Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by sammu(m): 2:35pm On May 20, 2009
@george d, am very sure. i have practically tracked all satellites receivable on 90cm dish, Is7/10, W4, W3, W6, sirius 4 etc so i can tell the position of a dish when i see one. i think this one is new, i suspect atlantic bird 3@5*west, but am not sure. i will work on it by weekend and report back

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by sammu(m): 11:39am On May 20, 2009
all, i just discovered this: TELSTAR11N @37.6 west has started transmission. RR Sat has started promo on the sat on ku band with frequency 11477 H 20,000. the beam is africa and it covers nigeria well.
Let check it out.

osef, could you supply the frequency on which you got the sabc1,2,3 e t c on sirius. If it is on globecast platform then the keys may be different from what we used to know.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free-to- Air Satellite TV [part 3] by sammu(m): 9:47am On Apr 16, 2009
fopros, good to read from you. Were you able to fix your fried decoder or you bought a new one.
as for W3A, the bird is very trickish just as said. But since you can track Sirius 4, you should get W3A as well. Follow George_D's advice. In addition you can also try with the following frequencies

1. free2view 12728 v 30,000 (you can also try H polarity)

2. malagasy 10976 v 3333

3. ariane 11063 v 1150

@ gracioume, some transponders on 7/10 have been behaving funny lately and if your dish is 60 or 90cm, then you need a very good lnb. My strong lnb signal breaks but Pauxis lnb gives me better signal. You may have to look at your lnb. Equally important is your lnb skew. Cheers

@fopros
sorry about your decoder. If there was no power cut when upgrading then it is very likely your receiver is fake strong. As said above you can get the cable and a working 4653x and do firmware transfer or if there is mytv office around you, they might be of help. Here in nigeria i encourage people to buy directly from mytv dealers shop

@ olofofo, my gmail account is samajayi5@gmail.com. Thanks

@Captainus
thanks for pointing that out. The movement of these stations from one sat to another is quite funny. The signal of sirius4 is far stronger than w3a and can be gotten on 60cm dish with ease. I wonder why stations will move from high signal to low signal bird

@Captainus
etv feeds and globecast are on sirius4 and not w3a. Perhaps you receive them on your position for w3a because of big dish.
@idyday
sometime it is easier to do your tracking using w4(dstv) as a reference. 1. Track dstv on 12169H 27500 and note the position. 2. Then input your 7/10 frequency and track a bit left or right of dstv position. Also note that the angle of elevation of 7/10 is lower than w4. 7/10 appears to face downwards. Good luck.

Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by sammu(m): 6:25am On Feb 22, 2009
@All, i tracked w6 in lagos yesterday morning freq 11653 has 56% signal strength and was stable thru out the day. But what surprised me was that RDV that just moved there has 94% signal strength. By lyngsatmap lagos and its environs are supposed to be fringe reception areas. As it has been said on the forum before lyngsat maps may not be accurate afterall. I think one should freq of any beam that stray into Naija

@ecowas4all
Thanks very much. Are suggesting that it is possible to motorize ku dishes the same way big dishes are using a jack?
Your response is appreciated
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by sammu(m): 8:51pm On Feb 20, 2009
@all
sometime ago, there was this talk about 90cm dish motor on the forum, with the increasing number of satellites available on ku dishes and some members not been able to upgrade to bigger dishes due to several constraints, motorizing ku dishes wont be a bad idea. Gurus in the house Pls HELP on how to source and install motor on ku dishes too.
