Please,I need your input on how to contact the Home Office for an application within the UK on my situation.

My family and I applied to switch to a Tier 2 visa since August. My wife, who is the main applicant, got her visa early in October, while i and the children's visas are still not yet out. This is the 11th week of these applications. i am really worried because our Tier 4 had already expired in late October.

I have successfully completed my MSc, and i am supposed to start working full time now, but this delay is not helping as most of the work i demanding my share code.

I have called the HO, they only told me to send mail to the complaint, which I did two weeks ago. Still no feedback yet. This is really frustrating; what else can i do to address this? Has anyone experienced this before? I need the best advice, please. I am tired of checking my email.

I was in same shoes like you, mine took over 8months, Contacted MP and all. MP sent back a copy of response from HO stating backlog issues. Although mine might have been self inflicted(maybe not). As at when I applied in October, My passport was expiring in December. After I got my New passport in June, I uploaded it, the new next day I got application successful email and got my brp a few days later. Good thing I was already working so my employers just needed to cofirm with HO.

Has anyone gone to the Dominican republic before with Nigerian Passport and Uk work permit before? Does it require entry visa? Seen alot of things online on it being visa free, but nothing official. Emailed their consulate and tourism board but yet to get a response.

I had decided to let go of this thread because folks like Justman had decided to use the opportunity of being a moderator to attack beliefs that people hold sacred. I never understand how one thinks it's wise to keep saying negative things about non-criminal religious doctrines. You won't do such in UK to people's sexual orientation, for instance, regardless of your stance on the matter. But because it's Nairaland, it's alright to say things like "someone's sacred doctrine is a scam run by crooks in the Church".

I digress... But, I think I will come back. My epistles have helped so many people here.

I passed my theory driving test yesterday, first time. I also got my Mortgage Offer last week after only coming here 2 years ago as a Student Dependant. These are only 2 examples of some of the ways God has used information from this thread to help me.

I had my graduation yesterday, and it was eventful. I would like to thank you personally, @semmyk, for making this happen.

When all hope was lost,you came through with your advice and the right step to take.

I'm sure you still remember my situation vividly,when I failed my modules and the school was going to award me a postgraduate diploma instead of an MSc.

I followed your advice and wrote to the vice chancellor of my school regarding my predicament and why I failed. Her office swung into action, and I was given the last chance 'Extenuating Circumstances’ .

I was asked to resubmit the failed module, and I passed.

Yesterday, I was awarded a Master of Science.

If you check your application, They would have told you the behaviours where your questions would come from, managing a quality service, delivering at pace, changing and improving etc. Get answers for these in STAR format for each of these scenarios(multiple answers for each if you can). The closer your answers are to the job Spec the better. All the best

It does but the percentage depends on the location amongst other factors, one of my Dad propertise appreciated by 75% in the North over 18 years. My property appreciated by over 400% in 5years in Lagos.

OP how old are? WHat Tech skills do you have? Are you skilled in a certain stack? I ask all these questions because they would be input into my advisa. Let say you are young(under 30) and are in junior/intermediate level in tech skills then I would say this... You have visit visa, use it to VISIT canada come back and continue your job while you use the savings from the job(based on the fact you said it comes with housing and other benefits) to plot a more permanent route to visa. Based on the assumption you are under 30 , write IELTS and get in the Pool for Express entry, while applying for schools for further studies. Use your job and save for plan for relocation. Its not a race but a maraton, How you relocate is very important, going and doing all those under the table jobs and not having right to work can put kill your canadian dream. PLAN WELL! PLAN WELL!!. While you are on visit visa, you can make trips to canada and connect with companies that can sponsor you. They allow it for now, though I do no think this would last for long.

Just got a love phone call from Asda on not being successful for a graduate role.

Said something about me or doing well in the interview: said I talked a little fast, didn't sell my self well and all that.

Wasn't too surprised though, it just confirmed my suspicions that my interview skills has been the culprit on my inability to get a professional job. Don't know, something about my brain disconnected from my mouth when I'm talking in interviews after all the aptitude tests, phone interviews, screening etc

Can anyone point me to an online resource that might be of assistance in helping me understand how interviews are assessed here: way to talk, tone, pace, volume, body posture, being clear and logical enough, what to do if you don't have an answer to the question asked or not prepared for it etc.

At some point you will get used to these rejections. Dont let it bother you, Just work more on you interviewing skills. Like someone earlier highlighted learn to use the STAR Method(if you dont already). Practise practise and practise some more. What many done know is that interviewing is a skill and can be developed. It comes naturally to some people, but to some others we have to put in extra effort. There are loads of resource on youtube that have sample scenario questions that you can adapt to fit the role you are applying for. Careervids, Amri Celeste -Interview coach are some of the good ones. You can also research the organisation on glassdoor, go to the interview section on glassdoor and you might be lucky to see someone paste previous interview questions they were asked on that role. You can use site: interview warmup to practise for your interview. Or you use the good old phone recording your self in your practise session. You will hear how you sound, and know how to remedy the areas you are weak. If you have OneNote on your laptop, It has a voice recording feature. I always advocate for students to start applying for roles long before they graduate. Use the time to test their interviewing skills and develop it if need be.

This is not true. PSW takes average of 6 weeks decision time. Haven't heard of anyone who applied and got decision in a week not to talk of 24 hrs

Usually she would have been given 6 months to stay from the day she enter(check this on her passport). The idea is not to let it get to 6 months. She leave around 5 months.

Thought the insurer pays directly to the service provider even if it's one chosen by the insured. So, you can either have them take the car to one their listed garages (they pay directly) or take it any of your preferred and present the invoice then they pay.

I tried to dig for more info, but that was all I could get.Based on my previous knowledge, the steps you enumerated above is the process I knowtoo, so I was very surprised to find out out that insurance could pay directly to you. I actually pasted the scenario to find out if anyone can confirm or corroborate it. She said lots of people she knows have gotten claim like that. Took over two months for investigation though.

After my car (2009) got into accident as a result of at-fault driver, I was really stressed and worried about commuting, the following day the insurance brought me a 2022 made Kia as a courtesy car to use pending investigation, although i was told that I will given a courtesy car but the timing and the car type is far above my expectations, because it was delivered quickly.

Was driving on the motorway this morning just to see some few functionalities of the car, I put on the cruise mode and lane assist mode, the car was just driving me without controlling the steering even at corners/curves.

Really feel different.

I just hope this is not a temptation to go collect car for Arnold Clark like this, as most of my friends have been doing.😂🤣😂🤣

My advise would be to convert and if you want to keep your savings back in Nigeria or bring to the Uk fine, Just make sure you convert. What ever gains you make on naira investment would be wiped out with forex conversion. So time to change your funds was yesterday, just keep what ever recurring expense/overhead you have in naira and change the rest.

I totally agree with this statement. I called someone to come hang my 65" tv. The guy dey charge me £60.....60 kini, na so i enter Facebook market, find £10 correct cordless drill, enter wilko bought the kits and tv hanger. I tell madam to prepare pounded yam in the morning for strength. By afternoon we're already charged up. Na so i begin DIY work. Brethren, me and madam lift the tv up after i don connect all the hangers and all. I do my thing myself and i was very pleased and proud. Next stop wey i dey plan na to install wallpapers myself and do some paintings. This Uk will teach you skills.

Schoolhike, you have aptly summarized all points. I will get chartered in a year time surely. Just few papers left.

Honestly, Company B does it for me. Proximity to work and all. it costs about 15 pounds daily to get to company A by train and just 2 quid to company by bus. Also, I am tired of the work as it is not as challenging as i would want and my line manager can be a handful.

I believe that once i am chartered i can always get a company to sponsor me as i have quite a number of them reach out for interviews and all. so i am not even banking on sponsorship from company B. I will try and negotiate with company B again.

Ultimately the decision is yours to make. When you make the decision, own it with your chest. This is actually a test of the kind of person you are..are you a high risk, high reward individual or stability, low reward one. I didn't see you talk about kids, that would have made the decision making process more complex. I somewhat believe you have sort of made up your mind which to go with. As they say..'Fortune favors the brave'. I pray that what ever decision you make, it brings fulfilment to you and your family.

When buying a land from any of these agencies in Nigeria how do one verify that they are genuine? Apart from visiting their offices and viewing the land which other ways can one verify that these are not scammers?

you might also want to post question about the particular agency. Some might even genuine sell land/houses but might have terrible customer experience with regards to the journey from payment to ownership (exchange of keys/Docs). One can draw from others experience. Been on both sides of the divide and dealing with a terrible agency would always leave a sour taste in the mouth.

I just decided to check on a thread I did follow back in Naija by @chiggslover and got the shock of my life. He committed suicide. Probed further on his telegram group and found out he joined a certain group on twitter "Earth Citizen Movement " whose philosophy welcomes the idea of taking your life.

It is sad baring the fact that this guy was a very brilliant fellow and had a lot of information he gave out free. Many people are in Ireland because of the light he brought.


On a very serious and unfortunate note, He started bashing Christianity and mocking the practise of same in Nigeria. He did say a lot of awful things which is not new to what people who had no roots in God do when they transfer to saner climes.


I am bringing this here, because it is very very easy to say damn whatever Faith you believe in. The same Faith that kept you and gave you mental grit to face challenges. The same God you once loved and worshipped in Naija. Now , you have seen uninterrupted electricity, good roads, working environment and you now mock people back home for choosing to stay steadfast to their beliefs.

People drift into atheism and the likes here and suddenly feel they are in charge. I would have had no problem if this is where it stops.

But....... see how they eventually brainwashed this amazing guy into believing that he was doing the earth a great deal by ending his own life. Isn't this the description of folly?

Instead of trying to get a fake license... Or get a Naija license when you can't drive... Forget about license.

[/b]I remember when I was coming over, I was so keen on getting my International License, but came here and for 2 years, I never had a need to drive or buy a car. Train, buses and bicycle, then ocassional taxi were all I needed for any movement.

As for getting a UK License, it's straightforward and easy, just need to pass the tests which you may need some driving lessons for.

With regards to the bolded, it would depend on your lifestyle, closeness to transport links from your abode and the likes. I too have not need for a car yet, even though that might soon change. But If one lives in a remote area and does not live near transport hub, or have transport come irregularly, commutes to work from there. Driving might make life easier for them.
