codedguy1: I remember Tinubu saying Buhari is a destabilizing factor! I guess this is what he meant. Ever since Buhari became president with Tinubus help APC seem to be destabilized.
Tinubu has no office, he is not a member of the NEC, neither is he in the NWC of APC, he is not an elected office holder and not the chairman of the party, even Atiku is vying to be APC BOT chairman. Where does that leave the supposed National leader of APC?
All tinubu has now is the respect he had garnered over years as the leader of APC and it is fast being eroded by elected officers in the party who are getting bolder by the day and can therefore challenge and oppose his position as National leader that has no mandate behind it. Tinubu do not have any political ambition that's why he is different and that makes him dangerous as he will simply help to kill the career of anyone that gang up against him. He simply have nothing to loss but Saraki, Altiku etc have a lot to loss if they continue to think they have the advantage through using their PDP cohorts who put Nigeria in this mess. |
Politics › Re: NASS Officers Election: Crisis Brews In PDP by Rotimi47: 5:28am On Jul 03, 2015 |
quickberry: Crisis is brewing in the Peoples Democratic Party over the choice of who should occupy some positions in the National Assembly among its senators.
One of the senators, who spoke with journalists on condition of anonymity in Abuja on Thursday, said powerful forces in the party were planning to instal their cronies as principal officers of the party in the National Assembly.
The party, through its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, had on Wednesday, announced the zoning of the offices to different zones.
Metuh said that in the Senate, the party has zoned the office of the Minority Leader to South-South, the position of the Minority Whip has been moved to North-Central, while the North-East and South-west will provide the Deputy Minority Leader and Deputy Minority Whip, respectively.
In the House of Representatives, Metuh said the PDP caucus in the chamber had already zoned the position of the Minority Leader to the South-South without informing the party.
He said the party had accepted the decision.
Metuh listed other offices as zoned by the party to include Minority Whip, which has been taken to the North-West, Deputy Minority Leader to come from the South-East while the North-East will fill the position of the Deputy Minority Whip.
Th senator said the zoning had pitched some influential leaders of the party, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, against the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, as well as the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike.
The family of the former President was said to be rooting for Sen. George Sekibo as Minority Leader while both Ekweremadu and Wike are against such choice.
The immediate-past Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, who is now senator, Chief Godswill Akpabio, is also said to have shown interest in the same position.
Akpabio’s ambition is against the Senate Rules on ranking.
The opposition party is expected to bring its decision on the zoning to the Senate on July 21, when the upper chamber resumes plenary.
A senator from the South-South zone, who spoke with journalists said that the crisis was “capable of weakening the PDP ahead of its role as a viable opposition party in the years ahead.”
He said, “We are seeing the All Progressives Congress crisis now, ours is also in the making because before July 21, if we too don’t sort ourselves out, we can at best say that what is capable of weakening the PDP ahead of its role as a viable opposition party in the years ahead may have been planted.
“We all thought the issue of Senate Minority Leader has been laid to rest until the DSP(Deputy Senate President) called us for a meeting in his house where he sort peoples’ opinion on the propriety or otherwise of selecting Sen. John Eno for the position.
“I think it was from there the former Akwa-Ibom governor got the feeling that if the matter has to be revisited, then he would take a shot at it, but he doesn’t know that his ambition is against the rules of the senate as regards the selection of its Principal Officers.
“Before then, we were all facing the challenge of the suggestion by the former president and his wife that we should consider Sekibo who is from Rivers state but the duo of Ekweremadu and Wike kicked against it.

I don't see any big deal with the transfer of prisoners to Anambra state because the federal government have the right to do such and I recently checked the map of Nigeria and I discovered that Anambra is still part of Nigeria; I believe the Igbo's will get over it because they are known to always talk tough and as such they should be able to easily deal with even the entire Boko Haram combined. I believe the federal government would have put the necessary security system in place, police, prison warders and the military likewise, the Igbo's have their militia group massob which they claim is powerful , they have Allie in the south south and even radio Biafra. No sweat because I trust that they can handle anything boko haram may want to throw at them because who born boko haram where them massob, Asari dokubo, south south and radio Biafra dey. |

porka: We warned yesterday that this Tinubu's media onslaught would backfire. The people they are dealing with operate on zero-tolerance policy for independence of mind, the media and criticism generally.
Yet we warned Tinubu and the Akandes of this world long ago that going into an 'alliance' with these people with a single strategy will take them no where, they said we are 'clueless'.
They think once you can put an RCCG 'pastor' to deputize the dullard cow herder all their problems would vanish overnight. They theorized that it was all about good versus bad governance. Once you have 'good governance' everything will fall into place.
We shouted 'let's push for the adoption of the Confab report, it is better than this your so-called alliance. We said "look, Nigeria's main issues are not as shallow rooted that can simply be solved by installing a 'puppet'". They said just watch and see.
It all seemed their main strategy was to install puppetry to be controlled by their 'sophisticated' economic and management 'Czars'. An extension of that strategy might be to think that the pastor would have a large space since the dullard is deficient in major parameters of 21st century leadership with an aging profile.
But it happened. And it happened very quickly. Our predictions are 99.9% accurate after all. It's a use and dump end.
If you are here and thinking this Akande's rant is all about Bukola Saraki's senate presidency, you are making a big mistake. Things have moved far from that. Tinubu and his herds are suddenly awaken to a brutal reality of their second-class status in the scheme of things. It is just too late.
'I am Muhammadu Buhari and I am Fulani' - Buhari 1961 (Courtesy Nigarian Army records). what funny prediction? Why can't people read between the lines! The statement states that the North knows that a fight with the south west will destroy Nigeria and some people are still making crap comments. The statement shows that the north do not want any confrontation with the south west because they know it won't be good for anyone but that can not be said of other bad Belle tribes. |

It better their leaders start meeting with the south west, though it might not be easy but as time goes on they might get what they want. |

frisky2good: Although I have not been able to confirm if the passport being circulated online by that website that is now practically synonymous with blackmail is genuine, I will base my argument on the assumption that "IF IT HAPPENS TO BE TRUE". My reason is simple: If it is found to be false, No case. It is only if the passport is confirmed to be genuine that we need to waste time deliberating on what the constitution says about the matter.
Now, what makes an individual a bonafide citizen of this country? According to the constitution (section 25),
25. (1) The following persons are citizens of Nigeria by birth-namely-
(a) every person born in Nigeria before the date of independence, either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents belongs or belonged to a community indigenous to Nigeria;
Provided that a person shall not become a citizen of Nigeria by virtue of this section if neither of his parents nor any of his grandparents was born in Nigeria.
(b) every person born in Nigeria after the date of independence either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents is a citizen of Nigeria; and
(c) every person born outside Nigeria either of whose parents is a citizen of Nigeria.
There are other criteria but let me stop here. Now, I do not know where Bukky was born but I know his parents were born here in Nigeria so he's a Nigerian ...........right?
Ok, let's continue.
What makes a man with a British passport become a Non-Nigerian? The constitution has the answer.
28. (1) Subject to the other provisions of this section, a person shall forfeit forthwith his Nigerian citizenship if, not being a citizen of Nigeria by birth, he acquires or retains the citizenship or nationality of a country, other than Nigeria, of which he is not a citizen by birth.
Please read this sentence very well because in this case if Bukky was either born in Nigeria or Uk, this section does not nullify his Nigerian citizenship.
Having established that Mr. Saraki is a bonafide Nigerian citizen, let's go to chapter IV (NATIONAL ASSEMBLY)
Qualifications for Membership of National Assembly and Right of Attendance
65
(1) Subject to the provisions of section 66 of this Constitution, a person shall be qualified for election as a member of:
(a) the Senate, if he is a citizen of Nigeria and has attained the age of 35 years
And what (concerning citizenship) disqualifies an individual?
66
(1) No person shall be qualified for election to the Senate or the House of Representatives if:
(a) subject to the provisions of section 28 of this Constitution, he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a country other than Nigeria or, except in such cases as may be prescribed by the National Assembly, has made a declaration of allegiance to such a country;
Since we have established that Saraki is a Nigerian citizen by virtue of his satisfying the provisions of section 28 of the constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria, I conclude based on the facts available that Saraki is qualified for the position of Senate president. You goofed on this one as people should understand that the person who posted the passport ain't saying he ain't a Nigerian but they are working to kill his presidential ambition; please, enlighten us on what the Constitution states about candidates running for President of Nigeria in regard of dual citizenship/place of birth. |

They should know that you don't take a pen knife to a gun fight. If Saraki is really wise he should just reach out to Tinubu and settle their difference or else it might really get ugly; he should remember how that of Jonathan started, he was sweet mouth by many people to go pound for pound with Tinubu because they have the funds, incumbency power and they're in the majority but all that don't move Tinubu a man that placed a big rule in NADECO and not to forget all those saying he have a bad record; if he's record is as bad the way people claim, John Kerry will never sit in the same room with Tinubu when he came to Nigeria to met with Buhari; America don't sit with criminals. Tinubu is the main person God used to help Buhari to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, God's plan that Altiku and many others tried to stop but they failed. Finally, people should remember that the same Tinubu was one of the high profile Nigerians that fought along with many Yoruba's so that Jonathan should be sworn in as President after the death of Yaradua at a time most tribes even Jonathan's tribe didn't openly do so on the streets and in front of guns , Armoured carrier's,tanks etc the same Northern and several other tribes who did nothing to support him later hijacked his administration immediately he was sworn in as President. This same Tinubu worked for him to become president during his first tenure instead of Ribadu and when he was asked why, Tinubu said he say something different in Jonathan which he believed made Jonathan the best candidate for Nigeria then but many sycophants made Jonathan to derail from his good intentions for Nigeria and that's why Tinubu had issues with Jonathan not that he hates him. |
