christistruth01: You hit the nail on the head, his mother is undoubtedly from Osun state, he identifies with the people. Tinubu's story is similar. However ingratitude is something true Yoruba people abhor, so Aregbe should stop pretending to be more catholic than the pope. 2 Likes |

hammer0: Zik ensured the removal of the secession clause proposed by Awolowo as insurance. Read history properly before you argue blindly, or should I pull out another interview for you confirming it? Modify: Actually Zik does it again in the same interview: https://www.nairaland.com/3880002/role-civil-way-zik Again, , however, when the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual. That was when we began to use that expression - ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ - and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

hammer0: It is not the Yorubas fault that you were not taught or refused to learn history when you were in school In 1953, Saradunna and majority of the north wanted to leave Nigeria. Awolowo was fine with this as he felt a shared destiny with the North would hold Southern Nigeria back and gave silent approval. The great Zik of Africa was the one that insisted they should not leave and Nigeria must remain a federation. He then went on to sway Awo and make promises to the North... and the rest is history. Even if you don't believe me here is an interview from your kinsman Zik confirming it. https://www.nairaland.com/3881467/nnamdi-azikiwe-prevented-north-seceding So please, tell me who the problem of Nigeria is? Maybe its the people who irrationally always think they are superior and they can use the perceived weaknesses of their neighbours against them for their gain. 4 Likes |

Area4Area: When we try and be our brother's keeper and tell them of their weaknesses, they laugh at us and call it jealousy. Nigerians have been collecting top post in Liberia since time in memorial with no issues.... But when its their turn see what happens. Now just to buttress this, see a similar thread on this forum years back, for two "Nigerians" (one Northerner and one Yorubaman) who both were honoured by being the head of the ARMED FORCES in that same "hostile" "ungrateful" Liberia .... pls note the reaction of the respective kinsmen on the thread. https://www.nairaland.com/59279/nigerian-general-appointed-liberian-army Now compare and contrast to the wonderful respone from our "special" brothers here who did not even allow the ink to dry on their brother's nomination form before they inadvertently settled his case for him https://www.nairaland.com/5757051/president-weah-nominates-ndubusi-nwabudike When we try and correct them they will say it is jealousy and only Biafra can solve their problems 52 Likes 6 Shares |
Politics / Re: Flashback : How Chief Awolowo Dethroned The Alaafin Of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi by samstradam: 3:54pm On Mar 17, 2020 |
TylerDurden: The problem is you are not speaking the truth, but just sounding like a pained person looking for someone to blame for all his problems. Though I agree with you that practically all our founding politicians laid the foundation for Nigeria's malaise they were clearly not disasters like the later generations would and continue to prove to be. Yoruba Obas/leaders are removed if they fail to respect themselves and are failures. We've always had this as part of our history and culture, hundreds of years before Awo ever came on the scene. One thing we understand from Yoruba culture is that no one, which includes our leaders, knows everything or is infallible . Thus we expect leaders to make mistakes and have shortcomings, popular ones will be forgiven and the incapable ones will be abandoned and forgotten. That's why all our Heroes and even Myths are realistic and have stories of highs and lows- we don't worship/adore/idolize humans who don't realize they are human. Here's an article from Vanguard showing different high profile cases that happened in the time of written history. The ups and down of each Oba is typical in our culture. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/obas-go-exile/ as for the Alaafin's father's case, here's more flesh for those who can't bother to use the link. 9jahotblog: I will agree that this was probably the correct decision if you agree that the supreme court had no right to punish the people of Zamfara for observing the Court of Appeal ruling that APC waa allowed to participate in the election. I will agree if you also agree that at worst what the SC should have done was cancel the election and call for a new one excluding APC instead of giving victory to an unpopular party that barely scored 20%. 3 Likes |

This has been a bad year for wailers! On a serious note though I wish this case was not settled on mere technicalities and more on the substance of who actually won and our electoral laws. Just like I wished the overwhelming majority of people in Zamfara were not unfairly disenfranchised and that Rivers State had a real contest. Our Supreme court needs to be far more serious and fair to all. 3 Likes 1 Share |

ADAMUdaCOWBOY: Listening properly to one side of the story will at least let you know somethings are not possible. Marrying in COZA and a car wedding gift are not possible as clearly Fatoyinbo was not happy with the way things ended with the girl he allegedly turned into a woman while "anointing" her simultaneously! Also do you not think that would have been the first thing he put in his original reply? Any judge seeing that would definitely look at the woman as being compromised. People don't want to think with their head on this matter and all they want to do is rely on the fact that the allegations have come to light late and the guy is successful and handsome to defend him. Is he more successful than Bill Cosby or Weinstein? Rubbish. |

May God deliver this nation from supreme laziness and wickedness!! Her video is only one and a half hours - it will not kill you people to watch it you know. After watching it , please tell me where: She said he raped her 3 times? Where she said she married at COZA or ever saw the pastor again after his own cousin delivered her from him? Where is a car gift mentioned? When a people continually support wickedness directly or indirectly God will always visit x3 on you and your generations, go and ask Sodom and Gomorrah. 46 Likes 1 Share |

One thing you are all not taking into coignance is that power will have to go to the middlebelt soon and their is a good chance of a Christian northerner making it through.
