He is a deep-lying striker in the sense that he tends to drop deep to receive the ball, link up play and thread intelligent passes to his strike partner(Rooney) but Rooney does not have the discipline to stay in the box like Eduardo, Ruud, Inzaghi, Owen, Drogba and Etoo.

This is exactly what I have been trying to explain to my peoples on this forum since like big bang . . .
- In my own frame of reference and definition of terms, a striker is a goal getter ala Inzaghi, Eduardo (they live to score goals and nothing more really)

If we are talking about YOUR OWN FRAME, then i cannot disagree with you.

- Based on my frame of reference, Berbatov is not striker, instead he is an attacking midfielder who has been fortunate enough to score a lot of goals in his career.

The reason for my statement is that when you study Berbatov's game you notice that his natural game is actually in playmaking and creating chances . . .even under pressure. That is why i think Fergie made a mistake in buying him as a striker. . . he is better of in the hole behind the strikers . . . ala Kanu's style.

That is where we play him but Rooney wants to do Berbatov's job and his own job together.
Rooney in the attack is like Gerrard in the midfield. They lack positional sense.
Grossly indisciplined positionally and you can never trust them to stay where the manager wants em to be.
Fergie and Capello don talk tire that Rooney should be more selfish but the dude is untrainable.

I don't believe that even I and Sauron would be able to see things very clearly . . .

Na wa for you and dis your continuous support of berbatov. Yes he is classy and all but we paid 30 milla not for his touches but to put the ball in the net. When do u reckon he is going to start justifying that price tag?
Rooney can't do it all on his own so we need to find that solution. I don't think owen is the solution either.
Berba might be but he needs to play more.

Berbatov has been our best striker up until the game against Blackburn.
Rooney might be getting all the goals but without the intelligent link up play and crisp passes, he would be nowhere near the goal.
We paid £30 million to improve our ball retention in the final third. . . . .not for Berbatov to come here and start scoring 40 goals for us.
