45am and 12.15pm and also didn't check on them after he claimed to have checked on the children through a store window and thought they were fine.

Middleton told deputies when he got back to his car, he put the shopping bags in the trunk and realized his daughter was crying. He said his daughter told him she had to use the restroom and that she did something bad.

When he looked inside the car he saw his son was unconscious with the seatbelt wrapped around him. Middleton then called 911 and began CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived.

According to the report, the child was taken to Texas Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His 6-year-old daughter also told an investigator she was playing with her brother, and when she stopped playing, he started crying. She said she became angry and wrapped the seatbelt around the baby. The girl said he stopped crying, and she thought he was sleeping, but he was dead.

Prosecutors claim Middleton put his son at 'an unreasonable risk of harm, namely, and a reasonable person would have believed that such circumstances would place the Complainant in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, physical impairment and mental impairment'.

Licensed Professional Counselor Bill Prasad says a 6-year-old child does not have the mental capacity to truly understand their actions, so cannot be blamed.

Prasad cautions most children are not able to make those kinds of decisions until much later, therefore should not be given that kind of responsibility until their teens.

One of the leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Boko Haram faction that abducted Leah Sharibu and some 100 students in February, has been killed.

The Nigerian Army said on Saturday that the Media Chief, Ahmad Sale, of the Boko Haram factional group was killed in an operation by troops in conjunction with personnel of the Nigerian Air Force.

“Reports available reveal that one Sale Ahmad Sale a. k. a. Baban Hassan, the leader of Al-Barnawi media group, a faction of Boko Haram was killed by a joint operation conducted by the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force,” it said.

The Army added: “The killing of the media leader is indicative of efforts by the NA to eliminate key members of the sect.

It is worthy to note that the sect is directly affiliated to the Islamic State and has carried out several attacks against own troops and innocent civilians in the past.”

The Army stressed that the death of the group’s media leader has shown that the leadership of the terrorist group was being targeted successfully by the military.
It assured Nigerians that other key members of the group would soon be apprehended or killed, thus decimating the terrorists and their activities in the country.

The Army disclosed further that it has identified the new leader of another terrorist group – Jama’atu Nus’ratul-Islami Wal-Muslimina, Abul-Fadl Iyad Gali.

“The group is a new terrorist group which Ansaru is affiliated to. In the same vein, the identification of the leader of Jama’atu Nus’ratul-Islami Wal-Muslimina group would enable the NA to target the group effectively using advanced technologies in its arsenal,” it said.

According to the Army, the existence of the group portends grave danger to the nation’s security.
The Boko Haram factional group abducted Leah and over 100 students from the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe State in February this year.

Following efforts by the Federal Government for the girls to regain their freedom, the insurgents brought back the girls to the community in March after spending four weeks in captivity.

But Leah was held back in captivity for refusing to renounce her Christian faith.

President Muhammadu Buhari has consistently assured the nation that the 15-year-old Sharibu would be rescued.

Iran executed two men accused of economic crimes on Wednesday, part of an effort to stem financial misconduct as the country faces an economic crisis and new U.S. sanctions targeting its oil sector.

One of the two executed men was Vahid Mazloumin, dubbed the “sultan of coins” by media, a trader accused of manipulating the currency market, according to Mizan, the news site of the Iranian judiciary.

Mazloumin was allegedly caught with two tons of gold coins, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).

The second man was part of Mazloumin’s network and had been involved in the sale of gold coins, Mizan reported.

Both of them were convicted of “spreading corruption on earth”, a capital offence under Iran’s Islamic laws.

Special courts focused on financial crimes were set up in August with the approval of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the highest authority in the Islamic Republic.

The courts have handed out at least seven death sentences since they were set up and some of the trials have been broadcast live on television.

The rial currency has lost about 70 percent of its value in 2018 under the threat of revived U.S. sanctions, with heavy demand for dollars and gold coins on the unofficial market from ordinary Iranians trying to protect their savings.

Israel-Gaza border ignites after botched raid
The cost of living has also soared, provoking sporadic demonstrations against profiteering and corruption, with many protesters chanting anti-government slogans.

In August, the United States reimposed a first round of sanctions after pulling out of a 2015 deal between world powers and Iran under which international sanctions were lifted in return for curbs on its nuclear program.

The female suicide bomber, identified as Shaidatu Adamu, is a 19-year-old from Gwoza.

She was arrested at Goni Kalachari, near Muna Motor Park in Maiduguri. Muna Park had witnessed several deadly suicide bombings in the past.

, the army tweeted on Tuesday night.

She was reportedly captured by the Boko Haram three years ago and had been in Sambisa Forest with them.

“Upon interrogation, she said her name is Shaidatu Adamu, 19, from Gwoza in Borno State. She was sent on a lone mission. She confessed that she had been in Sambisa Forest for about three years.

“Consequently, troops from 47 Explosive Ordinance Device Battalion were invited to diffuse the explosives. She has been transferred to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade, Maiduguri, for further investigations,” the army said.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has moved all corps members proposed to serve in Anambra State to Ebonyi and Imo states. The corps members were distributed to the neighbouring states because Anambra could not provide adequate camping facilities.

Kehinde Aremu, Coordinator of NYSC in Anambra, said at closing of camp for 2018 Batch C orientation exercise in Umunya Temporary Orientation Camp on Monday. According to him, Anambra was the only state in the South-East geopolitical zone that did not have permanent orientation site.

He said the present site which was owned by the Anglican Church had become grossly inadequate considering the number of prospective corps members posted to the state.

“Sadly, corps members deployed to Anambra will be holding their orientation course in Imo, earlier this year, Anambra corps members were dislodged to Ebonyi and Imo states.

I wish to seize this opportunity to appeal to the vibrant private sector in Anambra to complement the efforts of the state government towards delivering the orientation camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu for 2019 Batch A,’’ he said.

Aremu said the posting of the corps members was guided by the scheme’s policy and requests from deserving employers which fitted into the human capital development strategy of the state government.

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and INTERPOL to help track down the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole who they say is believed to be on the run outside the country since his reported interrogation by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged corruption charges.

The party in a statement signed by its Publicity secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan said that ' Adams Oshiomhole’s swift flight out of the country, at the heat of the investigation, is suspect and goes to confirm allegations that the Buhari Presidency is shielding him from prosecution for fear that his investigation would implicate certain interests at the Presidency and the APC'.

It is ludicrous that the APC, in its lying proclivities, believes that by dismissing Oshiomhole’s arrest as a rumour and aiding him to momentarily flee the country, it would succeed in getting him off the DSS hook as well as sweeping the matter out of public discourse with its famished broom.

No! Nigerians are already aware that Oshiomhole has not denied his investigation including his reported confession that the Presidency was in the loop of all his actions. The PDP had always cautioned Adams Oshiomhole of his unbridled arrogance, lust for power and alleged embezzlement of public funds for which he must surely have his day in the hands of the law.

The PDP therefore demands that APC and the Buhari Presidency must immediately produce Adams Oshiomhole to face investigation and prosecution in our courts.

A hospital attendant, Fatima Suleiman, and a herbalist, Salaudeen Ibrahim, have been arrested for stealing a new born baby’s placenta on October 31, 2018, at Capstone Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The state Police Commissioner, Kofowora Bolaji, said “upon successful surgery, the doctor handed over the placenta to Fatima to give to the father of the baby, but she instead sold it to Alfa Salaudeen Ibrahim to use for charm.”

During an interview with newsmen, Ibrahim said: “I read Islamic Studies from the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin. I graduated in 2016. A month ago, she came to me to ask if baby placenta can be used for ritual purposes and I answered in the affirmative. .

And that was the last thing I discussed with her. And she left. Because she is an attendant in a hospital she told me that some people would leave their baby placentas for them to throw away.

Later, I had even forgotten and she came with one about five days ago. She dropped the placenta, after her departure something told me to call her to come and take it away, and that I would not do the ritual. .

I called her to come and pick it away she refused to, not until she called me that the incident had been reported at the police station. Not to be implicated, I packed the placenta and threw into a nearby river. I thought, with that, I would get myself out of trouble but here am I.”

On her own part, the hospital attendant said: “He did not hand over any amount of money to me, but he told me to help him get baby placenta since the wife is my friend. It is because of my closeness to the wife that is why I acceded to his request.

This is the first time I would engage in such nefarious activity. When I called him the story had taken a twist. He said he had thrown into the river. He added that the placenta would not be efficacious as the baby was delivered via caesarian section (CS).”

According to a Huffington Post, the Patrons of a Nevada brothel operated by Mr. Dennis Hof seemed intent on keeping his memory alive as they voted massively for him in the Tuesday mid-term elections, giving him 53 percent of the total votes cast.

The snag is, Mr. Hof is dead and buried a few weeks before the election.
According to the Huffington Post, Hof died unexpectedly in mid-October, but his name wasn’t scratched off the ballot under Nevada law.
The pro-Trump candidate still found favour with the voters, even from the great beyond.

Elections officials said that Republican Dennis Hof won a seat in Nevada’s State Assembly, with 53 percent of the vote in his Clark County, beating Democrat school administrator and political newcomer, Lesia Romanov, who amassed 47 percent of the vote.

Hof had attempted to mould his political image on that of President Donald Trump, often referring to himself as “Trump from Pahrump” after his hometown in Nevada, according to reports.
The brothel owner, who ran an anti-establishment campaign, got into the crucial race after winning the primary.

However, he was not destined to see his political triumph. This October, Hof was found dead at Love Ranch, one of his legal brothels, after his 72nd birthday party, which featured guests such as legendary porn star Ron Jeremy and potential Republican Senate candidate Joe Arpaio.

However, his name remained on the ballot in accordance with Nevada’s legislation, as the deadline for changing the roster had passed.
Despite the paradoxical outcome, there are procedures in place to ensure that when Hof’s posthumous victory is confirmed, local county commissioners may appoint another Republican to fill his seat.

This set the expectations of Hof’s campaign manager, Chuck Muth, high; as he suggested voters would still opt for the deceased Republican ahead of the General Elections.

“They will feel much more comfortable casting the ballot for him, knowing there will be another Republican to replace him,” he said shortly after the love-vendor’s passing.
Some mocked the US election system for this rare occurrence.
