Nukilia: Just privatize the schools make we rest! Nah. They wont be affordable for most students. What should happen is the the FG should make the geopolitical zones responsible for most of the funding of these schools. The zones can form a regional body of schools. In NY State, for instance, you have SUNY schools. The academic bodies can determine the tuition for these schools and have incentives, such as lower tuition rates for residents of the zone the school is in, scholarships, and so on. I think this would go a long way in solving the problem of recurring strikes |

Politics › Re: Jonathan, Jega, Nwodo Express Divergent Views On Restructuring Nigeria by samdunzo: 7:55pm On Jan 22, 2021 |
CoolAmbience: These are just theories. They hold no real significance in how things truly work.
You really just talk about things without facts. How can you say that Kano and Kaduna do not contribute to VAT?
What has the dwindling oil fortune got to do with restructuring? Do states not have a responsibility for IGR generation already?
I do not see how the police not answering to the Governor affects anything at all. Ask how well the Governors have faired / are fairing with the funds and powers currently at their disposal. Aren't they the real reason the country is moving at a snail speed? Tell me, if we have 36 + 1 hyper working units, who would really care about any center? How well are the states applying the resources that they receive and generate?
There are rail links to the SS and SE, so I do not understand what you mean by 'begging' the FG for rail link up.
Why should any sane Nigerian be scared of the man at the center? It makes no sense.
There is nothing wrong with the states requiring approval to execute power, airport and / or seaport projects. These aren't Nigeria's real problems. Are these why we have unending corruption? Is it why the public school systems are failing? What about healthcare and sanitation?
Is it why politicians are acquiring stupendous wealth and properties across the country and abroad, to the detriment of the masses? What has restructuring got to do with dishonesty in leadership? The problem is that the man at the center doesn't allow governors to do anything meaningful. All regional development is sacrificed on the table of "nationalism". For instance, the states in the Niger Delta should be able to utilize their natural gas and oil to provide 24 hour electricity. But, they can't because mining is in the "exclusive" list. On the topic of SARS, in a restructured NGA, governors would be able to curtail the excesses of officers, since they would be in control of them. But, due to the overcentralised police force, they were not. This is what folks are talking about when we say "restructure" |

privaldo: We know that can't work, every tribe/region hopes to be a sovereign state. This would have worked in the 60s, it just can't work now. So what do you suggest? |
Politics › Re: Alaafin Writes Buhari, Says 'Tackle Insecurity Now Before It’s Too Late' by samdunzo: 7:34pm On Jan 22, 2021 |
privaldo: They won't agree to restructure because it will ultimately lead to secession. Once the restructured regions performing well without other regions, and the central government, they will want more (full autonomy/sovereignty) to achieve their full potentials. If that's a fear, have all nationalities agree to a no succession clause. We cant continue to ignore this topic |

We should just keep calm, and watch how it plays out, the coming days will tell if we would cease to exist as a nation or not. Restructuring is the key |

privaldo: I don't really know how true the data about the population of tribes in Nigeria are but I can say that whatever crisis that erupts in Nigeria be it a war or a revolution, it would destabilize West Africa, the already unstable Sahel, and other parts of the world because there will be a refugee crisis. Exactly why I don't want it to get to that point. Unfortunately, it seems like these Fulani guys in government positions are complicit in all of this. Because if not, this would have been handled all the way back in 2018/9 |
Politics › Re: Alaafin Writes Buhari, Says 'Tackle Insecurity Now Before It’s Too Late' by samdunzo: 5:58pm On Jan 22, 2021 |
privaldo: The Fulanis don't occupy only the top position in the military, they also have their kin in large amounts in the military. The case of CAR was more of a religious situation, than one of ethnicity or tribe. Also, the situation of most of the large military hardware in their region will give an upper hand in the event of any war. What happened during the #EndSars more of anarchy/mini revolution and not a conventional war. In the event of a conventional war, no region/tribe in Nigeria can face the Fulanis, this people have planned for this a long time ago. How many are Fulani in Nigeria. Even if you say that they have brothers in Africa, they are no more than 25 million. Yoruba in Nigeria alone is 40 million, and don't forget there are Yorubas in Benin, Togo, and descendants of Yoruba all over the world with strong ties to the culture. And then you add other groups in Nigeria, do you really think Fulani alone can withstand all of them? I pray it doesn't get to that point though, because it would destabilize all of West Africa |

Fixey: Many advanced Japanese rails transmutes around 2 Million a day and are way more advanced than that. We're using range of trains that is ten times below the standard in modern rails and we're quick to attribute figures for trains that are not bullet trains or super sonic speed trains. It's pure lies. Nigerians don't make such research so they don't know. This one didn't get past me cause I study these innovations regularly to know it's a lie just seeing that part. I think you're referring to commuter rail... the Lagos rail project is a intercity rail system. Like the NYC Subway |

The South South See's resource Control has ture federalism The South West See's resource control, state police, and reducing the federal government power has ture federalism The South East want the return the Eastern (adding SS) has ture federalism So different meaning True. However, what we know is that all southerners agree that the federation is faulty. Its up to our brothers up North to see the light |

tutudesz: Anything is possible in politics, but can both of them work toward true federalism We have to look at it from an historic lens. Historically, Yorubas have wanted federalism, Igbos want Biafra, while Hausa/Fulani wants the status quo to remain. Maybe an North and East collab will see devolution of powers, but I don't see true federalism happening under that administration. Especially if the president is a Northerner |

Tekrify: The fair truth is that more than 70 percent of African countries were made with the same process..you can't say their end will come sooner.... The issue with Nigeria is the structure in which it was formed...for true healing to start that structure needs to change.. Nigeria isn't the problem..it structure that governs it is the problem that why ever region including the main benefactor agrees that there is a big need for restructuring Thank you. We weren't the only country colonised and forcefully bought together by Britain. The US, India, Ghana are examples. The problem lies in the 1999 constitution, which gives too much power to the central govt. |
