I hope Uhuru really work his butt to deliver this. This 1M housing units will transform our towns & cities and Universal HealthCare are achievable. Food Security & Manufacturing is hard nuts. Food Security is really a question of poverty & market access. Manufacturing is a tough nut with China and Asians manufacturing everything cheaply. Jonraid: |
You're malnourished and more food poor than us. You know why - you cannot produce anything beyond maize and beans - when you really try - you produce cashew nuts - which majority of kenyans stop producing - and went to highly yielding crops. You were growing fast thanks to minning - Nothing more than that. The Acacias were minning more and more gold. All that seem to have gone down the drains. Last year we grew at 6.3% and I think you did 6.5% down from 7.3%. This year we will do 6.5-7% - and you'll be luckly to hit 6%. Tanzanian and Manufacturing - that has got to be a joke. Azam millers ![]() Kazikazi: |
How did the Chinese mapping go. I think they had refused for NIS to be part of the mapping. It's true the Brits did the mineral mapping and hide the document. Jonraid: |
SADC is small boy compared to COMESA. I wonder what you export to SADC - it has to be the usual beans & maize & maybe timber. In COMESA we are second only to Egypt. We are still the big boys of EAC. And soon I think we will make a deal with Ethiopia. And beside we are really frying the big fish - Africa Free Trade Pact - and we will be in West and Central Africa soon. Kazikazi: |
Nairobi - towards Westland - before Westland got on "fire"

Another view of Nairobi downtown - very old pictures. |

Admittedly Nairobi is everything. Tourist city checked. Financial center checked. Industrial city checked. International city checked. Political seat checked. Entertainment city checked.

Calm down. Lagos will never compete with Nairobi. One is slumpolis. Another is modern city. https://www.roundtheworldexperts.co.uk/sites/roundtheworldexperts.co.uk/files/styles/desktop/public/images/nairobi_streets_flickr_id_16975699573.jpg?itok=IFg0m4jX https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/The_modern_skyline_of_Nairobi.jpg samsobo24: |
You're losing it. Nairobi is now a tourist city . The Kenya Police are looking for you -![]() samsobo24:

Haha. Kenya is not Owerri. You're used to slumpolis. Sit back and see what real modern city is like. edon21: |
Tanzanians are just crazy. “We should build a wall along the border with Tanzania! I think this is the best time for Kenyans to wake up on the four agendas. Promote trade and manufacturing within. #fairTradeKe ,” a Ruth (@Agribusiness 360) tweeted. “Hostility within the East African Community is metered out to Kenyans mainly by Tanzania. Even if Tanzania is claiming to protect its citizens from better economies, there is no need of violating the rights of Kenyan citizens living in Tanzania,” wrote Victor Mochere. Tanzania’s hardball is part of the reasons Kenya’s exports in EAC declined by 30 percent from USD 1.6 billion to USD 1.1 billion in the period 2012 to 2017 while imports have expanded by 60 percent from USD 0.4 billion to USD 0.6 billion in the same period. https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/economy/Kenyans-attack-Tanzania-on-social-media/3946234-4956866-qq5ebyz/index.html |
Yeap it my kind of fun. Kenya teams are starting to kick arse in Rhino Charge. I wish they could really advertize the event more. https://afktravel.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/off-road-truck.jpg https://naibor.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/RC-3-1.jpg https://www.theeastafrican.co.ke/image/view/-/607672/highRes/81874/-/maxw/600/-/wsj46qz/-/Rhino-charge.jpg Jonraid: |
Rhino Charge is crazy cool if you're into 4WDs. http://rhinocharge.co.ke/ https://www.the-star.co.ke/sites/default/files/styles/new_full_content/public/articles/2016/01/22/1280995.jpg?itok=vgCImtn1 |
Awesome - and the proceeds from Rhino Charge are use to electric fence mt kenya & Aberdeen forests. The world longest electric fence - 500kms long. https://www.newscientist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/30104201.jpg https://www.treesisters.org/images/treesisters/bilder/Tree_Plantings/Mt._Kenya_Fence.JPG https://www.newscientist.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/mg22530104.200-1_800.jpg Jonraid: |
hahaha. Nigeria airlines are just out of this world. I am not boarding such a contraption. edon21: |
Nation - then Standard - by huge margin trailing. Jonraid: |
There is barely anything Saudi here in Kenya. I think there is private activity from Dubai & Qatar. I don't think Saudis & the arabs are "intelligent" enough to do anything serious. I think Turkey would be a welcome partner & threat. I think turkey are slowly spreading their tentacles in Africa. I see the Saudis interest in Ethiopia screaming EGYPT. IT'S A TROJAN HORSE. THEY WANT TO STOP DAMMING OF NILE. so what better way than to shackle Ethiopia. kenya need to welcome the turkish - and we are not doing that. ednited: |
Awesome. Eldoret I think will overtake both Nakuru & Eldoret - if it hasn't already. Kisumu just isn't growing. Nakuru is growing - mostly eastward towards Nairobi. Kenyanstar: |
Of course. Tatu city & Alaro & Apolonia - is driven by Russian Rendevour. https://www.rendeavour.com/projects/ Ibrahimanis: |
Old Mutual - yes at least 40% of UAP OldMutual is kenyan. South Africans have raised their stake to 60%. Jonraid: |
1) Old Mutual is South Africa. They bought UAP last year - long after that towers had been built by Kenya. They own 60% of UAP Old Mutual - and kenyan still own 40% of it. 2) Britam is kenyan.Top owners include businessman Peter Munga, Britam CEO Benson Wairegi, Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi and investment banker Jimnah Mbaru. They have a combined stake of 53.1 per cent in the insure. 3) Le Mac is an apartment for sale - so it owned by Kenyans who will buy units. Kazikazi: |
Kenya hold elections every 5yrs. Uhuru is on his 2nd and last term so won't be eligible. There is talk of constitutional change to accommodate more political elite and satisfy more tribal interests. We shall see how it pans out - next election will be held in August 2022. Kenya democracy is obviously amongst the best in Africa. I think Ghana seem definitely ahead of us. Our politics hobbled though by ethnicity - and has a long way to get to isssue-based politics. Kenya has freedom of press/ name it. As regard Kenya Airways. I think the big deal breaker if that we are handing our main airport (JKIA -NBO) to kenya Airways like you've done to ET in Bole. That way KQ balance sheet can be butress and can face all these new & old airplines that depend on gov largesses. KQ until it hit the head winds was on it's on - a private company - now it slowly becoming a public company. KQ will ran JKIA for 30yrs - and that should help them face competition. South Africa Airways I think is beyond being salvage. We shall see but it's indebted to the eyeballs and has not made profit the last 7yrs. ednited: |
I think you're confusing 1) by-pass and 2) Inter-change. I think by-pass start from somewhere before eldoret - Cheplaskei - then emerges in railway junction Leseru/Juakali. Kenyanstar: |
Fact is most of international media have their Africa or at least regional HQ in Nairobi - CNN, Reuters, BBC, Chinese, name them. Ethiopia and Nigeria also don't have freedom of press you find in Nairobi. International media cannot just go and report. Also kenya terrorism normally target western interests - so obviously there is interest in international media. ednited: |
I am going to leave it. edon21: |
Hahaha.Omo state had 3,927,563 in 2006 - 10yrs later maybe we can say it 5M. Owerri the city has 1.5M living in the slumpolis and it look really shitty. edon21: |
Nakuru city - a city of less than 250k - again that is like 6 times less populated than Owerri.
|
That is Kisumu. Eldoret is not even 250K population wise. That is like 6 times less than Owerri but it looks good...has some skyscrappers. THis is eldoret - a city of less than 1/4 million. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4538/37656901745_e656ac03a2_b.jpg https://www.eldoretleo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Mups3-3.jpg https://www.eldoretleo.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Mups4-4.jpg PROVERBZ:

Woah - the road reserve must be huge. Eldoret really need the by-pass. I don't there has been any progress there. Kenyanstar: |
