mangolpupa:You can check out their office if your based in Lagos. There contact details below: TBB Nigeria Service Center No. 12B, Alade Close, Off Balogun bus stop, Ikeja nigeria@tbbrenewable.com .08060.432610. |
mangolpupa:Different brands like Deye, Growatt, SRNE, TBB Power, Huawei etc use different internal components and charging algorithms for their MPPT. Infact, some brands like the Voltronic/Axpert range of inverters have a known float bug that affects the charging algorithm of their mppt. Some of these issues are fixed by firmware updates but for the most part yes there can be a difference. If your moving from a previous budget tier to a Growatt, ofcourse there is a noticeable difference, however, there are several other premium brands out there too that give the Growatt a run for their money. |
jonescosmos:Somebody asked a simple question, whether there was a data sheet tracking all solar installations in Nigeria and estimated the numbers to be mind boggling. I replied with two resources he can easily check online. I also gave two amongst many reasons why the number of Nigerians on those websites are low, including consistency of ensuring systems are online which speaks to No. 1 and being able to post the data online needing constant connectivity. So, i am wondering where the fight is starting that your opening statement that you decided is " You are wrong" to begin a conversation. |
swagifted:Victron has one called Victron World https://vrm.victronenergy.com/world/ and the other is PvOutput https://pvoutput.org/ Unfortunately, the number of Nigerians listed is a bit low as not everybody is consistent in ensuring their system is connected and online sharing the data. However, its an interesting read. |
Polaris1:Why nau ? |
odimbannamdi:Wishing @Valto a speedy recovery and good health. Guy has been making huge impacts in the LifeP04 DIY pack game for a while now. |
Juror:I think my reaction is not out of hand seeing the "excuses" that are already beginning to be formed. My take is that once you agree to accept somebody's money to offer a service even if it is N1, then you are obligated to deliver on that service. I can already infer where you are heading with statements like "You don't even know how much, how much was earned, its a 12v installation". You decided to accept somebody's money, why shame them on top for not delivering a quality service. Can't we demand for excellent service in Nigeria for our hard earned money again. Arrrrrg. Nigeria. I apologize if it seems like i am overreacting but seriously cases like these do not augur well for us as a nation and that is why the solar industry is full of issues. All i am saying is that let's manage our clients well and offer better support. People are more when you make efforts and show care towards resolving their issues rather than this attitude of your on your own. |
JoeSef0:You see this statement. This is what gets me angry. This is why a lot of Nigerians have such a high distrust for anything inverter/solar and Kazeem installers adding to it with poor service. After quoting and charging a client for labor and materials. You install a product that suddenly develops a fault NOT due to any user error, and yet are unwilling to go the extra mile to support the client. Most installers have this attitude of once i install anything for a client and i collect my money they can go to hell. Not knowing that an installation is an entry point to continuous patronage and good will that can last for years and bring even bigger rewards down the line. As an installer, you should ensure that materials you buy are original and comes with guarantee/warranty from the suppliers for their products. No client wants to hear that they are on their own when it comes repairs and warranty claims. As e dey pain you now to remove money to resolve this issue, so did it pain the client to cough out his hard earned money to pay you for a quality service. In business some days you win some days you lose. But always try to treat your customers better and try to resolve their issues. |
sharks776:You can also try the SRNE Charge Controller. https://www.srnesolar.com/productdetail/PWM-Solar-Charge-Controller-HC.html Contact Mr Ugo (HM Solar) 0.8.0.3.449.0636 Price last year was N42,000 (but please call to confirm current price)

temizeee:You are a wicked somebori ![]() |
sharks776:1. That's great. Which means by calendar age they are not that old. 2. For the Mantrac battery (which i am partial too), you can get the number of cycles from the front screen menu. It will be listed there in the options menu just like the Seplos batteries. For the Huawei, i am not too sure but if there is an app or bluetooth connection you can use, you should be able to pull this information from the BMS. Ask the seller about communication with the built in BMS. 3. Okay. So, they were kept in a cool and well ventilated environment, however, their discharge cycles might be a bit high but this negated by the calendar age and most telecom sites follow basic safety precautions in their installations so this shouldn't a major concern. 4. This is where you need to do your research and compare how much brand new 48v 100ah & 150ah batteries are selling in the market right now compared to the asking price for these used ones which still have a lot of life left in them. Also, calculate how much you need to spend for the same capacity in lead acid batteries without all the benefits that you get from LifeP04 and then finally look at your budget. This is individual to everybody but as you can see from the comments of people asking for the contacts of the seller, many consider it to be a good deal. |
sharks776:Both Hauwei and Mantrac are reputable brands. However, because they are used, there might be some argument as to how much life is left in them. However, being LIFEP04 batteries, they will still have a some juice left in them and will serve you better than some brand new chinko lead acid batteries in the market. Some questions you can ask the sellers: 1. How many years old are the batteries ? 2. What is the number of cycles that the batteries have been discharged ? 3. What were the batteries used for ? If you can get some satisfactory answers to these and the price point is right, i see no reason why you cannot go ahead and purchase. Bear in mind though, that being a used product, you should have some lower expectations in terms of performance. Certain LifeP04 brands like SRNE advertise an 80% remaining capacity after over 6000 cycles of charging and discharging their 5.12kwh batteries (51.2v 100ah). You can research more on the model number of these batteries and see their spec sheets. But all in all as long as they are in good condition, i will take them over a lead acid battery any day. |
kristien4:Gennex Tech is an authorized and dealer and reputable seller of Jinko, Canadian Solar panels and Trojan Batteries. We have listed them here before on this forum as a genuine source of solar products with warranties. However, as a earlier stated, certain premium brands command a higher price point compared to the alaba chinko products that many often resort to. If the product is within your budget, please feel free to go ahead. |
FEGEITOK:Why go through that long process when you can get from dealers in Abuja ? JA Solar, Jinko and Longi all have reps in Abuja that can supply you here. If your in the DIY Telegram group, send me a DM. |
swagifted:Why not buy from their authorized dealer in Nigeria HM Solar ? His contact details have been shared here in this forum. The product is of good quality and comes with warranty from the dealer. |
Bgee77:Short answer, NO !!! |
abbeymighty:. It depends on what your system voltage is and type of charge controller you are using. But best practice you connect them 2S2P. You connect 2 in series and 2 in parallel. This gives a good balance between the open circuit voltage and short circuit current. |
GuestJoe:Thank you for the kind words. Just helping out in promoting the Solar FTA gospel. Have sent a message to your profile. |
TechGeek777:Okay. Another recommendation will be the Onyxline of inverters. Checkout the Grovolt Amuma Hybrid Pure Sine Wave Inverters https://onyxline.com.ng/product/grovolt-amuma-hybrid-pure-sine-wave-inverters/ It has 95% efficiency with 90A charging capacity with a built in transformer. Don't know the low idle power consumption and price currently. Lastly, you can also the Must Energy Power EP3000 PLUS Series (4-6KW) https://www.mustpower.com/product/ep3000-plus-series-4-6kw/ This also another low frequency inverter with inverter efficiency of 95% and power factor of 1. 35A charging current with idle consumption of 100W(+-20). Wishing you good luck. |
TechGeek777:Okay. Another one to look at also is the XtraPower LF Series Hybrid Inverter XTLFH1-6KW https://www.xtrapowerng.com/xtrapower-hf-series-hybrid-inverter/ However, it has a lower power efficiency rating 85% and no data on idle consumption. But it has local support and warranty. |
TechGeek777:Checkout the TBB Power Nigeria RIIO 5kva Inverter Charger. I think it ticks off everything on your list except maybe the price which you will need to confirm from them. ![]() http://nigeria.tbbpower.com/products/RiiO-Series-Inverter-Charger |
TechGeek777:Don't waste your breath. It's this internet anonymity/distance and feeling of impunity on issues that gives people the right to act and behave anyhow to their customers rather than engaging them to find an amicable solution. And as you have said, the internet never forgets and a cursory google search of your username will bring up such conversations. For someone working in the sales & service industry, its not when things go right that your all loving and respectful to the customer but the true test is when things go bad. Broken items during shipping, manufacturer defect/warranty issues, sub-optimal performance of item etc. While of course nobody can hold you responsible for customer behavior and inappropriate use of the equipment, always try to find a solution for your customers and they will be singing your gospel everywhere. This default confrontational attitude that we see in a lot of cases reported here tells you all that you need to know. These guys are only interested in collecting your money and your On Your Own if anything else happens. |
TechGeek777:It's why i never hid my dislike for resellers that rely on poor customers knowledge to exploit them out of their hard earned money by providing subpar goods and services. I am all for sharing information to break this vicious cycle so that customers can make informed opinions before parting with their money. And we if your earning legitimate money in this country, its doubly painful when you remember the blood, sweat, pain and tears it took you to earn them. Having said that and taking no sides on the current issue ongoing, i hope this serves as a general reminder to people in this forum patronizing online resellers on the potential issues that can arise. There are several reputable dealers/distributors/resellers with shops, verified addresses and online presence that one can safely purchase from with peace of mind and guarantee/warranty. As soon as your money leaves your account, your left at the mercy of these online sellers and these are examples of such issues. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. The fact that people have to resort to screenshots of whats app chats and voice notes to gather incriminating evidence is too much jare. On top my money o. For the people that continue to patronize these people here, personally, you will get less sympathy from me. For the online resellers that continue to keep on spamming the thread day in day out with their products and treat their customers anyhow when money has entered their account, your time will also come. |
zeestone99:There was some wisdom in the plenty english nah. No inverter subjected to temperature can do PF 1. Just because the chinese no name brands don't put in their inverters doesn't mean that they don't derate. As the temperature rises in the inverters operating environment and under load, it will derate its output. There is always a loss in the energy conversion of DC to AC. The law of physics is universal. It happens to all inverters. But Victron is being more open by telling you exactly how and at what temperatures it is able to output its capacity. The issue i guess was you making Victron to look like the only inverter that derates its ouput instead of aspiring it as a normal convention that applies to all inverters and not just victron. |
ojesymsym:I have been reporting and posting this on the thread & DIY Solar Telegram group for a while now. I attended the conference flying in from Abuja for three 3 days. The conference this year was even more massive and had a lot of Vendors in attendance from Fronius, Victron, SMA, Anern, Felicity, TBB Power, Xtra Power, SRNE, etc. I will post some pictures from the event soon. The conference has had maximum exposure as the current minister of power Mr Adelabu was at the event. I have also been seeing their sponsored posts on linkedin, youtube and online. |
brightk:Your customer is on a tight budget and he is going for Full River AGM Batteries from Idyllic ? Full River are the Grade A of Premium Lead Acid AGM batteries and cost quite a penny on par with LifeP04 cells. The point Valto raised is instead of spending that amount for a number of batteries that you can max discharge 50%, why not buy LifeP04 that has more usable capacity to use. My last quote in 2020 for their 12v DC-260ah battery was N205,000 each. Only God knows how much they go for now. |
complexstuffs:Ok. |
complexstuffs:Bros, use the search button and search through the pages of thread. These questions have been asked several times and answered before. |
brightk:Solid Brand. I use them & Yingli for budget installs. However, do purchase original only from recognized dealers that keep stock. |
brightk:I dey his camp for this area specifically latency. What's the essence of the speed if the latency is so high ? Na the thing wey kill satellite internet be that before the coming of Starlink. The main selling point of Starlink is the shorter latency being closer to the earth thereby giving higher speeds. For people who do a lot of online gaming, VOIP, Zoom Meetings etc latency is crucial. Once speed passes one level, it doesn't really matter. 5G, 1Gigabit Links etc. Netflix recommends min 25Mbps to watch 4k content. Na quality over quantity that's the main thing he's pointing out. And for FTTH, that ultra milisecond of latency ensures that your traffic travels quickly and any application or inputs send over is translated quickly in realtime. |
gadgetplanetng:Baba, go back through the pages of the thread and see the list of LifeP04 vendors on Ali Baba. Contact them and negotiate a price. Some can ship directly to Lagos DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) and you pick at the shippers warehouse or they ship to a freight forwarder of your choice who will handle shipping on your behalf. You use your dollar card to pay using Ali Pay and that's it. The alternative you contact any of the lithium sellers here and buy from them with their additional cut on top. Choices dey. |
FEGEITOK:Layer3 and their service has been good so far. They use Ubiquiti for their network devices which nicely integrates with my UDM PRO and other devices.
