Eyah! RIP. Is he from Uniben? So he was on his way to vote for the continuation of this strike without any pity for the students who have been crying to see the end of the impasse? Rest in Peace sir! May your soul find eternal rest with the Lord. By the way sir, the strike will be called off. Once again, rest in peace. |
How comes the SOURCE is a blog and are there only 21 universities making up ASUU? I'll take this new with 2 bags of salt. |
I want to rep the school at the seat of power- Uniabuja. If I'm too late, then I'd like to rep Nairaland University. Hope that will be ok? |
lindyeque: I just checked my mail now...and I saw the mail was cc to me....I.e ( to: abimbola oshikoya. cc: my name )....so does it mean d case has been settled ?.. wat else do I need to do as from dis point.? pls let me know...Tanx for d previous response. If it was cc to you, then Oshikoya got the mail, hopefully, she'll put more seriousness in it since it is coming from her colleague. I don't think you need to do anything else, however, when my mail was cc to me, I told Oshikoya that I was told she is now incharge of deep waters scholars (that was my first mail to her), she never replied it, 3 weeks later, she sent me a message asking for my 2010/11 results. So I guess you can just remind her you were apprised she is the one you should talk to hence. |
Go and write Jamb again bro! Its a dead end after graduation. |
Please can I ask for a remark? I still dunno how my first presentation was marked. |
Was the mail cc to you or to somebody else, if you see a cc, I guess she has forwarded the mail to another quarter for you because that was how she responded to mine. I hope it helps though, if the reference mail is not that of Oshikoya, I guess you can also contact the mail too. I have been sending message to these folks in total and to the best of my knowledge, all of them respond to it, Oshikoya ofcourse being the only exception. |
When the sermon is boring I presume. Last week, I was getting drowsy in church but soon woke up with my eyes glistening at what is happening right infront of me. 2 deacons and 3 pastors were napping too. ![]() |
I'm sorry! I had to write backups to this since I started before the second round commenced and my post may have been viewed. homesteady: Good evening our humble and unbiased judges, viewers and my co-debators. I'm Homesteady and I'll hereby argue in support of 'Religon mars relationships'.I would like to start from your conclusion where you opined that you will dissuade people from going into a relationship UNLESS they both share the same faith. Well, thank you because you jsut affirmed one half of our argument and you have successfully joined the make groups of debaters. I will like to on behalf of my colleagues welcome you to the winning bench. Funny how in your long write up, there wasn't even a single mention of how "absence of religion" has made relationship work. Well, since we are team mates now thanks to your earlier post, I will help you. You didn't mentioned it because IT, in most cases is never a good option. Also, you said that Churches don't advice for people to wed outside, in Nigeria, they do wed non church members, if the topic is "Churches make or mar relationship", you would have made an excellent point. But no, the topic is religion and I see many many people getting married outside their church everyday and the marriages work out just well unlike the faith-less modern marriages in the West. Also, you said Islam allows male to wed outside their religion, thank you for that point sir, they do allow men to wed outside irrespective of the spouse's religion? Boy! You should be the captain of our team as you are making excellent "MAKE" arguments. May I add to this your wonderful point that such inter faith marriage is relatively stable than your quintessential hollywood anti faith professed marriage. The reason most religion advice against marrying outside is because of the difference in understanding that may ensue, however, correct courtship between spouses have made this concern relatively defunct and more and more inter faith marriage are been registered yearly. Also, Dele and Alampaso need not be forced to do anything, they will still end up being raised in either the father's religion or the mother's religion, and if you ask me, this is a great PLUS for religion because many anti religion marriage never get to this stage before life is sucked out of the marriage by divorce lawyers... Religion entails a believe system, principles and norms and they differ between people who profess same in the same faith, common values are shared between people of different or the same faith and this in the long run leads to longevity in the said relationship. To me, difference in religion is just like any other difference the would be couples may have. For instance, one of the pair like pepper in the soup, the other does not, one like sleeping with the light off, the other does not. Difference in marriage works 100% if the couples in it truly respect and love each other. That Nigeria is a religious country and it has a lower divorce rate when compared to the liberal west is a testament to this. I have been in an eight year long relationship with a Muslim girl and there has never been a dull moment. With the aforementioned potent points, I believe the judges and indeed all ardent followers of the thread would be convince on the "MAKE" factor religion has in successful marriage. Thanks Ogugua for your understanding thus far....appreciated. |
Ok! You can hide it now. |
ogugua88: Sakaguchi, I'll unhide your comment once all the scores are posted.Ahh! I'm still editing it oo! Can I still edit it even when it is hidden? Oblige me, I use a nokia phone... ![]() |
Thanks |
Good evening the Moderator(s), the impartial panel of carefully selected judges, ladies and gentlemen following the thread and my co debaters. The topic is "does religion make mar relationships" and I wish to vehemently posit that the former is the case in most, if not all relationships. Its funny how this is even debatable, one need not look further to see how blindingly obvious its merit are. Religion as affirmed by Macmillan English dictionary is the belief in the existence of God/gods. The same source also put through in one of its many definition that relationship is a sexual or romantic camaraderie between people, especially one that last for a long time. Having taken this two definition into cognizance, we need not use a telescope to know that Nigeria (even with its internecine poverty) have fewer divorce rate compared to their western or Japanese counterpart who see the importance of God/gods as a medieval zeitgeist. This is possible, very possible because their relationship wasn't founded in any belief system, rather, it is based on 21st century hollywood aided liberal fallacy. To have a relationship and to sustain it, needs a belief system and a sense of shared values between the partners, this is copiously provided by religion, be it Shintoism, Budhism, Islam or Christianity. Don't be deceived, the naysayers at the other bench would want to say that difference in religion has being an impediment to would be relationship, that is a cheap argument that doesn't deserve a second glance because people are scantily attracted romantically to people of other faiths and when they do, love conquers it all, and don't forget that "GOD is LOVE". Before I see one "true" relationship fail because of religion, I would have seen 40 others fail because of its absence. Thank you. |
Sorry I'm late, Mod, I didn't get to see my PM oo! I hope there's nothing I ought to do that I have not? **Walks shyly to the back seat** |
Let me give you all a tip, if you are 2010/11 scholar and Oshikoya aint replying your mail, kindly send one to Enuma, tell her nice things and send all your results to her in one message, she will tell you she no longer handles deep water-east, she may then forward your complete mail to Oshikoya, coming from her colleague, she may take hid more. Also, do not forget to ask in your mail if it is too late because I remembered I saw a message on their site April this year where they said if they post money to your account and find out your account is dormant, you have forfeited that money for that year. This might be the case with yall, they sent out a notice that we should make sure we use NUBAN account number and that our account isn't dormant. Read my earlier post on how I got mine, Oshikoya did not reply to any of my mails but she sent me a mail asking for some info from me which I quickly did. |
I'll go for MAR, but if the only slot left is for MAKE, kindly slot me in, I wanna participate... |
