In recognition of his meritorious service to the Nation, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin has been awarded the Prestigious Defence Alumnus Star Award at the National Defence College (NDC) Abuja.

While presenting the award to the CDS during the graduation ceremony of course 24 the Special Guest of Honour, President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, commended the CDS for the achievement the Armed Forces recorded in the recent time. He used the occasion to task the Armed Forces to deal decisively with any criminal elements working against the peace of our dear nation.

Mr. Aniete, a landlord in Atan, Oodukpani LGA of Akwa Ibom poured boiling water on the boy identified as Daniel Edet Inyang, severely injuring him. The incident is said to have happened on July 14th. According to reports, Mr Aniete, a Tailor had accused the boy of stealing a phone.

President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate to confirm nominees into positions of Chairman, Executive Commissioner, and Non Executive Commissioners of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

In a letter dated August 2,2016, sent to President of the Senate, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye (South West) was nominated as Chairman, while Mr Sunday Dare (South West) got the nod as Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management.

Those nominated as Non Executive Commissioners are: Aliyu Sa'idu Abubakar (North East), Clement Omeiza Baiye (North Central), Chief Okoi Ofem Obono Obla (South South), Pastor Ezekiel Yissa (North Central) and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (South East).

The nominations are in accordance with section 8(1) of the Nigerian Communications Commission Act 2003

Update: Police open fire on protesting Nasarawa workers, kill 1

Police in Nasarawa State on Friday shot four workers as the Nigeria Labour Congress began talks with the state government over the protracted labour crisis rocking the state.
NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, told journalists at the police clinic in Lafia that the workers were shot by a policeman at the gate of the Government House where they had gone to wait for the outcome of the NLC meeting with Gov. Umaru Al-Makura.
Workers in the state had embarked on an indefinite strike following the decision of the state government to slash their salary by 50 per cent.
According to Mr. Wabba, one of the workers died, while three others, including a woman, were being treated for gunshot wounds at the clinic.
He said the dead victim was a staff of the state Ministry of Education, while the three others who sustained gunshot wounds included a staff of Doma Local Government Council, the Judicial Service Commission and a journalist with the defunct Nigerian Newsday, a state-owned media outfit.
“The workers were unarmed and peacefully protesting for their rights only to be shot at by policemen stationed at the government house gate.
“We do not know what prompted them to shoot at unarmed workers who were waiting for us to finish discussion with the state government over the issue of their emoluments.
“They were attacked with maximum force. You can see one dead, two critically injured. They were very peaceful, unfortunately the police, under whatever pretense opened fire. It is most unfortunate,” he said.
Mr. Wabba said when the NLC officials got wind of the incident and approached the Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Bello, he said there was no casualty.
The NLC boss called on the police authority to fish out those responsible for the shooting or face a nationwide protest by the congress.
“The rules of engagement in such a situation must be adhered to as everybody around the world has a right to protest. These workers have a right under the law,” he said.
Mr. Wabba appealed to workers to remain calm and law abiding as the national leadership would take up the issue and will inform them on the next line of action.
Reacting over the alleged shooting, the Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Bello, said he was yet to be briefed as he was attending the meeting between NLC and the state government.
He said the command would investigate to ascertain what really transpired.

Her husband who is a lawyer beat her to a stupor and used pliers to cut off her ear. They live in Abuja

Though she is separated from the man now. But she want a divorce and most lawyers are backing off cos of threat from the man. The said man beat her up after going through Caesarian section to deliver their baby and she was rushed back to hospital. He is a Uniben lawyer.

Later some people will be quoting bible for a woman who wants run for her dear life....is this not too much of an evil towards a woman you call wife? Mother of your kids?

This is such a sad thing for me to report this afternoon. Just two days after we were all happy that Nigerians kindly donated to cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed, for surgery she needed for ovarian cancer, LIB just learnt that Mayowa and her family scammed kind hearted Nigerians.

You see, Mayowa is really sick. She truly has Ovarian cancer. She's admitted at LUTH but she didn't need money for surgery, because doctors had told Mayowa she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat her as she was extremely far gone. The doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she would die soon and had advised them to take her home. Her family knew this, but they still used her situation to raise money from Nigerians. The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.

Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded the fundraising, as you read this, is at LUTH right now with police officers. Some people also went to the family's home and the place is locked up. Will share video from the fight at LUTH, involving Toyin and one other donor later...
