I don't know why some people are surprised at the outcome of this result. The German success story is related basically to two reasons:

- the ability to instil self confidence(Selbständigkeit) in people wearing their national colours(this why players like Klose and Podolski -who both had wretched seasons at their clubsides are suddenly lethal in German colours!!)

The Kaizer(Beckenbauer) makes sure you don't forget their World cup tradition as a German player( and what a great tradition they've got!! )

That is the KEY factor.

Nigerian youths are no longer interested in football again.

Back in the 90s, the quickest way to get abroad then or make money was playing footie and emulating the likes of Etim Esin, Keshi, Onwubokiris, etc.
Nigerian lads who couldn't go to school took their football seriously and the passion to succeed was there.

These days, Ibime knows he can get on the internet and scam oyibo peops and make money. Why risk your limbs playing football when you can make $$$$ on the internet without breaking sweats.

I doubt Nigeria can have the wealth of talents the country had in the 90s ever again.

What does JT know about football.
England won 9 out of 10 WCQ games playing 4-2-3-1.
They destroyed Croatia Home/Away deploying the 4-2-3-1 playing some smart attacking football.

4-4-2 is a disaster waiting to happen.
It's obsolete and no decent football club trust the formation anymore.

I don't think the bold part of your post is correct, capello just wanted to satisfy two very hard working player (Gerald and Lampard) and just couldn't get a way of playing both of them in areas of the field where they could be more useful.

Gerrard and Lampard produce a negative SYNERGY.
Capello should know better. . . . . . .The 2 of them like to outdo each other at the detriment of the team's general performance.

In Chelsea, Makelele & Essien & Obi Mikel do the cleaning up for Lampard.
In Liverpool, Mascherano & Alonso and Lucas do the cleaning up for Gerrard

People think Dunga is being naive when he plays 4-2-3-1. Football has gotten too fast and too advance for 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

Except you have exceptionally good players you can't pull off a 4-4-2 these days and England players are not exceptional against this german side no matter what anybody thinks of Rooney, Gerrard or Lampard.

Ghana Vs USA was a trimph of 4-2-3-1 over 4-4-2.

Germany Vs England is another triumph of 4-2-3-1 over 4-4-2.

only teams like Spain will get anywhere with 4-4-2 in this world cup. But they will come short if they meet Brazil because they will they will simply not be able to play through Philipe Melo and Gilberto Silva in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Mourinho has also used 4-2-3-1 to outclass Barcelona. I don't know why people wont learn.

Either Carrick or Barry is simply not good enough to play defensive midfield on their own. But as a pair they do a decent job. At least you always have the other willing to sit back for the other to go forward.

But when you have Lampard or Gerrard pairing Barry. These are players who think they have the devine right to go forward and even when Barry is upfield you see them overlapping.

Watch most of the time this was the case when Barry overlapped and this was simply why it was easy to play through the England midfield.
