Why do you want to compare a town of less than 50k people - with a city of 1.5M. That is like 30 times bigger. But we know you're a desperate Nigerian.

Imagine Nakuru & Eldoret are barely 250K or not - that is like 6 times less than population of Owerri - and they look light years ahead of that Slumpolis Owerri. I saw the highlight is some roundabout.

Kisumu with 0.5M - about 1/3 of Owerri looks way better.

Owerri a city of 1,401,873 looks very underwhelming. Kenya cities with 250K population can ran cycle around your slumpolis owerri. Mombasa probably has less population than Owerri.

They need a leader who will be honest with them. Magufuli is a fool. I think Mkapa & Kikwete were better. Magufuli is another Nyerere - his gigantic ego cannot allow him to learn from Kenya.

Tanzania if they allowed Kenya business & people to invest in their economy would quickly rise from it's current doldrums.

Kur17:
While they've invested zero back in Kenya... they have more natural resources, peaceful, larger population and they just can't utilise them

And they are very foolish instead of being proud of a helpful neighbour, they become extremely jealous to an extent of enjoying when we had a terrorist attack

I think for more than 20yrs - Kenya has been one of Tanzania main source of FDI. They have tried to make it hard for Kenya business to thrive there preferring South Africans - but generally they are hopeless without Kenyans.

In Tanzania, the top FDI sources featured UK at 23 per cent, India and Kenya at 15 per cent.

On contrary Kenya is Africa Main SOURCE OF FDIs competing with South Africa.

https://www.nation.co.ke/business/Kenya-overtakes-SA-as-biggest-investor-in-African-countries/996-3320992-y8eciaz/index.html

For example:
Kenya overtook South Africa to become the biggest investor in other African countries in terms of the number of projects in 2015.

Kenya invested in 36 projects last year in other parts of the continent against South Africa’s 33, a new study by financial consulting firm Ernst & Young shows.

Of course. Our cities are also doing a great job trying to prevent slums emerging everywhere by stricty enforcing zonal laws. You cannot just wake up and build anything anywhere..even if the land is yours. That is what ail Nigeria. You just wake up and put anything up. There are no building laws, your neighbour don't get to raise objections, you don't explain how you'll deal with enviromental issues.

You just wake up and build anything. And soon you got a mismash or sphaghetti of slums next to office block next to hotel next to church next to brothel - that is a SLUMPOLIS.

The trick is to avoid the whole city turning into a big slum. A problem contained is half solved. Now imagine if you wanted to modernize a slumpolis like many of Nigeria cities. How do you even start. In Nairobi - we go to 5% of landmass that has slums and modernize them.

And Voila Nairobi is LONDON.

dadark:
blabla....the trick is to have as little as possible slums....kenya is very bad in that....

nigerians are more better in it,although it hurts alot of poor nigerians....

You're the worst of the Nigerians here.

Lagos incl. EAC-----------------38------Nigeria. Read that again LAGOS INCLUSIVE EAC.

I am not sure if you know what 20 floor building is - how about you count for us that building in Leki.

Secondly Nairobi has more high rises than Lagos.

Nairobi has far MORE under construction than Lagos. Include all the islands and all the renders.

samsobo24:
You are even contradicting yourself

Let me pretend Lagos has 38
Lagos has 38 and EAC has 8 = 46

And why don't you bring height into consideration, you are afraid

Many buildings are under construction in Lagos that are not listed, the LFT zone will have skyscraper/s ,the imperial international business city, the lekki smart city the EAC will have more than a thousand high rises, the Orange island, Diamond island, pewrinkle island etc are all there.

Now tell me when VI was created and calculate its massive rapid developmental changes.

Take a look at this building in LFT zone, I can assure it isn't among the skyscrapers

High rises are in Lagos mainland CBD,Ikeja and places like Surulere,Apapa,Yaba etc.

How can you think a CBD city like Nairobi can compete with Africa's largest city

Now tell me Lagos isn't Africas largest city

Nairobi is a lord in Kenya and not in Africa

Forget GDP. You don't pay debts with GDP. Focus on revenues. Our total tax+AIA - are about 20B dollars annually. That is the money in the bank.

China total debt to Kenya is what 7-8B dollars. Kenya gov shares in Safaricom is about that. In short today our treasury can release its shareholding of Safaricom and pay off China debt with a snap of a finger.

And kenya gov - unlike Nigeria federal gov that already sold "everything" - owns more than 300 companies. It possibly gov has substantial shareholding in more than 500 serious companies.

In short worry about Nigeria that has had 18B dollar of debt forgiven for being so hopeless unable to pay. The same with Tanzania.

Our gov collect so much taxes - and has so many assets - China should simply open their purse whenever kenya ask for debt.

obaaderemi:
All these paltry sums added up gives less than $6bn. My man, your GDP is cooked. grin No way you can pay your way out of debt with those paltry incomes plus your small sized home market. Your goose is cooked and China is at the door. Beware.

What difference would it make - 1% and 0% - that is called hair splitting - a worthless exercise- the elephant in the room is Nigeria's poverty line that is above 50%. Deal with that.

Our GDP is AFRICA LARGEST NON-MINERAL ECONOMY IN AFRICA. That mean our economy that is now 90B dollars - has been built BY THE SWEAT OF OUR BROWS. You gotta respect that. We didn't wait for Shell to explore and ship oil.

obaaderemi:
Where is your proof that there is 0% poverty in Egypt? You can't just talk without substantiating it. If you were productive your shittyy economy would not be $60bn and borrowed to the eyeballs.

You know why Nigeria is cursed. It precisely because of that. Their agricluture is archaic. They basically import everything. That is why their Naira cannot wistand the dollar. They will claims to have 80B -dollars worth of agricluture - but they will import sugar, milk powder, rice, wheat, maize, name it. Maybe only yams & cassava & sorhum-millet - they are sufficient.

Anyway Kenya need to get there - and start selling milk powder. I know French Conglomerate Danone - runs the dairy show in most of west Africa - but as soon as they ratify the Africa Free Trade - we need to ship powder milk there.

Fulani cows are like Maasai cows. They cannot help anybody. They are just causing environmental degradation. Those are as good as keeping wild animals. We need IMPROVED BREEDS. Fulani cow you'll struggle to milk a liter out of it - while modern breeds you can get 40-50 liters - that is more like 40 times more productivity.

Jonraid:
The thin Fulani cows won't even give you a cup of milk! These are what Nigeria needs to prop up its milk production!
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by rvp2018: 3:34pm On Jan 28, 2019
It's probably more now - I think we are doing 6B litres annually. Our dairy sector is definitely admirable. Nigeria and their fulani cows - worth 80B of dollars smiley - still import tonnes of powder milk. It the market Kenya really need to tap in. Export of powder milk to Nigeria.
Jonraid:
Kenya's dairy sector contributes 2 billion US dollars to the GDP,the sector produces about 5 billion litres of milk annually!

Kenya’s 1 million stockholders keep the largest dairy herd in Africa (larger than South Africa) according to Jimmy Smith, Director of ILRI. The industry contributes about USD 2 billion to the country’s GDP, according to USAID, considering the sector includes farmers, traders and vendors, collection centres, processors, and retailers.

Kenya’s dairy production sector is characterised by a huge number of small-scale farmers, who make up 70-80% of the total production. The co-operative system contributed significantly to the development of the dairy sector in the country with the emergence of the Kenya Co-operative Creameries.

The Rift Valley and Central regions produce the bulk of the milk in the country. However, other regions, including Eastern, Nyanza and Western regions also produce significant quantities of milk.

Our biggest export is tea. We should be exporting nearly 1.5B dollars worth of tea now. Horticulture is also nearly 1.5B dollars. That should give your roughly 3B dollars. If you need still help with 1B dollar - then coffee is around 200-300M dollars. You probably still need my help to find you 700M worth of agricluture export or can you do this on your own. Fish and related should set you around 100M dollars. Still need help finding 600M dollars?
