From the Sea View mansion top where I am seating now..I am seeing a lot of mopping up being done.. grin cool
i still believe this is shakeout.

my only reason being d kind of volume (since the start of the bear) being peddled on the same stocks that gain most during the rally (the like of FBNH / ACCESS / UBA / ZENITH / GTB).

N.B Im susceptible to being wrong sometimes so take this with a caution

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-05-09/sign-of-stress-black-market-is-cheaper-than-official-naira-rate

“Dollar liquidity is still very tight,” said Ayodele Salami, who manages about $450 million of African stocks as Duet’s chief investment officer. “The central bank has not provided that much foreign exchange in the window. People won’t come in to Nigeria until they know they can get out. It’s a chicken-and-egg situation. The market’s not yet that functional.” He managed to sell less than $1 million of naira last week at 396 per dollar, which compares with the black-market rate of 390 and the main interbank one of 314.74.

Frontaura, a hedge fund with $120 million of assets, was able to buy a few hundred thousand dollars last week at rates of between 414 and 399 as it sought to repatriate dividends.

Cape Town-based Allan Gray, the largest manager of non-government investment funds in Africa, got a rate of around 405 for dollars it sold to buy Nigerian T-bills yielding as much as 22 percent. “We’ve been pleasantly surprised at the levels we’ve managed to get,” said Nick Ndiritu, a money manager who helps oversee the $277 million Allan Gray Africa ex-SA Bond Fund.

The introduction of the window has tempted Aberdeen Asset Management Plc, which manages $11 billion of emerging-market assets from London, to buy naira bonds for the first time in about two years. It sold all its local-currency debt in 2015 when Nigeria tried to prevent the naira from weakening amid the crash in the price of oil, its main export. “We’re talking to banks to re-initiate a small position in the local market,” Kevin Daly, a money manager at Aberdeen, said May 5. “I’m confident we could get an exchange rate around 400. It seems there is some semblance of a two-way market returning, albeit a small one.”

BlackRock Inc. switched to using NAFEX on April 28 for valuing naira stocks in its iShares exchange-traded fund that tracks the MSCI Frontier Markets Index, while Allan Gray did the same for its $254 million Africa ex-SA Equity Fund, signaling that investors increasingly view the main interbank rate as irrelevant.

- This has happened technically & quietly with the introduction of NAFEX window (investors window) !
- Using the Nigeria ETF has a gauge, foreign holdings have adjusted to the Investor window price rather than d official price
- Technically , investors have been hit wt a devaluation from N306/$ to N380/$ region
- also making Nigeria cheaper in dollar terms anyway . .

We also believe the recently approved new PFA investment guideline, which stipulates minimum of 10-15% for equities investment should serve to boost both turnover and price momentum. We estimate this could see potential inflows of c.N600bn in PFAs investment into the equities space as part of portfolio rebalancing exercise.

or is there anything in the political space we are not seeing?

Nice one. After enjoying the rally prior to the mark down, my attention actually shifted to other stocks with potential for nice rally and by the time I checked UBA again last week Wednesday, it has risen above the value zone. I put it on the watchlist if it can pullback so as to alert the forum, but it never did till you raise it now..

Howbeit, you are right institutional investors are mopping it up, but with price and volume on the charts it cannot escape TA, only that you cannot be in every stocks...

Nice one...

TravelRe: Eko Atlantic City Updates by robobo: 3:42pm On Mar 24, 2017
Basic123:
Eko Atlantic’s “Great Wall of Lagos” exceeds 6km length

Eko Atlantic, a brand new city being built adjacent to
Victoria Island, Lagos, announces the Great Wall of
Lagos has surpassed 6 kilometres in length.
Construction of the Great Wall of Lagos, which can be
seen from space, began construction in 2009. The wall,
which will reach 8.5 kilometers upon completion,
is a
large sea revetment that protects the emerging new
city, Victoria Island, and parts of Lekki from the threat
of flooding due to coastal erosion and ocean surge.

“Various Nigerian and international searches show that
the erosion rate of the Lagos coast, since as far as back
1910’s, when the record began, has been in the order of
2 to 10 meters per year” says Daniel Kamau, Managing
Director, Royal Haskoning Engineering Consultants, the
appointed marine engineers for the Eko Atlantic Project.
“The land where Eko Atlantic is being built existed
historically, but has eroded over a long period. Eko
Atlantic will restore some of the land lost to the sea and
protect it from erosion,” he concluded.

The revetment uses a proven method of Accropode
units as primary armour for the structure. Each
accropode is made on site and weighs 5 tons. 100,000
accropodes will be placed in a predefined grid, using a
GPS system for pin-point accuracy.

The basic principles of revetment, as a proven
engineering solution for river and coastal protection,
have been used for centuries, if not millenniums, around
the world. The sea wall is designed and tested to handle
the worst storms in hundreds/thousand years, putting
into consideration global warming and rising sea levels.
and what wld happen to d areas outside this 8.5km wall (from ikate up)? to perish in d surge that d wall wld create on those other side of teh lekki peninsula rite?

kindly check the email my registrar(cardinal) sent to me when i made similar enquiry from them below. You can not have same CHN using two brokers.Your cscs acct number and CHN must differ.pls check very very very well.If you have zenith bank shares in house A and zenith bank shares in house B.You must notify your registrar so that they will incorporate the two when paying you dividend.Pls kindly check the email and find it useful to solve your problem.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the email.

Please, be informed that the account has been mandated, and any purchase of FCMB shares with the same Clearing House Number(CHN) would automatically reflect in the account initially created.

Also, the only reason why you would need to inform us of a new purchase is if you purchase your shares with another House, aside from the one we have initially.

If any dividend is declared this year it would be credited directly into your account, because there is a mandate in place.

Best Regards,
 l
thank u Loco for ur response however note that the CHN number is d same for the two accounts with different brokers though the CSCS account differs. from the response given by cardinal i ought to receive electronic payment because the CHN number is same however i would get through to the registrar because payment date was yday and am yet to receive any payment. thank you once again
