Hey all, so I have been on this crazy and interesting forum for a long time. I have seen many guys and very few ladies create topics on "Searching for a true relationship" on nairaland. Some of them have been trolled at and even insulted by both guys and ladies, who question the rationale behind coming to a faceless forum to seek for a serious relationship.
Truth is that, I have been indifferent to such posts. But here I am, about to follow their lead!

I will be 27 by December, and I am really starting to think about settling down for real. I'm not RICH, but I am doing fine for my self and will do better with time by the grace of God.

I lied to my guy that we have the same birth day and month and he has been over the moon. Saying I'm his missing rib an all that. This happen during our talking stage which is a year ago.

Less than 2 weeks into the relationship. (We were still getting to know each other) She called one day…

I was too busy so I couldn’t take her call. My intention was to call back when less busy but somehow I didn’t get to returning her call.

She called many times during the day and somehow I saw the call but it was always at an unsuitable time.

I finally was free later that evening… I can’t remember if she called again or I called but the first thing she said when she/I picked was “ THUNDER FIRE YOU !“ followed by ***##%%%^^* and then more explicives. For close to a minute i calmly listened to her go on. She insulted my full generation… no one left out.

I was shocked. I couldn’t say anything because I expected her to wait for an explanation. She didn’t even allow me say anything.

She dropped the call… I didn’t call back. The next day she called to apologize (I had already seen her real character) but I never called or saw her again and the relationship died a natural death.

I no want hot tempered woman when go Dey knock my head for house Abeg.

She sounded violent too… like if I was present physically she for press my neck.

All the comments above have not actually hit the nail in the right place. The major issue is that African marriages are not laced with romance and affection.
How do I mean?
* Most couple stop showing affection to each other once they start bearing kids and over see finish has crawled into their marriage.
* African couples rarely make out for themselves alone in terms of going on dates ( at least once in a while)
* Marriage is what you put in it ,that’s what you get, you should learn to do things together ie weekends both man and wife can create time to put the huz in order( not by force) but with love cuz it creates bond between couples.
*You can create low budget vacation for just you both without the kids.
*Once in a while try having sex outside the huz, look for an affordable hotel around ur area and maybe do just one night.
* Marriage shouldn’t be about the kids, cuz have noticed what most couple talk about the kids, bills and family issues.Spice it up a little and gist about ur selves, probably the sex you had the previous night😜
* Let there be stewardship ( you guys should always review ur attitude towards each other by asking if each is meeting up expectations etc)*

*Most African couple rarely send romantic messages unlike when they were dating when most times you wake up to see sweet soul piercing messages from ur lover. But in marriage all the messages are for purchases of huz hold items.

Marriage is sweet but not in Africa. Africa marriages are very boring😭

- Fuel for car - N180,000 (36k for 5-6days)
- Auto maintenance - N30,000/mth (service/repair)
- Fuel for generator - N50,000/mth (20ltr/wk)
- Feeding - N62,000 - (N2,000/day)
- Health miscellenous - N5,000/mth
- Dstv - N4,500/mth
- Data - N7,000/mth
- Recharge card - N3,000/mth
- Dry cleaner - N4,000/mth (Starch/iron)
- Hygiene maintenance - N10,000 (body spray/perfume, roll on, soap, cream) etc..
-  Gift to people - N10,000/mth
-  Family House contribution - N20,000/mth
- Eko electric - N10,000/mth
- repairs and maintenance - N12,000/mth
- Clothing, footwear etc - N10,000/mth
- Outings, restaurant, sit outs and provisions - N30,000/mth

Total = N556,500...

My rent is average rent for where i stay, its a two bed flat, i use the other room for home office..

Feeding is N2,000/day.. its not anything out of the ordinary.. tried cooking and spent more with time wasting.

Fuel for car is at the new rate of N500/ltr, my car is a 70ltr car tank..

Auto maintenance is basic brake pads, shocks, service 2mths, tire guage, police pr, tire purchase if any, minor touch ups etc... nothing major.

Fuel for generator is 20ltr/day (2hrs or less daily)

I need help.... how are you people doing it, what am i doing wrong? The rat race is killing me..
