Yar'Adua will not even win Kastina state. But as usual, there is nothing( like election in Nigeria. OBJ has selected him and on the April (s)election. INEC will select him. Period!

If the war against curruption is the main issue, then Buhari and Yar'Adua are the only credible candidates of the major contenders. My fear with Buhari is his autocratic and extreme islamic leaning. That in my opinion makes him a much less attractive candidate.
Corruption is the main issue in Nigeria, so I will go for someone who I know can fight it better than OBJ and the person is Buhari.

As for Islam, am a christian and I don't know who is more extrem islamic between Yar'Adua and Buhari, but the only thing I know that Yar'Adua introduced Sharia in his state.

@grouppoint
Your points are seconded.

my concern is that the election will be rigged as usually and Yar'Adua will win & we continue with business as usual.

Obasanjo has done a great deal for Nigeria, some of his achievements being -

Rapid stock market growth
Pension reform
Telecoms
Bank consolidation
Solid Minerals sector reforms.
Increased confidence in the economy i.e. FDI

No doubt that a lot of sectoral reform is still needed, but we are on track. And credit goes to himand his team for even getting us this far.
If you can explain all these achievements to my grand dad in the village who can not enjoy electricity 2days in a week, who can not afford a bottle of kerosene to light up his lantern, not to talk of drinking good water. I will be happy

You marriage will be as good as your parent's own is you treat who would be husband the way your mother treats your father, which I doubt if you can do it considering what is happening in the society now.

If you do like your mum, you will get a husband like your dad.

PoliticsRe: Presidency Bribed Senators To Impeach Atiku by saintchux(m): 12:52pm On Jan 25, 2007
Most of the things that turn out to be true in this country started as rumour. The same 3rd term rumour came, and before you know it, it turns out to be true.

The bribery scandal for 3rd came, some bank were mentioned, some senator said that they were approached.

So I will not be surprised if this one is true too.

FYI: PDP chairman was at NASS yesterday to parly with them. Thisday newspaper said that he solicited their support to impeach Atiku. So it may possible that senators are been bribed.

I admire your optimism. But then, in the process of being oh so optimistic, you might run the risk of being unrealistic.

Being realistic, Id say Nigeria is a failed state. Sadly so. Sayin that does not give me any measure of joy whatsoever but it is what it is.

Sometimes, I'm like you, never giving up hope, seeing all the positives as opposed to the negatives and all that but when it comes down to it, can you honestly tell yourself that Nigeria as a state isnt a failed one?

Do not lie to yourself.
My sister, you are right, I love you. but I can't see myelf agreeing that we are a failed state. I still insist that our leaders failed not Nigeria. We have all it takes to move ahead, but those that suppose to drive the vehicle are taking us into the bush.

You think any right thinking person no matter where they are will support factions in political parties?

I suggest you go back and read the argument that has transpired between us and then think of who between us is supporting illegality.
The truth is that this is the general problem with all Atiku supporters . No one else knows what is legal in this country except them. Anything else that is not in there favour is illegal. Anything that will not see the emergence of Atiku as president is undemocratic.

I will say it again and again if Solomon Lar goes on with his formation of factional PDP I will be one of those who will sing his farewell song to jail.
Am niether Atiku fan nor OBJ worshipper. I am not in any political party. I don't even intend to join one. But one thing I know is that I will not support person who looks away at evil when it favours him and shout kill him when it is not to his favour.
@ McKren
Please give us reason why there should be no faction in PDP, but ANPP can have 20 factions.

My brother come to other part of Africa you will know that Nigeria is better of the only problem with we Nigerians is that we love compiring our country with America and Britain
It is only through comparision that you can say that things are not working. How can you know which one is good or bad if you don't compare. I can not compare myself with someone I think a bigger than, I will only compare myself with someone I feel I am equal with or aspiring to equal with. So Nigeria comparing themselves to US and Britian is not a misnomer.

olaak1:
"Rome was not built in a day" it took all these developed countries several centuries before they become what we see today Japan for example closed its border for two good centuries.
Rome was not built in a day was as a result of the technology then. I bet you that with technology now. Rome can be built in a minute. So let us stop using this adage to give excuse for not performing.

olaak1:
go to US for example, its citizen do not only think of what his country can do for him he also think of what he can do for his country. Do we have thesame notion in Nigeria?
How can I think of what I will do for Nigeria, when Nigeria has done nothing for me. No road, No electricity, No water, even the fuel that we produce, is no where to be found. I know that America provided all these for her citizen before they demand there citizen to do something in return.

Nigeria should do first before they expect us to do something.

Is it now a case of Atiku must be President or else invasion by the US? why should the vice president of a nation put his ambition over national security? What do you think?
US is not meddling into our internal affiars. They are showing concern like every other nation. Just like Nigeria is showing concern in Liberia, Niger, Sierre lone etc. If US talk on Nigeria election is meddling into Nigeria internal affiars, then Nigeria is gulty too for meddling inot the internal affiars of Liberia.

Can someone answer this question without sentiments or bias?

If INEC is unable to conclude the voters registration excercise and we still have Nigerians that are eligible to vote that are not yet registered, would it be better to shift the election to allow for more time to get eligible voters registered or do we just carryon with the election regardless of the problems with the current registration excercise just to make sure that a new government comes in come May 29 2007?

Can we focus on real susbstance in what we do in Nigeria and avoid being teleguided by the media or politicians?

Can't we discuss issues without suspicions, bad blood or hate?
If INEC is unable to finsh preparation for the election, the election can not hold, what are you going to use for the election. It is when INEC is prepared that they election can be held. There is no two ways about it. There is constitutional provision for conducting of election, and as it is going now, INEC will not meet up. So holding election or handing over by may 29 is not practicable. unless as usual OBJ will disobey the consitution, but as it favours him this time around I bet you he will not.

OBSERVATION:

You should know that opposition has been saying that OBJ will use INEC to prolong his stay in office and it is now staring all of us in the face. After all it is INEC that is not ready, not OBJ. OBJ will tell you that he is ready to leave office by may 29 but he will not do anything to undermine the constitution he swore to uphold, which mean that if the national assembly should pass law to extend his regime he will obey it.

OBJ and his group has been frustrating INEC from doing there job.
Remember that INEC cheque bounced which is a financial crime. I know that if it Adenuga that gave that cheque he should be in EFCC net by now.
INEC were underfunded.
Money were not release to INEC on time.

SUGGESTION

The election should be shifted not more than one year.
Interim natinal government [ING]should be formed
The government should be headed by a former Chief Justice of the Federation
The ING should organise a national conference before the election
CareerRe: How Healthy Is Office Romance? by saintchux(m): 9:57pm On Jan 16, 2007
Offie romance? Personally I don't see anything wrong with that. Romance is romance. whether in the office or out of office. The issue is doing the right thing and not the environment.

You can still loose your job is you are heart broken in a relationship outside the office. Is not only office romance that will make you loose your job.

Atittude is everything. It is your atittude in the relationship that will decide where it is heading to. Why the relationship in the first instance. If it due to lust, then as usual it will crash one day. And if you are having a relationship with your boss or a married man or woman. Can you call that office romance? It is not, because it is not leading you any where.

You're wrong @ Saintchux

It is known and very visible that OBJ's agenda is totally dedicated to OBJ, and 90% of his decision are made by Mr. president himself. It is never his style to consult with anyone (his cabinet) and exhaust all options before making his decision.

On the other hand, IBB has never made a decision without consulting with many and without analyzing all other options. His decisions may be wrong or brought negative impact to the nation, but these decision were never intentionally made or singly made by just him.
And believe it or not, this is one of the reasons why many still admire him till today.
I don't know whether OBJ consult anyone before he takes decision or just take decision in his bedroom with late stella. How IBB took his own decision I don't know. I have not been to Aso roak where they take decision, to see how they took decision, but the only thing I know is that IBB annouced your so called cancellation of june 12 election as the head. However the decision was reached, I don't know. Since he annouced it as the head, he should accept the blame as the head of the group that took the decision. so, let him take the blame go home as the head of the group and share the blame with all those that participated on the decsion to cancell the election period . If he is not comfortable with that then let him tell us who & who that told him to cancel it. Ok

Now divide that by 12 months, the answer is N21,144. That is the amount that is supposed to kit, train and provide salary and allowance for a policeman. Is it not ridiculous?’’

If that the budget of Nigeria police. Is it Nigeria people that did the budget or government. If you are nearer to OBJ and co. advice them to equip Nigeria police. Atleast they will do better with good allowance.
PoliticsRe: President Olusegun Obasanjos Score Card. How Has He Performed? by saintchux(m): 1:25am On Jan 15, 2007
When people say that OBJ performed woefully and I support them is that most of the things that I saw in 1999 is still what I see now, there is no change. I am living in Lagos. I don't know of other states.
1. Bad road
2. Low power supply
3. no water
4. unemployment
5. arresting and intimidating of opponents.
6. fuel prices sky rocketing everyday

They talk of micro and macro economy. fiscal policy. etc I don't know much about all those things. What I know is how much is peak milk, because i will drink tea in the morning. If the price is going up. then your fiscal policy or inflation rate at single digit is nonsence to me. How much will I spend to fuel my car in a week. how many days in a week did I run generator in my house. This is what I look at. $100 billion dollars in reserve make no sense to me. If I have to buy 2 cartons of eva water every weeks because no good water to drink. Then the government is not working.

Paying the paris club and london club debt and I don't see any differnece before the payment and after the payment is rubbish to me. We shall be made to see the impact of the payment not just theory.

Yes people talk alot about OBj's achieve. My concern is the achivement's impact on my life. As far as i am concern, the only thing that change is just names of president and that of the governors, then we know have legislature.

OBJ may not be at the airport to collect bribe. But what has he done to those that collect bribe that we see everyday. Police men collect N20 at check point and everyone see it. How many police commisioner has he sacked, how many police officer has he sacked because of N20 brible. I am the one that should sack them?

Should I tell you about Oyo state & Adedibu or Anambra state & Chris Uba. What of Plateau state. is my duty to arrest those breaking the law abi But he was so fast to declare Atiku seat vacant.

MAMAJAMA:
the failure in Nigeria is attributed to the community in general, though our leaders take a major part in the downfall but we all have our share of blames.
I said that OBJ is our no 1 problem, and I still maintain it. even you concurred by saying that our leader take a major part, Who is our leader?

Please I am not part of the problem. I am law abiding citizen doing what I am supposed to do.I pay my tax.

Also, it seems to me that all these government officials remain invisible while IBB on the other hand continues to get the bashing and thwacking severely alone just about every day in and outside Nigeria.
It is true that the decision was made by federal military government then, headed by IBB just like we want to kill OBJ now for any wrong policy mage by federal government. so IBB should take the blame and accept it in good faith

Let us not go into the english meaning of the word. let us talk as Christian or moslems. What your Bible or koran said about it.

Just as marriages and been redefined to include same sex marriage, does not make a marriages of homo sexual good and honourable.

Bible said we should flee from any apearances of evil. APPEARANCES
Remember that in the law of moses someone must bear witness against you to be accuses of adultery, but after christ, just look at someone lustful. you are guilty of adultery. Also in the law you will kill your brother to be accused of murder, but in grace, hate your brother, you are guilty of murder.
