I am not an engineer but I did my roofing this year around March 28 to April 18.

I can tell you that it depends on so many factors such as:
A square meter of the roof (mine is around 300sqm).
The kind of wood you will use ( mine we use Mahogany and Marake wood)
The size of the wood to use( mine we start with 2 by 6 then others, while some people do not use 2 by 6)
The type of roofing sheet stone coated will take more wood than long span aluminium.

Overall please do not occupy your mind with they are cheating you or not but go for quality, standard and value for money.
I spent 607, 490 for woodwork and people are talking then I told them they did it to my satisfaction. ( rotech helped me a lot during my roofing)

For example the building I posted about Kingpost, we molded block for client with stone dust at 28 blocks per bag.

If I come here and tell OP here that 28 - 30 Blocks is ideal. OP would still complain. So there are different grades and quality of works for everyone.

Forgetting that plastering has different thickness level as a client can afford. Outside wall and inside ain't the same when it comes to finishing.

You answered it rightly. I didn't want to argue with the person calling out there because he never asked a mix ratio that got that. And maybe he forgot the line of where it was written for someone that expect to manage funds.

He also didn't see where I gave molding blocks quality levels and different quality.

1:6, 1:7 and 1:4 ain't the same.
Am sure he also forgot there are different grades and level of works in construction as a client can afford.

Clients that go for best quality, gets the results. Someone managing costs can't expect to beat the best quality.

Let me not go into standard concrete mix and the likes.

Someone that moulds block for 30 Per Bag, ain't the same with another that moulds 40 Per Bag unless he is saying all the clients here are using the same ratio then that's the best answer to the question.

You and saydfact got it very correct, just to buttress you guys point.

Rendering and plastering are almost same meaning but diff in site approach.

Rendering is mainly for external work which ration 1:4 is best for with 25mm thickness.

Plastering is mainly internal work which ratio 1:5-1:6 is best for and for such size of room the OP asked 3-4bags of cement will perfectly do the job which is standard when you LESS all the openings in the room plus waste.

We just completed casting of our Decking today.

Total cost from piling to decked stage is ₦13m

Piling, pile cap, ground beam and German Floor cost ₦8million

Setting of blocks to decked slab ₦5m

Timeline

Piling 14th April to 9th May.

Pile Cap 16th May

Ground beam 23rd May

Ground Slab (German Floor) 30th May

Block setting to lintel 10th, June

Decking 21st June

We hope to commence block setting from Tuesday

Nice one there is a way to do simple design/construction to safe cost, but some others factors still contributed to some structure cost.

What happen to be a problem now is that he's scared of trusting a total stranger which is totally valid knowing how Nigeria is. But I know myself and I know that I don't live like that. I have worked for someone here on Nairaland and supplied to him down to Lagos from Nnewi. I happen to also sell mobile devices here to Nairalanders. These events were based on trust and none of them complained in any way.
