@Frankiriri
How can i argue with one of the Guru :-)
I totally accept that the Fundamentals are needed - Primarily Financials as well as others like economic situation, political and even technology used - not neglecting Porter's five forces (Buyers, Suppliers, rivals/competition etc) for the potential success of the company. - This is why i say better "calculated risk." (And cited an example of Transcorp vs Dangote Sugar).

I was only citing that reputation of CEO also goes a long way to the success of the company - and Dangote holds a good reputation with better potentials than anyone else to turn the company around, as you already said yourself, one is leveraging on existing Supply Channel, and that alone is a big area to get into the market.

Once again all hail Guru FrankIriri ;-)

Seun - more grease to your elbow, I think you have quite enough hits, with web2.0 your wings would definitely grow.
Abeg, remember us, and let us be the first to be a part of your success by being the first to invest- as we are the ones telling others about your work here.

But, start thinking about building a reputable team - it would be important to your success as well.
Techie guys quite often have failed venture - not because of a poor product or ideas, but lack of entrepreneur spirit and a good team. Read up on successful entrepreneurs as well, you could get ideas.

Entrepreneurship is my area, but, i am a techie as well in wireless telecommunication sector - now i have a good balance of business and tech, after my MBA. If you can do a quick MBA on the side, that would go a long way for you.

Definitely, i can help you promote as well in the States, Good luck, and you are doing agood job already.

regards,
Lanre

Oga Frankiriri, I agree with your comments on the fundamentals.
But, you yourself would have to concede that the repuatation of the CEO goes a long way to making it a valuable stock.
Look at Steve Jobs (Apple) - the products are not necessarily the case - efficient marketing understanding the atmosphere, and good reputation goes a long way to have the market follow you like Mumu/mugu, See the iPhone debut, stock flew from $85 to $95 in a day, when other manufacturers also have a very competitive product.
If i can get my hands on Nascon as well, it would not be a bad idea - all stocks are really a gamble, you never know what can happen tomorrow. But, some are better calculated risk than the other, like comparing Dangote Sugar IPO to Transcorps,

Haba Seun - the guy posted the name of the author and date, What copyright violation could he have committed now.

Abeg, LondonCool - put the link for Oga Seun - news like this are encouraging, i was pained as i could not get funds to Nigeria on time to buy the shares, i would have really been laughing along with Ahlaji Dangote now. One time opportunity and i couldn't find a quick way of getting money home. Stingy me, should have used Western union - and i would still be laughing.

BTW - If the guy makes it into the Forbes list, that would be a major eye opener for investors in America as well. It might even shoot the price higher, but @40.44 that price still looks high - anyone, what do you think?

Gurus - what is the gist on DEAP IPO?
Briefly browsed through the prospectus - does anyone know why they had a huge loss in 2005?
Their projections look good - but can they deliver?
Whatabout affiliations with this other companies like DVCF - how does that add to the picture?

Cheers

@ Frankiri

Oga Frank & Other gurus - what are your impressions about Afrinvest - i am based abroad, and still looking for a reputable stockbroker,  that would have a good capability and support for international traders.
I haven't open an account yet, and already noticed that response time is slow - but, when they do respond - they show great professionalism.

Thanks for your input.
FashionRe: Lose Your Virginity To Be A Top Model? by SavvyLanre: 10:08pm On Feb 25, 2007
@Cynthia

I know it is tough with the situation in Naija - and you having a potential career in front of you. The only simple advise i can give you is to PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD.
One, it is not worth it and the uncertainity is very high - and secondly, God can make you a better deal if you trust in him.

Thanks Bioye, your comment is good. I heard of Afrinvest by recommendation and that came with some good reputation,
On the otherside, cashcraft website is very good, but did not receive that much praise.

I was just wondering why the charge for verification, most especially, if they would be charging you on selling it in the future?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 8:20pm On Jan 19, 2007
Guys,
What are your recommendations about Afrinvest (Previously known as Sectrust),
They Charge N1000 for share verification, and the fees are kind of similar to Contertrust, but the minimum is N500k outside, any protfolio you might already have,

what do you think?
CareerRe: My New Boss Was My Junior in Secondary School by SavvyLanre: 6:25pm On Jan 06, 2007
Buddy,
This is the way business goes now - and more of this to happen,

As the last blogger commented, he had to work for a white bloke with less qualification.
In my situation, i earn more than my boss - and probably one of the youngest in the team, with more years of experience - but less qualification in terms of Degrees, but with professional qualification,  I work in the Tech arena.

I would personally say - sharpen up your people skills and look for a leverage with your boss - before you know it, he would be the one recommending you for a promotion.
