989900: There is 'godfatherism' too in the states, virtually almost everywhere (silent/vocal/visible/invisible). I get what you mean though (liked ur comment), our is just tooooo much.
Thanks! I agree with you. Ours is indeed too much.
OBAFEMIawolowo: shouldn't we be interested in the progress of this nation? Rather than being a partisan in this. The statusquo of this country reflects the fruitlessness in the reasoning of people like you.
Oh boy! Sorry to burst your bubble, I don't play partisan during elections. I'm an electorate; a sane one at that. Electorates see the truths fro themselves and the sane ones make up their mind based on records, facts, achievements, body languages of public officers, utterances et al. but still does not call for sitting on the fence. You're quick to jump into the ocean of conclusion which only implies that you didn't take my post too well. Even the Jonathan the likes of you clamour for, would you tell me authoritatively that his reign so far has been acted out in the interest of the people? I reason well enough to know my left from my right. your status quo has nothing to add to me, hence, the need to bring it up is useless. It's quite saddening that a president goofed for the umpteenth time and the best you could do was to quote me because your digestive tracts in reading sharp posts are dormant. We're all inclined to politicians, electorates or not and nothing will/can change this
anonimi: Obviously many do not understand that OBJ is supposed to be an elder statesman and should behave as such not like some ragtag tout who can make any pronouncement.
Why does Bush, Clinton others not criticise Obama openly unnecessarily
You obviously don't understand Nigerian politics. Even GEJ referred to OBJ as his political father. Check the post well. Unfortunately, Americans don't put up the sickly godfatherism attitude we put up during elections. Our country is divided into various geopolitical zones and a president must be willing to wipe the arse of a retired politician just to win his people. Our politics has not matured enough for the masses to choose an intelligent fellow over a corrupt one. Imagine Obama being a Nigerian, he might impress the educated ones in a debate and you might be shocked to discover that he would lose the election gallantly. Why? The effect of an unseen hand - godfatherism.
not4sure: Don't Mind them do you notice that ever since Obasanjo has made that act of tearing the Membership card Mr President has been staying in southwest. So tell him Obasajo is not relevant. I am sure if OBJ open his doors, GEJ will run to him ASAP
Lolz... We only need to endure him till next month and that settles it! Obasanjo's single act has caused severe trouble in the Jonathan camp, yet, his thugs keep saying OBJ is irrelevant when their oga knows he is. And about GEJ spending enough time in the South-West because of OBJ, I honestly didn't think of it that way, not until you mentioned it. The same S/Westerners he called "Ewedu-eating" people are those people he's coming to woo now.
It is clear that OBJ's actions are dealing deadly blows to Jonathan's camp. For the robots that would likely come in here to say that he's not needed, your paymaster has agreed that 'Ebora Owu' is his political father and god, hence, the need for him to trash him is allowed.
By the way, how's intra-party crisis capable of chasing away investors
In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Mr. Jonathan said Mr. Obasanjo, by his utterances, was creating the impression that Nigeria is a country on the verge of collapse.
Mr. Jonathan therefore advised the former president to be civil in his criticism so as not to create the impression that the country is in crisis. “For one reason or the other, Obasanjo may disagree with me as his first political son. You can even disagree with your own biological children, as a human being, not to talk of disagreeing with your political children. So, he can agree or disagree with me, but the utterances have to be managed in a way that it does not affect the economy and security of this country.
“But I will use this opportunity, because you asked, to just plead with my father that he is a leader, a former president of the country. He has led the country more than anybody — eight years of democratic governance and almost four years of military governance. No other person has that kind of record.
“The stability of this country is critical in terms of the economy of this country. Rating agencies downgrade countries that are going into elections because the feeling is that there would be crisis. When you paint the colour of instability for your own nation, you are doing so much injustice to the country because it affects the economy of the country, not just affecting the country in terms of security and social issues alone. It affects the economy directly. So, I plead with very senior citizens that Nigeria is dear to us; we don’t have any other country than Nigeria.
“So, actions and inactions, or utterances, should be guarded so that we don’t expose our country to the international community as if it is a country in danger, a country that is about to collapse. You are frightening investors, especially those who invest hot cash, to pull out their money from the country and that would affect the stock market and it would affect the economy.” Mr. Jonathan however insisted that he remained a political child of Mr. Obasanjo, saying he owes his rise to political prominence to the influence of the former President.
“First and foremost, Obasanjo is a father to me. By divine providence and the grace of God, I am the President of Nigeria today. It is not by my strength. But God uses human beings to actualise His own blessings on human beings. And he used so many Nigerians, including former President Obasanjo, to play one role or the other for me,” he said.
“I became the deputy governor of a state, became the governor, the vice president and president. I have no issues with him, and I really don’t want to join issues with President Obasanjo. I think it is not necessary,” he added.
The relationship between both men worsened after Mr. Obasanjo’s wrote an 18-page open letter to Mr Jonathan on December 2, 2013, blaming the president for failing to deliver on his promises to Nigerians. He also accused him of making no effort to check the growing corruption in the country and allowing insecurity to degenerate.
In the letter, Mr. Obasanjo also accused Mr Jonathan of hounding prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party opposed to his second term ambition.
Since then, Mr. Obasanjo has relentlessly criticised the Jonathan administration and all efforts by party chieftains to reconcile both of them have failed.
Matters got to a head last Monday after Mr Obasanjo, who apparently got wind of a plan to expel him from the party, dumped the party before the plan was executed. On the occasion, Mr Obasanjo, not one to leave without creating a spectacle, asked the PDP ward leader to tear his membership card.
He also announced his retirement from active politics and expressed his desire to be a statesman.
Mprex: Op dont mind these people asking you to stay away from the guy oh!
So what do you propose? Have her stay close to the guy in question while the relationship with her friends dwindle because of this same guy?
Winnie, it would be wiser for you to just allow him be, irrespective of the friendship. I believe the attraction between you two is as a result of the fact that you see each other almost everyday, hence, the fondness has been interpreted into feelings. It's always disastrous. Normally, your friends should not frown at it since you're not a baby. The best they could have done was to caution you. Don't be surprised IF one of your girlfriends have gotten involved with the guy before. That could possibly be a reason why they get angry each time they see you with him. Guys are never comfortable with the "big bro" thing, particularly when they have professed or poured out their heart. I see no reason why you should flirt with him in the first place. You knew he has a girlfriend and you still enjoy doing so. It doesn't speak well and could only imply "she doesn't mind if I have a girlfriend".
Just like wristwatch stated above, whether on/off, he has a relationship and you've got to accept that fact. You just need to set things right here.
And the President claimed he saw no reason in investigating the tape because it is fake. I wonder how these group of persons managed to find their way into government positions. The president has disgraced and soiled the name of the country so much that redemption on its own would take eight years. Corruption and stealing are different indeed .
Idowu Adelusi could not explain why Governor Fayose would go to Brigadier General Momoh to arrest the APC leaders for rigging, when he had first said that the meeting was called because they “had information” that Brigadier General Momoh was taking bribes from the APC.
A phone conversation between SaharaReporters and Idowu Adelusi, the Chief Press Secretary for Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, reveals the latest attempt by Fayose’s team distort his involvement with rigging the Ekiti State gubernatorial election last year.
Governor Fayose’s position on the audio recording of a meeting between him, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Police Minister Jelili Adesiyan, Senator Iyiola Omisore; and Brigadier General A.A Momoh plotting to rig the Ekiti State election has continuously evolved since SaharaReporters first leaked the story.
The story of the plot was first broken by SaharaReporters on February 5th, which only described the conversation between Governor Fayose and the others; the recording would not be released until later.
On February 6th Fayose denied that a meeting ever took place, and that the audio was fabricated by SaharaReporters using special computer software—this before SaharaReporters had even released the recording and transcripts to the public.
About one week later, SaharaReporters revealed another audio recording of Fayose speaking at a public rally the previous day. In it, Fayose offered a new version of events and admitted to have participated in the meeting with Obanikoro, Brigadier General Momoh, and others. Fayose can be heard on that audio recording saying “listen to the [leaked] tape, you will see I am one accusing the army of compromise,” indicating that he was at the meeting and that he was confronting Brigadier General Momoh of rigging the elections.
Governor Ayo Fayose is no longer the only individual admitting to have been present at the recorded meeting, both Jelili Adesiyan and Musiliu Obanikoro have said they were there but that they were not offering to bribe Brigadier General Momoh or plotting to rig the election. All three men now claim that Brigadier General Momoh was taking bribes from the APC, and that they were simply confronting him about his compromises.
Mr. Idowu Adelusi, the Chief Press Secretary for Governor Fayose, told SaharaReporters during a recent interview “if you listen carefully to the audio tape you will discover that it was Ayo Fayose was complaining that he was accusing it. The Brigadier General Momoh who was taking bribes from the former governor Fayemi and APC.”
When asked whether Governor Fayose was present during the recording, Adelusi said “Yes Fayose, I won’t call it a meeting, Fayose was acting on information he got on between Brigadier General Momoh and the APC trying to manipulate the election and trying to rig the election.”
However when SaharaReporters began quoting Fayose’s statements on the audio about bribing INEC officials to bring him blank election ballots Mr. Adelusi argued that “you didn’t listen to the recording very well,” and that “you will find the things you are saying about is not on the audio tape.” When pushed to on the subject of Fayose demanding to know why the blank INEC ballots had not reached him Mr. Adelusi repeatedly claimed that he could no longer hear SaharaReporters questions.
Idowu’s statements become more confused when he was asked about Fayose’s anger that Brigadier General Momoh was not arresting APC leaders like they had previously agreed. Mr. Adelusi argued that Governor Fayose was demanding that Brig. General Momoh arrest the APC leaders for trying to manipulate the elections in Ekiti. Adelusi said: “[Ayo Fayose] as a candidate must report to Brig. General Momoh that certain people are trying to cause problems. And that they should be arrested. [He has] the right to report to the head of security.”
Idowu Adelusi could not explain why Governor Fayose would go to Brigadier General Momoh to arrest the APC leaders for rigging, when he had first said that the meeting was called because they “had information” that Brigadier General Momoh was taking bribes from the APC.
Last week President Goodluck Jonathan told the Wall Street Journal that the audio SaharaReporters leaked was not worth investigating because “it’s not real.” His statement to the Wall Street Journal, however, contradicts the statements by Governor Fayose, Senator Obanikoro, and Minister Adesiyan who now all admit the recording is real.
tolextony: HOW TO BE AN APC MEMBER OR FAN 1. Create lies; 2. Attack and insult violently when facts are presented; 3.Scream "Sai Buhari" if faced with superior argument. 4. Lose your sense of rationality and logic. 5. Insult the president and anyone that supports him 6. Lie that GEJ stole $49 billion. 7. Disagree with any event or post that portrays GEJ in a goodlight and agree with any event or post that portrays GEJ in a badlight. 8. Disagree with any event or post that portrays GMB in a badlight and agree with any post showing him in a goodlight. 6. Celebrate bokoharam attacks by shouting "GEJ is Clueless, Our soldiers are weak and 6weeks is counting oh" What surprises me is the ease and unremorseful impunity at which Buhari and his supporters tell lies. You can never see any iota of morality in them, it's such a shame! If they tell you they represent change tell them to refute the attached picture. Imagine Tinubu telling you he will fight corruption..don't be decieved..Vote wisely.
Sorry, but you obviously posted rubbish. Come to think of it, I've seen a handful of this post on the forum. Are you guys paid to copy and paste? Why are you guys living up to the name "robot"
I had no intention of commenting but going by what I've been reading I'd say most guys are either lying or just being childish.
For me, I'd gladly do so as long as my brother is cool with it. You didn't hear it from your brother, I believe. You heard it from her and that should cause her respect to run through the roof. Some may say it's a taboo for twon brothers to touch the same lady but I don't see that being applicable here. She had a rough past and we shouldn't condemn her for it. Most guys before me are only being hypocritical as they seem to forget that they have troubling pasts.
OP, you have found a girl whose past is disturbing but that does not imply she should be nailed to the cross. You seem resolute in your quest for love. Love her and take her in if it's cool with you.
I'm a Christian and I do not doubt this; I've never doubted it because the body of CAN had long been tilted and the once dignified body has been compromised, all thanks to you-know-who.
I've always said it, we have little MOGs around and heaven knows that just a few of them are true Men of God. Few were truly called by God while majority of them called God.
deletrue: Intelligence nor dey for age, except that when one becomes matured, his level of reasoning also increases. What you have posted shows that you are a top class individual, be it academics, be it maturity just name it. You are too much. Am usually happy when I come intelligent people. In my days, I usually study very hard, infact, day and night to be able make above average.
sincerenigerian: Nigeria is slowly drifting towards anarchy. We have a lawless president and co president in PEJ. These two monsters are desperate to hold on to power. PEJ wants to turn Rivers State to her pet project and ATM.
An indication of two dictators in a democratic regime. Most people kick against the idea of not creating the office of the first lady but I'm beginning to think otherwise. I was discussing with some friends just after service this evening that the first lady could be the brain behind the attack. It's a terrible situation if you ask me and I believe Nigerians would want day fight back at this oppressive family who have failed to tackle issues plaguing average Nigerians but could engage in Boko-Haram-like activities just because they want to stay relevant in office.
Jonathan and his family are hellbent on dying in office. What's so difficult in allowing opposition parties campaign just because it's your hometown. This is an act of barbarism cum sheer wickedness. If at all she's bothered about losing her hometown to the opposition party, then it means she and her family have not been working enough.
Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has accused the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan, of being responsible for the attack on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress in Okrika, Rivers State, on Tuesday.
Amaechi, who spoke on Tuesday with newsmen in Abuja after an enlarged APC leaders’ meeting at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, condemned the act of violence and expressed disappointment over the law enforcement agents’ failure to ensure a hitch free campaign for the APC, despite having earlier assured the party of security and gave approval for the campaign to hold.
He added, “Again, as usual, the wife of the President won’t allow the APC hold rally in that place (Okrika). The wife of the President and the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers again organised thugs to disrupt the APC rally.
“As usual, the police couldn’t protect us; over 200 policemen. I asked the commissioner of police and he said they have over 200 policemen there. Yet, three explosions and then they opened fire on members of APC. The Channels TV reporter, I hear, was injured, stabbed, and members of APC injured.
“We had meetings with DSS (Directorate of State Service) and police and they confirmed we could go ahead. There were 200 policemen and there were over 20 to 30 DSS men, who came there and they did nothing.”
ammyluv2002: U've said it all..1000 likes from me jare and for the records you're sounding very real and not like an old man dis shows you have seen what life is and what it should be through Christ that strengthens you. I'm really impressed with your post *kudos *
naijabioy: Rubbish thread Op you can go to hell for all I care
This is uncalled for! Haba, it was only her opinion coupled with that of her friends and a comdey show. That it's her opinion doesn't mean it must be so.
Safarigirl, I'd say you got it quite wrong. I have seen ladies leave the comfort of a guy's money to settle for a guy who has less, and this is not Nollywood.
The problem is that girls of today sell their loves for sums. And that explains why most of them are dumped like bags of potatoes. A girl who places money above all things in a relationship is blind and cannot see afar off. Money is needed in a relationship, yes, but the absence of key ingredients such as respect, understanding, trust and love itself, in the face of money is pure waste.
Well, again I believe it depends on age and geographical location. A girl between 19-24 could trust so much in money and would leave her average man to be with a richer dude. And as touching location, it could cause a girl to chase the rich guys alone so as to remain relevant and competitive in the dating market but that does not mean a reasonable lady would do such.
I have female friends who would say love, trust and respect is all they need from a guy, and they wouldn't let go once they find these things in one. Why They've seen life from some other perspective.
