The men in the original post clearly showed some arrogance.

Other posters have helped to balance out this arrogance thing though. Clearly in the Naija setting, the propensity for arrogance rests with the one with the power.

Pre and during toasting, the power rests with the ladies so that's the likely source of arrogance.

Post toasting/marriage, the power rests with the man which is where the arrogance has come from in this post.
You are on point there.

ronkebp:
I like the ''power'' part, it is true, that is why the power thingy should be 50-50. So that nobody is taking the other for granted.
It is really hard to let these current generation young girls not let the power get to their heads, especially Naija girls. It gets in their head hard and they think they have to misuse it. That is why I rarely have pity for majority of them when they lose the power when older and the boot is on the other foot.
I have no choice. I have to sign one. He has family and I have family, we are from 2 different countries and 2 different cultures. We will sign one in Nigeria and one in America - before we marry.

My primary concern is death, NOT DIVORCE. But whether it is divorce or death. A prenup will protect my family and his family so whatever happens between us, both of our families walk away with resources that will care for them for years to come.

If he is against it, I will marry someone who sees the logic in it and is acceptable of it. I've worked hard for what I have and so has he, TRUE LOVE isn't ignorant, nor is it careless, unwise or leave itself open to risky behavior.

My love for him and my love for self dictates that an agreement is put into place that will benefit both families in the event of divorce or death. If I have a man that cannot see the necessity for a prenup, obviously doesn't have my best interest at heart and isn't the man for me.
Which country is he from?

As I said: don't give them an inch.

I don't know how someone can lose his means of livelihood for saying something as simple as this:

Criminalise it!

Well done, Senators!

Any single girl who is unmarried or has no child of her own at the age of 35 for no justifiable reason must be stoned to death because they are the ones causing the problem of the world today. The reason is because at that age they become desperate and capable of killing anybody so before they achieve their aim they must be stoned.

Why on earth will a lady given birth to be another woman wake up and open her mouth to say she doesnt want to be married, such a lady is a witch and the bible says suffer not a witch to live she must be stoned publicly until she breaths her last.

All girls from the age of 21 to 31 must make all necessary efforst to be settled. Also all men must make sure that they target ladies within this age bracket for marriage. If you must go outside that range then due deligence and caution must be applied, because outside that age bracket you will find LovePeddler who have globe trottled and then they are now tired, you will find divorcee, you will find short one and all sorts in that age bracket.
Simply put: Cretinous mental patient.

Unfortunately Nigeria is too poor to afford strait-jackets.

crownx2:
1.  Marriage makes your life complete whether you are a man or woman. If it is not necessary God wouldn't have start it. Remember the foolishness God is far better than the wisdom of human-being.
2.  Marriage makes you a responsible person in all ramification. Only lazy people run away from responsibilities, while responsible people stay together even with someone of different personality to theirs.
3.  Marriage gives you social acceptability. To the society, they see you as a serious, matured, liable and dependable person.

Therefore, I don't think one should stay unmarried.

However, please don't put your mind or effort in getting married to a "right man". But work very hard on yourself to become "right person" good for anyone, because if you are good and matured enough then the law of attraction will take place. The law of attraction says: "Likes attract likes"
What a bunch of moronic junk!

Only point 3 made any sense.

Yep.

I will consider but frankly they are not the most alluring race to my taste. I am usually attracted to few white girls, not most. I am strongly attracted to some though.

Most importantly, I am not keen on some aspects of their culture, which makes thinking of marrying them a bit harder.

What is no ni?
It is a phrase WizKid uses alot. Samklef is the producer of Wizkid.

"No ni" means "it is" or "as in". So when Wizkid wants to hype and promote his producer he saws "Samklef no ni", meaning "It is Samklef". The implicit benefit of it is that the "no ni" sounds funny but yet cool when used. It is a major asset of Wizkid's cool but authentic style. 2face has his own cool one - "Yes o". D'Banj - "fi le" (Leave it). Timaya - "See", "Hey", "Chai" and his crazy, lovely dance steps. grin

OAM4J:
Am sure too say part 2 dey. You know say Naija no dey release the whole story for one film nao.

Oya Saga, I gbadun (enjoy) the part1 , wey the part 2, Omo Sagamu no dey carry last na  grin
Una both dey partially right. I did break it down, the thing get part 2 but the part 2 no get leading actress in it.

I broke it down because they are 2 different but linked stories that are best digested semi-separately.

What really made me reminisce over this past na when one oyinbo girl I was chatting to was saying her good family area was becoming more dangerous as people were being stabbed (7 in the last 2 years or so). So I was wondering what kind of place is that, and whether I ever faced such risk before. I come remember say for my A-level college at least 2 people were stabbed. One was in a toilet I just left about 10 minutes earlier.

Let me give a brief description of the social circle in the college. There were few of us doing A-levels (which was harder), while most of the other kids were doing more vocational and less academic courses like Access courses. When you dey library, you will know the difference. We the A-level students were always trying to study hard and the others mostly were just chatting. The library was divided into 2 floors, quiet on the top floor, and a bit relaxed on the ground. The issue be say the fine girls (doing courses like hair dressing) were normally on the ground floor, and since me I fit read for noise and I like women well (back then sha grin), na ground floor I go dey study. So I was able to meet and chat with these babes well well.

There is also a distinction in the dressing style. We African bush boys and girls wey just land from ship, wey bring us, dey normally wear our Timbaland boots and designer shirts (Rap Lauren, Tope Hillsfigure, YSR, Guchi etc) when we wan baff up for school. The black British-raised pikins are distinct from us because they wear Nike/Adidas/Puma trainers and tracksuit stuff when they baff up for school. So instantly you fit know who be Britico and who be Africo. Then about 70% of we few Africans were A-levels students, the Britico were mostly just there to run time, only a handful were doing A-levels and some few serious softer course students. The rest of the A-level classes were other races (Arabs, Indians, Chinese, poor whites).

Also, when it came to quantitative subjects, for that period in that school all the A-level students knew there were 3 of us (all Africans) you can take any question in the text book to and it would be solved immediately. Me wey don do Further Maths like a winch for Naija, A-level maths was a walk in the park. So some people that were on the softer courses may have been looking at me like if say I be JJC (Johnny Just Come) African geek. Geek for that kin school is at risk of bullying if im no know anything.

That na the brief insight to get the context of Part 2.

Na im I dey inside library one day just before some A-level exams dey study some Maths, that is when I see one black hooded bloke dey prance towards me, with some awkward bouncing with im track suit attire. I dey wonder say wetin dey do this guy, im don smoke something wey im no fit find the book im dey look for for the library.

I had only seen the guy with my eyes probably 2 times previously, so I no know am. Those 2 times na just to see am with a group of hip-"poppy" wannabees. But these kat was swagging towards me and staring at me. I was like "Sho? Na me im dey look o, no be another persin" because that day was a Friday at about 5.30pm and the library was dead, I was the only one on the ground floor library.

Na im im come, come seat opposite me come tell me say:

"Yo, bruv, I heard you took Sandy out, innit?"

I look am say wetin consign this one. He was looking at me with a vicious gangster soft smirk like "No, no, no, no nigga, you don't understand".

"I heard you took her to your house and da cinema and was trying shyt innit?"

"That's my woman, bruv! You took my girl out and were trying shyt" Smiling and moving his head left and right viciously like a gangster wey see prey wey im wan scare.

I just siddon there dazed. In my head, I was clapping like a market woman and screaming "Ahhh! Alakori, Weyree (Cursed head, Mad man)"

"Bruv, next time, don't be trying that shyt bruv. I don't want to ever see you near my girl again bruv. You understand?".

Kai! Weyree pa de weyree! Weyree di x 2. (Mad man meets mad man. It becomes Mad man x 2)

I look am and said: "You are MAD!". The guy look me dey think say  "sho! this geek ke. Im no dey fear". I just dey look say this foool no know nada. Im no know me. No be im fault o. I get baby face (especially back then) and people tend to take the piss. I had faced it right from my time in boarding school till today. Dem no know say I be stubborn goat and when I was a teenager, fight no be big deal. If you start am, I go help you stoke am and end am for your head.

Because I look fresh and all, people think say dem fit bully me? Me wey be shampion for under that Ojuelegba flyover. Wey I go dey for road dey slap conductors as dem dey pass on dem danfo. I win all the gidigbo (Yoruba wrestling) for the Ojuelegba flyover ward of area boys where I win 2 danfos as prize. I come go as ward champion to the National Stadium ward beat them shampion come win im Molue.

That is by the way sha! grin

I told him next "You are crazy!" The guy was shocked. He stood up and was like in a cool gangster tone: "Bruv" Smiling and looking around like "oh, this guy is dissing me. He does not know who he is messing with". He was now saying: "I am just warning you, blad. You don't know who you are messing with".

I stood up too and went in his face and was like: "Who are you? Are you crazy. Who the fck are you? Michael Jackson. Why should I know you". He continued with that smile/smirk and trying to look around menacingly but I could see he was loosing his nerve, and scared and it was all an act as he never expected geek to talk back and my voice is scary when annoyed for those that know me in real life and have heard it. The 2 library staff that were there were already looking from a distance and I bet scared.

Una know say I no like cretins, I told him: "You are a fooool! Your girl accepted my invite to go to the cinema, came to my house and you think it is me you should come and meet and talk to. You are a lunatic!". "Do I know you? I am suppose to know if she has a boyfriend? You came to meet me? You are MAD!".

He was dumbfounded (and probably feeling stewpid) but still trying not to lose face because I bet he had told his fellow lowlife friends he was going to scare that "kat off his woman". Oloshi! So he continued smiling and looking at me like "You are messing with the wrong kat, bruv". This guy was just useless.

The oyinbo library woman (one wey wan do me that time grin. 38 year old wey wan do ebony teenage horse dey give me signal and tell me she stays in my area and I should come and visit. I no fit, she get these wonky oyinbo smoker teeth, I tell myself "nah"! grin). Anyway, she now came over and told us that we need to take it out of the library that they are closing anyway.

So this foooool was walking off while I was packing my books and when I did leave the library. Outside the library, I met one of my Naija paddies for the college. This paddy was older than most of us and was doing Access course. Maybe about 5-7 years older. Na one of those "let me go back to school and get some qualifications guy". Although he was a very good looking guy (Tall and Athletic, played football alot - semi-pro and why he left education in the first place and had to come back), he was a complete Eko (i.e. Lagos) boy. You know those guys that wear chain and were the ones that will take rams to fights for Sallah? That na the guy. The finer ones with a nice face like Adewale Ayuba. Tough looking, not butter looking like me at all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUc1HHrzgnA

As I have always said, I am an Man's man, so this guy liked me alot. So he was like whatsup. I told him what just happened, he was like "WHAT! Which guy?" I tried to describe. He was like "Ah what is wrong with him? Come and show me. Ma pe awon boys lo ri mobile wa yo sibi pelu ada. Inu boot lo ma fi si now. (I will call my homeboys on my mobile and they will show up here with cutlasses. They keep that kind of shyt in the boot)". I was laughing and like "B, no o! No be big deal like that na. I don already warn the guy off. He was just fronting he can't do shyt". B was still fuming and hyped.

At that point, that is when this foool came out of the college with one of his friends and saw me with B. The way I looked at him, B knew he was the one and tapped me and pointed to him, and I nodded. B just started looking at him cold. The guy just continued walking away. He never dared disturb me in that college again.

One time, I went to Sunday carnival on my own as I was living in Notting Hill then, I was completely on my own because my friends go on the Monday (adult) one. That is when in the crowd I saw the guy and he was with about 8 friends. I just looked at him and he saw me tried to look menacing but continued just dancing away. Maybe it was the fine 15 year old or so girl they were chasing that distracted him, maybe he thought I was with my crew (that he could not see) as well, maybe B's look scared him off permanently, I don't know because considering the British kids today, that was a close shave.

The moral of the story was that I was young, naive and foolhardy. I was still having the impression that if it comes to it, we will fight, I will box him out and beat the fck out of him (like a typical Nigerian youth fight) but reality is that these britico kids don't box, they shank (knife). I didn't know that as a fresh JJC, on those 2 occasions I could have been shanked.

That was why I remembered these stories when the white girl said shanking was becoming common in her area. That is the closest I have come to being shanked.

Nairaland GeneralRe: O Ye My People! by Sagamite(m):
This week I had a conversation that made me reminisce on my past.

It was back in the day in school, pre-university. I had a group of friends, mostly Naija boys, we used to hang together in the school library and we used to mix with some other black britico girls. Being teenage girls, these babes were mostly fine. Fresh and at their peak visually. We as teenage boys too, hormone they rage. My eye no fit stay in im socket when I dey that school.

There was this particular Sierra Leonean, British-raised girl with enough on her body to make a man go gaga. After knowing her for a few months, I asked her to come out with me, make we go to cinema. She agreed.

On the agreed date, she came to my area, I met her at the bus stop and she said we should go to my house that she wants to chill first. I noticed she was dressed so nice, so I knew I was in since she was making an effort. Although that time these African pikins of the UK no dey like the ones of today that are proud to be African. Back then, dem dey try look like Jamo, so she had this seriously gelled hair wey the hair go stand gedegbe like if say im hair na banana tree leaf. I just dey look the cleavage on the display panel and the hips on this omo. She was giving me full display. I was making my moves and she dey respond. Dey let me tap current like person wey no dey pay im NEPA bills while she dey smile. I was like "Ah, I go perform wonder o". I was already planning wetin I go do and the special move I go give this girl when kasala point reach. I left her in the sitting room and went into my bedroom to arrange it and study the spatial generosity of the room when the babe lie there and I do the special move I had been planning (front flip and land in the "bullseye" ).

Not to rush things and to avoid showing my desperation (I don dey plan for the girl for long), I decided to keep with my invitation promise and we should go and catch a movie as we planned. We left the house, caught the bus (I no get car those days o) and went to the cinema park, most times with me gently holding her hands. I bought tickets for a film (back seats, of course) and some popcorn and drinks for her. I can't remember the name but maybe it was "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song" considering it was 1971 when I was in school pre-university. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Sweetback%27s_Baadasssss_Song

We siddon for back and dey watch movie with my hands on her shoulder and she leaning towards me. Everything was just jellying men. I just dey kampe with a chic I had been planning for for months. I no fit wait make the yeye film finish make I wire this ele, men, and launch my koboko. I just dey pissed with myself say I select film wey be about 2 and the half hours or more when I could have selected any that was 90mins or less.

Na so we dey for back and I dey soft smooch, na him I just get GBAM for my face. I swear my eyes suddenly become more powerful than NASA telescopes as I dey see STARS of different colours. I no dey joke o, I swear I was seeing a rainbow of stars as na inside cinema I dey and the place dey dark when person slap me straight for my eyes (not cheeks). You dey ask which person? Na my date wey I dey smooch for the past 30 minutes or so o. No be say I don do anything different or even gone out of hand o. I no try UnCloth am or anything indecent and she never said a word of complaint or body language of resistance from the point of meeting up and till the point of my slap for cinema.

I looked at her, spreading out my hands like what the fck is wrong with you, while getting up at the same time. GBOSA!!! I get another slap right in the face, I was seeing more planets that NASA are just discovering recently. White star, blue star, light orange star, grey star and so on. The girl no dey miss her target: on the face between the nose and my eyebrows was the epicentre of the thunder slaps.

I was livid, I got up and the girl got up ready to fight me with her umbrella raised and telling me to "Come on!". Some people in the Cinema even turned back to look what was happening.

My Bad Angel on my left shoulder was like [in African Accent]: "Sag, whoop this b1tch, man mi! For leti (Slap her)"

My Player Angel on the right shoulder was like [in Yankee Accent]: "Nigga wait! Remember her booobies. Those shyt are succulent. If you whoop her, she aint gonna let you slam. You aint gonna feel that succulent shyt. We are almost close to getting it, Nigga. Don't throw the babe out with the bad water. We have waited for months for this shyt".

Bad Angel: "Omo, whoop the b1tch! What the fck did you do to deserve 2 slaps. She knew what she came there for and was encouraging you all day. Give her a slap let her visit the planets you have visited this afternoon without visa."

Player Angel: "Nigga, look at her. See how hot the babe looks. Look at that cleavage. If you whoop her arsse and the cinema staff call the police on you people who would believe you were able to control yourself and were not trying to sexually assault her in the dark if she claims so and she was only defending herself. You wanna go to jail, Nigga? The policeman himself will take the pix of her cleavage and arsse and take it to court as evidence, saying 'My Lord, how could he claim he resisted touching these?'. You wanna spend a few nights behind bars?"

I came back to my senses and sat back down. She sat back down and continued watching the movie. I just sat there dazed wondering what the fck was the problem but hoping she would calm down and I would still get to launch my Koboko as I had set my sight on a launcheon party. My people, teenage hormones get power pass brain o.

After the movie, we left the cinema together and she said goodbye nicely and walked to the station. My loss was complete.

My people, "Omo ni mo ro pe ima je, she ni mo n je'foti" (Na babe I think say I go chop, I come dey chop slaps).

{Looks to the skies} I had no choice but to leave her to God. Let God be the judge of what she did to me when I was expecting something else.

Na after about 2 weeks wey my fear of shame don come down small, I tell one of my homeboys (actually the one I was referring to here: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-760569.0.html#msg9155035) what happened. After he laughed at me, he said he is not surprised. I asked why. He said "Don't I know ni? The babe is not completely screwed on and she behaves awkward sometimes, he does not think she is completely okay up there".

When after a month or so, after things had calmed down and I had seen her a few times, I asked her why the slaps, she said I was eating too much out of the popcorn I bought her when I said I did not want any and did not buy for myself.

On that note: any of Mr. Oyedepo's minions recall what happened when Mrs. Oyedepo was ill??

It appears the people who took care of Mrs. Oyedepo were not prayer warriors at her husband's church

Yet, these deceived m-o-r-o-n-s keep proclaiming him lord and master.
Eh-ehn? So Ole-depo did not slap the winch disturbing her? He used the mugu congregation's money to take her to a white winch doctor for treatment? grin grin grin

I am sure even if he no fit take am abroad, he would take her to Westerhof, since he is the most respected white winch. grin grin grin

They fail to realise the real witches are the POliticians who have spent millions on power, yet keep them in DARKNESS.
They fail to realise the real witches are the LEaders that turned knowledge centers(schools) to cult centers, ashawo centers and Maltina Dance Hall audition centers,
They fail to realise the real witches are the ONes that collect their PHYSICAL blessings in exchange for so called 'SPIRITUAL' blessings,  while the crooks' words are made manifest (jeeps, jets) they keep holding on to faith for their breakthrough. If that man has the key to breakthrough, why isn't it working for you?
They fail to realise the real witches are not the little children, it's the govt that has given them a country without structure, where not even a cup of rice has a steady price,
They fail to realise WHO THE REAL WITCHES are, therefore they've loved darkness even more,  cos the less they see, the more comfortable they are,
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

They have ruined them to the point they think they need some spiritual intervention to escape their harsh world.

When Ole-depo is ill, you can be guaranteed he would use their money to head to the people that do not believe in winches for expert help while he tells them it is winches disturbing them when it is they who are ill.

Con man they foool mugus!

She is deceived . Some witches believe their witchcraft is for good, some claim that a divine being or Jesus appeared to them showing them how to do charm. On that ground she might have claimed "witch for Jesus"
Maybe it is those good winches that help the West to the Moon, space and even send robots to Mars.

It is because they believe in winches they are so advanced and have advanced healthcare your looting pastors will take your money and go and use when ill.

All those Western doctors just diagnose the winch disturbing you by prayer. Ole-depo will not be able to cure his own winches but will use them.

So let your daft arses continue believing in winches because it is believing in winches that is making the West leave us behind.

Na Winch o! Winch for Nigeria! Winch of 2012.

Don't have a profession am crazy about.
Any work that gives him joy and he has passion for.
Only thing I'd love is a responsible, mature man who loves God, cherishes me to the last, and is INTELLIGENT. Someone I can learn from.
To me, what is sexy is a man that has all those qualities and remains 100% faithful. THAT is sexy.
I can't particularly love an entity I don't know and would never know. grin

Apart from that, mo sexy gan! grin grin grin

He's turn over a new leaf. He's friendlier, more just and more analytical. I don't want him to be mean to other posters, but, you can't deny his brilliance.
Also, his posts as King of Lagos have been top notch; more balanced and less vituperation.
As the undisputed King of Lagos (his ID) cheesy, I can assure you, Stranger means well.
Are you havin a laff, bruv?!

You a comic, brethen?!

How can such come from a poo brain?

Are you trying to be serious or you just pulling my legs, blad?

I can bet you there is hardly any string of 10 meaningful posts by the reetard I would not cut to shred and find holes in in 20 seconds. And that includes reading time.

Sense and fstranger can never mix.
