ofcourse, one is not on a mission to get the audience discombobulated, but what especially makes a poem standout from other literary genre is the more connotative sense embedded in the writing or tone itself.
I beg to disagree. What makes poetry unique from other works of art are the structures, rhythmic tonality or the musicality of the poem and how the poem establishes certain degree of artistic values while still passing its message.

The poem is not poetic and connotative... You had only one thing in mind and that is to discredit someone.. This is a poem I wrote few minutes back ...

It just came back
That awareness of me
The pen grounded to write
of words that are paramount
One in parallel with thoughts

Pasting this just to indicate I understand the genre of literary composition, at least to decipher one that can't be given the tag 'poem'..

GOODLUCK!
Poetry is not about use of elated words to tell how we mean but how we feel. A good poet does not need to engage the use of confusing connotative words just because he does not want his meaning sorted almost easily.

Randerl:
One of the best decisions ever made by the present administration, was the rescheduled 2015 General Elections.

It shook the saboteurs off balance.
I guess I'm to believe you did not read the post at all? The elections was postponed without a strong plan from the FG in combating the insurgency and the President is now running and affiliating himself with the United States to help him combat the terror in his house just because the Americans are busy dealing with ISIS. Elections was postponed a week away from its original date and now their is confusion in the air as to how a six-year catastrophe can be dealt with in just six weeks.

He told the Wall Street Journal in an interview: “Are they (the United States) not fighting ISIS? Why can’t they come to Nigeria?

“They are our friends. If Nigeria has a problem, then I expect the US to come and assist us.”

But Pentagon spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby said there are no plans to send US troops to Nigeria.

“I can tell you that there are no plans as I speak here to send unilaterally, to send or to add US troops into Nigeria. There are no US troops operating in Nigeria,” he told reporters.
Chai! Cluelessness in a new dimension.

To serious issues, it was obvious, even to the blind that combating the insurgency for six weeks is unrealistic as they could not be defeated for the last six years. That the deadly group has gain strength overtime is as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government towards the deadly sect.

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan appealed for more US help in fighting Boko Haram, as the Islamists struck again on Saturday and called for a boycott of upcoming general elections.

The head of state for the first time claimed direct links between the Sunni radicals who have been waging a six-year insurgency in Nigeria and the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.

Kirby said the United States was in the early phases of helping establish a multi-national task force of African nations to help Nigeria defeat Boko Haram.

Jonathan’s comments were published as hundreds of Islamist fighters invaded the northeastern city of Gombe, firing heavy guns and throwing leaflets calling for locals to shun the elections.

The attack, which began at about 9:00 am (0800 GMT), saw residents flee and the authorities impose a 24-hour lock-down in the city, which Boko Haram has repeatedly targeted.

Boko Haram has opened up two new fronts in its campaign to create a hardline Islamic state in northeast Nigeria, pushing into neighbouring Niger last week and for the first time on Friday, Chad.

It has also increased the frequency and intensity of its attacks on northern Cameroon. The increasing regional threat has led to the deployment of troops from all three countries, reflecting security fears.

Jonathan and his government have long sought to portray, the insurgency as being fuelled by outside forces and he has previously called Boko Haram “Al-Qaeda in west Africa”.

Critics have interpreted his attempt to blame foreigners for the violence that has left more than 13,000 dead and displaced more than one million since 2009 as a diversion from national failings.

Boko Haram, which loosely translates from the Hausa language widely spoken in northern Nigeria as “Western education is forbidden”, started out in 2002 as a largely peaceful Islamist movement.

But it has been transformed in the last six years from a rag-tag group of guerrilla fighters into a conventional army, seizing territory and dozens of towns in three northeast Nigerian states.

The group has generally not been thought to have any direct operational links with overseas jihadis, although some fighters may have received training from Al-Qaeda-linked militants in north Africa.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has previously mentioned IS group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in videos but has not pledged allegiance to the outfit.

The Nigerian group’s tactics of extreme violence and mass casualty hit-and-run raids, bombings and suicide attacks also predated those carried out by the IS group.

But Jonathan told the US newspaper that Nigeria had intelligence reports that Boko Haram was receiving “training and funds” from IS militants.

Any direct US military intervention would constitute a marked shift in Nigeria’s attitude towards the conflict. It has repeatedly insisted that it can take on the militants alone.

The United States has provided surveillance and intelligence specialists, as well as aerial drones, to help in the high-profile hunt for 219 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram last April.

But bilateral ties have since been fraught over Washington’s refusal to provide military hardware because of concerns about human rights abuses in the Nigerian army.

The latest attack in Gombe, south of Boko Haram’s centre of operations, coincided with the original date for presidential elections, at which Jonathan is seeking a second four-year term.

The vote was postponed last Saturday after the electoral commission was advised that regional forces needed more time to tackle the insurgents and would not be able to provide security on polling day.

But the six-week deadline to effectively secure and stabilise the northeast and allow hundreds of thousands of people displaced by the violence to vote has been seen as unrealistic.

Jonathan on Friday maintained that postponing the elections until March 28 would give the security agencies time to “clean up” the three states worst hit by the insurgency for voting to take place.

Explain Proverb 6:16
There are six things which God hates;
yes, seven which are an abomination to him:

Mr President is 100% correct. It's only hate mongers blinded by absolute antagonism that can point at holes in his explanations in relation to the understanding of most people in Nigeria
Again, I say the problem is not far-fetched. The Bible was documented for our easy use because the Anglo-Saxon English was adopted. Anglo-Saxon English is what is today known as Old English and as almost everyone knows, the English language is dynamic. Years back, 'Night Vigil' was correct but today it is a regarded as a tautology - repetition, meaning the same thing.

Though some would have you believe that sin is sin, and all are the same, the bible would beg to differ. Though any kind of unrepentant sin can send one to hell, the bible speaks of one kind of sin that God referred to by a different name: It was called an Abomination.
There are some things which are said to be abominable to the Lord Prov. 6:16-19 The word “abominable” refers to something which is extremely despised. Therefore, there are some things which God hates extremely, while others can be tolerated.

Now tell me, according to the Nigerian Constitution, between stealing and corruption, which of them is tolerated by the law?

Can you categorically tell me that some one who use your memory card with your consent & got it corrupt is the same thing with some one who stole your memory storage card without your consent?

English is English world wide,

My memory card got corrupted is different from my memory card got stolen! I don't need any lawyer to interpret that to me.
Wow! In your mind you've made a point undecided

Corrupt in the case of your memory card would mean your memory card has been damaged or has been altered unintentionally.

Corrupt in the case of a public official would mean perversion, compromising moral values, judgements/standard.

You memory card is corrupt (verb)

A man is corrupt (adjective)

I hope you understand now.

Some so-called intellectuals are becoming mentally innate.

1. The comment was a direct quote by the President in reference to a speech made by the Chief Justice of the federation.

2. Where I come from, a thief and a corrupt person is not the same so also is it in many parts of Nigeria.

We assume that Abomination is higher degree of Sin hence the Abominable needs to be ostracised.

3. In communication (syntax and semantic), the understanding of the recipient is/should be the target of the speaker to avoid defeating the purpose of the information delivered.

Let's stop flogging the dead horse. There is no mis-communication in the explanation of the President rather what we have are bunch of hate mongers who not only show their stupidity in attacking everything the President represents as a manifestations of the absolute resentment and antagonism.
Ngwakwe, I beg to disagree with your assertion. I wouldn't have responded to your post if the syntax/semantic ish never came up.

What is Synatx: In a layman's definition, it refers to a branch of linguistics which governs the rule of language language

What is Semantics: It's also a branch of linguistics which refers to meaning in respect to symbols, words, phrases and what they mean.

Having clarified these two branches of linguistics, it would therefore be right to say your inclusion of Syntax in the discourse is flawed since the utterance of the President does not beg for linguistic analysis.

Therefore, a thief in EVERY part of the world is as a result of corrupt/soiled/perverted upbringing/personal conviction. Hence, your assertion of where you come from is again not accepted.

That someone sins in Christendom is the same as committing an abomination before God. And that would imply that for you to do something abominable means that you have flouted (sinned or gone contrary to) the set rules of the land, which again makes the two the same.

In your quest to defend the President, it would also be right to say that the President lacks the will to communicate effectively. Hence, the infamous quote you're trying to defend is 'Pragmatically' and 'Stylistics' interpreted, rather than depend on other part of the text/discourse for meaning.

What then is Pragmatics: This is a branch of linguistics which studies how CONTEXTS contribute to meaning or how a language is used in a CONTEXT.

And Stylistics? This deals with the study of texts/speech/utterance in regard to their tonal style

The concept of communication in this regard is well established and one would not need to put bits and pieces together to understand what the President means. While we're trying to create further argument between bad and evil, please note that another infamous phrase of the President; "How much did Jim Nwobodo stole?" is also to further expatiate that the President is a man of corrupt values, morals and would still go on to defend this shameful claim of his at the international scene if given a chance. I spent 4 years studying the branches of linguistics and would gladly analyze every speech of the President to prove my claim.

Abeg, let's enjoy politics cheesy

Some lawyers have cautioned President Goodluck Jonathan to stop differentiating between the acts of stealing and corruption.

The President had during the 8th presidential media chat on Wednesday maintained that there was a difference between the two acts. This came several months after he first made a similar statement.

“If somebody is a thief, he is a thief. We should not use the word ‘corruption’ to cover a case of stealing. Thieves should be called thieves,” the President had said.

However, a lawyer and human rights activist, Prof. Itse Sagay, said in a telephone conversation with Saturday PUNCH that there was no technical difference between the two acts and that persons involved in either should be made to face the wrath of the law.

He said, “In a broad legal sense, they are the same. Stealing is taking what belongs to another person without the consent of the owner with the intention of keeping it permanently.

“Corruption is using an office to acquire the resources of an organisation without working for it and without the organisation’s awareness. Looking at it, using an office as a political office holder to acquire what belongs to the state results to stealing.

“Ultimately, every act of corruption is an act of stealing. There is no question about it. There is no moral or ethical difference between them. Both are criminal, immoral and anti-social acts and nobody should attempt to make one look lighter than the other. People who commit either should be dealt with seriously.”

A civil rights lawyer, Fred Agbaje, said President Jonathan’s differentiation between the acts was clear evidence that the President’s government is corrupt.

He said that the President was only giving two terms for same offence.

He said, “Defence of stealing as different from corruption is indicative of the fact that President Jonathan’s administration is morally bankrupt.

“What the President has said is an admission of guilt and that his government is corrupt. It is a distinction without substance. It is calling one object two different names.

The nomenclature may differ, but the substance of both allegations is the same.

“Which of them is allowed in our law whether he calls them in different names? They are both punishable under our penal laws. Stealing is even worse than corruption. Both of them carry a legal element of deliberately taking what does not belong to someone with the intent of depriving the taxpayers.”

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, has said the use of Electronic Management Tool to be used for the 2015 elections is welcome but that the country is not ready to be used as a guinea pig.

He said the Independent National Electoral Commission must ensure a successful test-run before approving it for use in the elections.

Mu’azu stressed in a statement that INEC management must get everything right before introducing the measure.

He was quoted in a statement to have spoken when a delegation of Africa Union Election Observers, led by AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Dr. Aisha Abdullahi, called on him in his office at Wadata House in Wuse Zone 5.

Abdullahi said they were impressed seeing no street fighting or protest trailing the postponement, adding that it was a sign of maturity of Nigerians and the depth of democratic practice in the country.

The team leader, who was a former Commissioner in Mu’azu’s cabinet when he was governor for Bauchi State between 1999 and 2007, was accompanied on the visit by five members of the AU observer mission to monitor the March 28 elections.

Mu’azu said, “What is happening today in INEC has been highlighted to them via letters from our party to his office on so many issues including the fraud of PVC we anticipated, including the manipulation. We all said this in writing to INEC.

“It is because we are the ruling party, we don’t want to be unruly because if we were the opposition, we would make a lot of noise and say a lot of things.”

“In their own sense of judgment, how does Professor (Attahiru) Jega, who is the leader of INEC, exonerate himself from disenfranchising 23 million Nigerians and telling the world that he is ready for elections; and we are saying that he is not ready, 23 million out of the 68 million registered voters, by his personal submission in the Council of State that was held last week to review the preparedness or otherwise of INEC to conduct the election. Twenty three million PVCs were either produced and not distributed or not produced at all.

“This must be highlighted and made known to the world. Your report must be very explicit to explain what has happened. He is lying.

“We must not have 100 per cent as the threshold for distribution and collection but 23 million out of 68 million eligible voters or 34 per cent as the INEC Chairman himself confirmed is unacceptable by any standard.”

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday promised that the nation’s security forces would completely wipe out members of the violent Boko Haram sect from Adamawa and Yobe states before the March 28 and April 11 rescheduled dates of general elections.

He also promised that in the case of Borno State, at least 70 per cent of the state would be recovered before the elections.

Jonathan made the promise during a cocktail he organised for members of the diplomatic corps at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the security forces would carry out the operation in order to ensure that elections hold in the three affected states.

He said, “This period will give them (security forces) the opportunity to ‎clean up the three states. If at all they cannot clean up the three states, at least two states will be recovered completely and more local governments even from the remaining state so that elections could be conducted even in Borno State.

“Even if we don’t take over all the territories in Borno State, definitely in Adamawa and Yobe states we will take over completely and even Borno State, the headquarters of Boko Haram, even if we don’t take over completely at least 70 per cent of that state will be free for elections to be conducted.

“This is because democracy can only be meaningful if people are allowed to select who rules them.”

Jonathan boasted that his administration would defeat insurgency the same way it defeated the Ebola Virus Disease.

He said the whole world would see his administration’s achievement in that area very soon.

The President said his administration recognised the real threats terrorism posed to the nation’s development and national security.

He said insurgency had become the biggest manifestation of terrorism not only in Nigeria but also in the region.

He said the activities of the sect had further shown that no single country could effectively tackle terrorism and insurgency alone.

Jonathan explained that that was why the Federal Government was collaborating with neighbouring countries, sub-regional allies ‎and other partners beyond the region to deal with what he described as mortal challenge to Nigeria’s security and development.

“We are already beginning to turn the trend. Let me reassure you very clearly that we will surely win the war against Boko Haram. We are moving faster now, ‎in the next few weeks, the whole world will know that we are totally committed and that we are in a position to save our people,” he added.

On the rescheduled elections, the President insisted that it was a decision taken in the best interest of the country.

True, I agree, it's a great movie but sometimes critics don't see things the way we see them. Here are some of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Read them and see for yourself. Meanwhile, I'll post some here...

Toothless, poorly scripted and drowning in an overload of pointless CGI, Dracula Untold just plain sucks, both as a medieval epic and as the supposed launching pad for a new generation of movie monsters.
Dracula Untold is agreeably silly at points, but that hardly covers for the fact that much of the film's action is visually incomprehensible.
...another misguided contemporary update of a classic character.
Vlad's a super-monster. The plot gets jittery. Vlad's relationship with his sweet, fair, lovely wife remains sweetly, fairly, lovingly vapid. And into the 15th-century setting is tossed the modern trope of the father who'll do anything for his family.
Why this critics are harsh, based on what I've read is that the story of Lord Implaler (which in itself is a true life story of Vlad the Impaler, of the house of Drak/Dragon) who had issues with the Turks... Hope you read the reviews though.
