We are our own problem in this country, that's why we get the clowns we have as leaders. Instead of discussing the substance of the matter we playing to the gallery. Why should a critical endeavour like the NIN be thrown out because of the shortcomings of one man. "ordinary" Ghana here (pardon my French Ghanaians) takes biometric data of aliens at ports of entry. In China you can't use your sim if it's not linked to some kind of id (like international passport). Here some paid urchin are wiping up sentiments on social media about the person of the minister (which I have no problem if it is genuine background check) just to destroy the SIM REGISTRATION EXERCISE. Silent majority of Nigerians if we continue in this pacifist attitude of ours and let good policies or noble intentions destroyed by rogue minorities with exaggerated online footprint, then we will be tossed around like balls in a field |
Guys pls let's stick to topic. this is more of experience sharing so that others can benefit |
Please mods put this in the right section. I bought 10,000 naira units and got 194 units in march, This month - April I bought same 10,000 and got 187 units, has anyone noticed. Has there been a price increase? Are the Discos shortchanging customers clandestinely? Has anyone noticed this? I have contacted them on Twitter and Facebook but no response

ariketalks:Like some one said this is a one sided story bordering defamation. I would have agreed with your suggestion if he provided evidence that the man's pay is not being cut like a pay slip then we can crucify the Indian. Imagine if the Indian was the OP and claimed the employee was a bad person, doesn't come to work etc. and did not provide us with evidence. Will it be right for us to go to the employees social media and recommend to dangote he is sacked without evidence. You think about it. |
That's not a good character of an employee you displayed. 1. This is just your part of the story. We haven't heard the other side so we can't conclude. 2. If this is a company wide decision why are you trying so much to demonize one man - even posting his personal profile? Don't you have HR? Don't you have a Union? Have you explored that? 3. What you are doing will bring dispute to your company (This is a company wide decision from the info you provided, last week we saw Asians protesting at same dangote site some where.) But if you want we can help you kill your company's reputation for you |
11Anonymous:Here it is you can see from 1st to date I have used over 19GB. How then is it possible to have used 22GB just within 24 hrs?
|
Tomjazzy2:Start with this https://online.hbs.edu/courses/free-business-lessons/ You also checkout edX (google it) |
Greatzeus:Really! All these insults for something you don't understand. I put photo evidence up, you didn't debunk it or clarify it you just went off tangent ranting about something else. I won't dignify such with an explanation. |
Babatunde40: I know where you are heading but not everyone is like that. There are lots of free online courses you can take during this lockdown from schools such as Harvard, MIT etc. These require data you know |
Please see this thread for how glo cheated me https://www.nairaland.com/5775322/beware-just-discovered-why-data |
Please front page moderators so that people learn the pranks played. God knows how much these guys have stolen from me over the years |
I will update it soon |
The second pic below shows the start of my 10K 60GB billing, notice how it was not zerorized and my previous consumption from the previous sub was transferred to my new sub and instantly wiped off 15.8GB of the 60GB even before I have started using it.
|
Now to dig further I went to their hsi.glo page to see details of my transactions and what I found spooked me. You know when you are in a queue to buy fuel and the sales guy sells to the car in front but does not reset the meter to zero and continue serving you? That's exactly what's happening! My previous 15GB which was exhausted yesterday morning before I did the 50GB subscription? Apparently what glo did was not to cancel my "meter" reading to zero and continued billing me for the 50GB (or 60GB with the 20%) and that's why they have already billed me 22GB out of the 60GB in 24hrs! The pic shows my transaction yesterday while I was still on 5K bundle and I had already exhausted 13.6GB of the 15GB
|
Ok here's the back ground. I use the glo network, the 5k monthly bundle that gives you 15GB (this hardly last 2 weeks, but that's not the point here). So I saw an ad by glo saying you'll get 20% extra @ this covid season across all data, so I went for the 10K bundle for 50GB (and with the 20% that will be 60GB). I did this subscription yesterday 04.04.2020 around 10.47am. 24hrs later (today) I checked my balance and I noticed I have already used 22GB out of the 60GB! (Remember I used to use 15GB for 2 - 3 weeks and now 22GB in 24hrs! There is something wrong) Correct me if am wrong the pics below show that I have used 22GB already. And if the green data gauge is anything to go by 1/3 of the total area is already shaded green

Hmmm! I understand your varying view points above, eventhough I dont agree with them all. To some the banter is fun, to some the unruly arguments is a reflection of our society and our hypocrisy. While to to others the hate drives traffic. Agreed, I will be guilty of what I oppose if I asked for complete ban of such "normalcy". That's life we cant all be the same. What I proposed was a different section or subsection in say politics where discussions on policy, issues and global affairs can be held coherently. Our leaders today take us as nothing to write home about that's why we have all these mediocrity all over (physical cash handouts, Eba and egusi handouts) and when a discussion is started on these issues some one is either calling you out based on ethnicity or base on "shift for road if you no want collect". The new section will mean the young generation can learn from focused and engaging discussions while we also learn what's currently trending on from the main section. |
Hello Seun, Your platform is one of - if not the most visited platforms by Nigerians for news, updates, discussions, constructive criticisms etc - on Nigerian issues and global affairs. I have been a member for over 13 years now. I witnessed the civil old days where discussions were polite, educational and informative. I also witnessed the "great crash" when you lost some of the data and threads of old. But what we are witnessing now with the abusive, uncivilized and quite frankly misinformation that is pervasive now on this platform is abhorring. The latter would have caused any sane person to leave the platform but Nairaland is more than a platform to us, it is a virtual Nigerian community and its sections represent our diversity. I am suggesting you create a section or subsection (you may start with politics) where discussions and topics are civil and informative, where ideas are shared, sequence of discussions on threads are logical and constructive criticism thrives. These sections should be aggressively moderated with instant hiding of unruly comments and ban on their proponents. When I joined Nairaland more than a decade ago I was based abroad and the forum provided me with a medium to feel at home outside home. That is still the case many in diaspora and in fact foreigners still surf the forum, but unfortunately the experience they get does not represent the essence of our society. I believe it is possible with the team you have but ultimately it is your forum and the choice lies with you and you may choose to do with the forum what you will. |
It is well |
Baba leading from the front. Here are some suggestions baba 1. Instead of the conditional cash transfers. Get the FIRS to give you the tax filings of individuals, pick an income level you are willing to support (say those earning 100k and below these can be iterated from their tax filings). Support them with a bailout. This will be: a. Transparent b. Encourage voluntary tax filings especially from entrepreneurs c. Citizens will have a sense of fulfillment that government is giving back to them 2. Give a 3 month window for those that have not been paying tax (especially the informal sector) to pay their taxes and get in the database, to qualify for the bailouts. This will: a. Provide the government with an expanded tax base that will be crucial in any fiscal policy government will adopt to face the imminent recession to follow b. Voluntary tax filings I hope we have people with foresight in this government seeing beyond just 2023 |
The current government may have its flows. But Most people don't know (and sadly may never know) what decision making and leadership entails. |
The novel corona virus as the name implies is an evolved mutant of the original virus. Advance countries are still struggling to develop (not to talk of production) test kits. China, our best bet of importing the kits from is just gradually getting back up, and when it does it will be inundated with backlogs of orders from countries all over the world. Our current lab test method is the most thorough test available but not the most efficient. For a test at WHO recommended scale for about 200million people we need portable test kits |
(Unconfirmed) Sources tell me it was a truck conveying explosives to Edo for a quarry company. If that be the case thorough investigation needs to carry out on how these construction companies transport explosives across the country. |
Some one mentioned on another thread that it was a truck carrying explosives from Ibadan to Edo for a quarry company |
This is clearly an internal Republican propaganda meant for Americans. I am very sure most did not read it till the end to see this Imagine such a flawed write up gaining such global popularity. We are indeed in interesting times |
madridsta007:Forget, I was in kaduna a month ago the governor has transformed it to a gigantic construction site (roads). That's not to talk of the governance, administrative and financial reforms being implemented by the guy. Any body that takes over from him will already have a system in place (unlike many of our states) And yes from PROPOSED IGR of 27billion in 2015 the governor has grown to ACTUAL IGR of 44billion in 2019 (Notice the emphasis and deduce what you want - if this isn't transformational, then what is?) |
KADUNA UPDATE: Kaduna State Government adopts measures to respond to looming economic crisis - March 17, 2020 The Kaduna State Government has adopted stringent measures to manage the unexpected economic consequences unleashed by the coronavirus pandemic. Following the submission of an interim report by its economic crisis response committee, the state government will be implementing belt-tightening measures immediately to depress its recurrent costs and cope with the anticipated steep decline in revenues. The new measures are contained in a statement from Sir Kashim Ibrahim House released after the consideration of the interim report of the economic crisis response committee of the State Executive Council. “Malam Nasir El-Rufai has received an interim report from the economic crisis response committee established on 9th March 2020 by the Kaduna State Executive Council. The Committee consisted of selected members of the Executive Council, with Economic Development Council chairman Jimi Lawal, assisted by Infrastructure Development Council chair Muhammad Sani Abdullahi. The interim report was debated at a meeting chaired by the Governor and attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, and senior appointees of the state government. “The government considered the revenue implications attached to the various scenarios the committee examined. The meeting noted the falling price of crude oil amidst depressed demand for the commodity worldwide and the shocks to normal economic flows and supply chains by industrial shutdowns imposed as part of emergency public health measures. The meeting also noted the persisting global uncertainty as to how and when the coronavirus pandemic will be effectively contained. With some of the world’s largest economies on lock-down, there is significant uncertainty about what portends for Nigeria and Kaduna State over the short and medium term. “The report noted that should these unfavourable conditions persist, Nigeria may witness the worst economic crisis in its entire history. Therefore, it is a matter of urgency for a sub-national like Kaduna State to seriously consider and adopt measures to manage an extremely dangerous socio-economic situation. The state will also broadly engage with the federal monetary and fiscal authorities to suggest measures that will be required to reduce the impact of the economic shocks as they affect our state. “The meeting noted the risks to the state since revenues to a sub-national like Kaduna State consist basically of transfers from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and its own internally-generated revenue (IGR). With crude oil prices falling, FAAC will certainly shrink considerably in the near-term, business slowdowns and the severity of the resulting economic contraction may significantly limit IGR as well. “The scenarios reviewed indicated that Kaduna State’s gross annual revenues could fall by as much as N17bn if crude oil prices remain around $30 a barrel. Our annual revenues could fall by as much as N24bn in 2020 if crude prices fall to $20 per barrel. Either of the scenarios will imperil the discharge of obligations to personnel, pensioners and running of the government. Capital projects implementation will be severely curtailed if either of the two oil price scenarios persist without adopting fiscal and monetary policy realism by the federal government. “Therefore, it was decided that Kaduna State will prioritise its capital projects, especially in the health, education and infrastructure sectors, and uphold social safeguards like preserving the minimum monthly pension of N30,000. The state will also strive to remain afloat by aggressively cutting costs of governance and expanding revenue sources such as presumptive taxes on informal businesses, land use charges in major urban areas and imposition of development levy payable by every adult in the State, as contained in the State Tax Code. “In specific terms, Kaduna State has adopted the following coping measures, while it continues to closely monitor the unfolding situation: 1. Prioritise Funding of Capital Projects: amidst the looming downturn, investments in the fundamentals for growth and development will be robustly pursued; 2. Cut Personnel Costs and Depress Overheads: the government will cut overhead expenses by 50% and centralise expenses like purchase of equipment, vehicles, fuel and stationery. It will impose an immediate embargo on foreign travel; 3. Use of Debit Cards for Residual Overheads: KDSG will introduce debit cards as the sole mechanism for funding those overhead expenses of MDAs that have not been centralised. This will promote transparency and limit expenses; 4. Ensure and Enhance Payroll Integrity: measures will be taken to promote payroll integrity and ensure that the nominal roll of the public service is accurate. In the interim, the Head of Service will issue a circular that removes all cases of duplicate BVNs from the state payroll. Public servants who do not present evidence of their Retirement Savings Accounts (RSAs) will also be temporarily removed from the payroll; 5. Restrict New Employment: the government will continue its push to refresh and revitalise public service ranks by injecting new blood. While it will conclude its ongoing recruitment process, resumption of new recruits will be put on hold until the fiscal situation is clearer; 6. Expand Revenue Base: by getting more citizens to pay ground rent, presumptive tax and development levy; 7. Local government councils will be encouraged to adopt similar cost-cutting and revenue enhancement measures to preserve their ability to discharge critical obligations. “The Kaduna State Government will continue its effort to reduce dependence on revenues from FAAC. It will also continue to assess the financial situation of the state, and will not hesitate to impose further belt tightening measures, if necessary.” Signed Muyiwa Adekeye Special Adviser to the Governor (Media & Communication) 17th March 2020 https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/382495-kaduna-adopts-measures-to-respond-to-looming-economic-crisis.html

Nobody even asks about the role of our LGA's anymore. I know they have financial autonomy issues, but the aren't even showing any initiative in governance at all |
I am neither for or against Tinubu, but that's how it was said that Buhari will never rule Nigeria! Just saying.... |
seunmsg:The message is not meant for you - O insighful and educated one, it is meant for the thoughtless, lazy and credulous followers he commands |
Misplaced. Majority of the people using the airport most likely have their own ride and may opt not to use the service. Why not subsidize road transport for the indigenous instead |
