I will advice you withdraw and reapply cos once you have not done your biometrics then you are entitled to a refund of your application fee. Unless you mean something else by it being an expensive option. Kindly read up on Visa withdrawal.

I have got a perculiar question, just want to know if someone has been in a similar situation..I made a mistake while filling my kid on dependant application skilled work visa (not health care). I checked yes for having ILR /british citizen (dont know how in Gods name I missed that even after several reviews). Hence it didnt ask me for my COS while filling it, even though it did ask me for the type of visa I was on and I paid for the visa length(Skill work visa already issued). I noticed the error while booking biometric appointment. I am thinking of adding a letter of explanation to clarify this error and attaching my COS. Or option 2 will be to withdraw the application and apply again(expensive option). Dont know if anyone has been in similar shoes, done letter of explanation and received visa

Good morning house, my husband just got a job in Leeds to resume in January. Because of funds , he plans to go first to settle down especially because of the house scarcity problem in the UK now and secondly because of funds needed for the whole relocation (we are a family of 4). He is saying that we would join him latest in 6months, but from friends I heard that once the principal leaves for the UK, it will take a year or so for them to consider the dependants to join the principal.(delayed visas etc). Please I need experienced info as this will help our decisions, Thank you.

@Unik91 Not true, dependant can join as soon as you apply and get decision from home office, delay could sometimes be up to 2-3 months though (thats if aunty suella does not change goal post, luckily you would be on skilled work route and not student so e no suppose touch una)

@AlphaUno Dismissing other peoples experience because you found it easier is in itself egocentric.. I had to change accomodation recently and I know what I went through. The fact that I did not not pay 1 year or even six month upfront, does not mean my friend who has been here for a year already and had to also change accomodation and pay one year upfront is silly or desparate. He was rejected twice with his 1 year payment. You can seat there and dismiss the struggle of peoples trying to get a roof over they and their families as lazy, thats fine but also realize that different realities exists for different people. Locations also give different experiences in same Uk. It might be easier to find a house in aberdeen than it is easier to find in london. Also you looking for a flatshare might get a place easier than one looking for a 3 bed for a family of 5 or 6. Different realities exist. DO NOT DISMISS PEOPLES EXPERIENCE!

Funny enuf I just googled renew Nigerian passport in uk. it took me to the Nigerian high commision website, which then linked me to the innovate1 interface where you fill in your details, I made payment and then clicked the link in the acknowledgement slip to book appointments. Make sure you print your application form, payment receipt and acknowledgement slip. Appointment dates are around Nov.

@LagosismyHome .Normally yes..But I know someone that travelled with just ghana must go,. Mid way getting to their destination, national express refused to carry them. Nation Express picked them from heathrow, they had to change at another terminal for another bus, when the bus driver saw the ghana must go, asked if they had food in it(trust naija to carry fish naa). They refused to carry them until they took out the food items.

I am done with Uni and want to start applying for fulltime jobs in my field. However, my husband has a job offer already but yet to get COS cos of employment checks. I just have 3 months left before my Visa expires and my dilemma now is if my Visa status will be a problem if I pass the interviews. Can I explain that I necessarily dont need visa sponsorship from the Company cos I plan to switch my visa soon? Or should I wait till we successfully switch Visa before I start applying for jobs. Really confused and scared of being turned down cos of my present status.

Like several people have mentioned, Start applying, when it gets to the part of immigration checks mention that upon expiration you would active your 2 year graduate visa. Hopefully by then your hubby COS has pull through.

I wish I have insight on living in Liverpool, I would have dished out..with regards to the second question, The choice is ultimately yours, People would only give advise based of their personal experience, but in the end, you have to make the decision that suits your specific situation. You could take up the care job first as they relatively easy to get. But also realize aside care there are also other role you can easily pick up like customer support roles, retail positions etc while you keep searching in your area of experience. I believe on should set an goal on what one wants to achieve and work towards it.

- How long was the conviction for. I.e the jail term: less than or over 4 years.
- What are the factual rehabilitation steps/actions in the 14 years post deportation
- What are the tangible/reputable endeavour(s) indicative of remodeled, model citizen.

The rule of thumb is that if conviction is for 4yrs or more, refusal is almost certain. However, even at that, it is not absolute. For less terms, there's still hurdles. It gets more finicky with DBS, ATAS.

I have a peculiar case with regards to a friend who was jailed in the canada and deported to Nigeria some 14 years ago. He has since remodeled himself and become a model citizen, raising a family. He wants to apply for a masters in the uk and intends to give full disclosure when applying for his Visa. What are his chances of getting his visa approved? Anyone know of a similar situation and gotten approval?

His chances are high if he is 100% honest. I suggest he adds a cover letter to his application to explain what happened 14 years ago, how he has learnt his lesson, how sorry he is for what happened and how he has turned his life around.

I know someone who had a similar issue (she was deported from the UK but was not jailed). She applied years later and got back into the UK with the skilled worker visa.

He should be honest and pray for the best.

There will be lots of scrutiny on his application and detailed checks due to previous immigration issues in Canada

You don't have to relate with the parents. If you force it, you will struggle as you will likely have different interests. I only relate with the nice ones among them.

My own story: my son is the only black in his class and has loads of friends in his class. He does not get to play with any of them after school as well except when he is invited for birthday parties (which is quite often, for example he currently has about 5 parties this month).
One thing I did is to ensure he attends most of the birthday parties whenever it is not on Sundays. So, he can use the time to bond with his classmates.
When he had his birthday party, I was worried that a lot of his friends will not want to attend his own birthday party but to my amazement, he kept requesting for more invitation cards and we eventually had more people than we budgeted for.

So, don't worry too much about it. Just ensure that you let your kids know that they are loved. Also, get your kid involved in different after school activities where they can make friends.

In my case my son is the social butterfly, blends easily and had loads of friends in a short time, while my daughter on the other hand is selective. Unfortunately we had to move cities again just as they were bonding and beginning to make friends.It is what it though. Birthday parties was how I was able to bond with other parents (actually my spouse did the bonding and I just latched on). But we are starting allover again as we just moved .

I think I will just let it happen naturally and get them involved in as much after school activities as suggested here. Its nice to know that other people are experiencing what you experience. It is sometime hard to articulate your experience and put them into words. God bless the person wey start this thread, Its a treasure trove. Walahi, navigating the western environment no easy, one has to be intentional and constantly updating knowledge. We keep pushing!

I have a friend (na friend o. ) who has been maxing out his credit limit (I think its £500 / £600) and has been paying it back

Warned him about the impact on his score but he claims it wont affect anything as long as he pays back in full every month

I am curious as to how this actually impacts his score as general guidance I see online it to keep it under 30%. (I keep mine under 15% to avoid stories that touch the heart and soul)

Some input will be appreciated as I plan to show this to him.

It does affect, 2 month ago I made a repayment that was meant to keep my account under 25%, but the repayment didnt hit my card within the given SLA.

It dropped my score by 17 points

I know there's a lot of options but here are some factors to consider:
- 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
- Safe family oriented area
- 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom ideally (new build preferably)
- willingness to travel approx. 1hr to work. (2hrs to/fro)

Some areas being considered;
- Reading (benefiting from new Elizabeth line)
- Maidenhead
- St Neots
- Luton
- Watford etc.

I have already done some research but looking for more "qualitative" inputs based on personal experience.

@ugoonuoha There are a lot of new builds around the strood/rochester/chatham area of Kent going for around 1k - 1k4 (2bed). The commute time is between 37 -45 mins to central london.
