On reading Flakky post on the Insurance & Bank - one thing that came to mind is Synergy - Bundling of services,

You can get life insurance, from your bank, and also get car insurance from the same bank - and even mortgage insurance - whatever you can think of,
Who as a better access to your net-worth, or credit history in Nigeria, other than your primary bank.

I think the sky is the limit for those banks, who also have a presence in the Insurance industry, just look at the West for an example of how they bundle all this services together.

In recent time, na Wasky Waja i like pass - the guy got me seriously thinking. 40M - "Oga come see moni" (This was actually a phrase borrowed from an arm robber, that saw big dough for the first time in his life, and called on the Chief Arm robber,  Oga, Oga come see moni, )

Anyway, back to Serious matter, from now on - we should simply ignore, message that does not fall in line with the respect we have for one another on this thread,  Chikena.

Massachusetts presented the first black governor, which happens to be a democrat for the first time last year. Against a white woman republican (which would have been first lady governor, if she won), Mass was fed up of republican rule and wanted a change,

Change can still happen - And "Yes we can" vote and hope for a change.

And, back to NSE

Salvage: Hello guys,

Savvylanre, easimoni, invisible, pumping, aktopgun and all others ,

Please does anyone have any info on Afprint? How are they doing? I am thinking of buying based on its current price.

Is there somewhere I can read up on them . Please I need to know if its good for the very short term.

Thanks
Sorry, can't help you on Afprint - i do not do penny stocks without good fundamentals,  But, if you have heard any good rumour on good growth potentials in the near future - then you can join the hype - but know when to get out,
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 2:28am On Feb 09, 2008
Ioma: Are you saying its not a CICO stock for about 25% returns?
NSE is crazy, so nothing might stop a 25% run, but recent analysis does not show a 25% CICO - but we are in a bull run, If the dead bone of Transcorp can rise, then i see no reason why Nascon cannot rise.

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 6:41pm On Feb 08, 2008
My 2 cent tip in an email to a friend about Nascon on Monday - before the bull,

Nascon, there are really three sides to that shares
1) the hopeful and longtermers
2) the shortermers/ bigpockets - aka Circle in circle out traders - currently making gains on the 10% up and down movement.
3) and the cutting losses folks

honestly speaking, the fundamentals of nascon is whack and all the folks in the 3 categories that are active traders are waiting for EOY report to decide the faith of that stock. And, i am guessing that Mr Dangote is not the disappointing type for investors.

if you are looking for my advice, if you find any stock that can give you the return of your loss,  Then cut out,  Otherwise join the hopefuls/longtermers

Anyone with the current exchange rate for Dollars to Naira?
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 4:21pm On Feb 06, 2008
Yodi - hmm - we shall see, i get legs for both - and still picking up at the right price. I even accepted the UBA shares that my broker wrongly bought at N50, That is to show how much i believe,

Risky, Yodi, Fof2, Wanaj0 - this one that all you have spoken, i think there would be blood on the dance floor for insurance coys this Thursday/Friday.
The one that stands, might be some of the ones to watch out for,
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 4:08pm On Feb 06, 2008

InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 3:02pm On Feb 06, 2008
@ Fof2 - Thanks for confirming what i am seeing about the insurance coy, i go join you do arm robber, with one leg in, I don get some advice from Madam Windy too.

@Oga Pumping - this one wey you decline to pilot Zenith, i go do the piloting myself - Anyone onboard, this is the right time to pickup some more from the floor today - i no go talk more than that.

@Emmachile - na true Oga Wanaj0 talk about FBN, na the donkey wey we go ride enter jerusalem be that o,
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 8:48pm On Feb 05, 2008
Fof2 - When do you think the bull run on the Insurance coy would end temporarily? Currently, for all the coys - the fundamentals is way too high, and for many of them they would need to triple or quadriple their earnings to meet the current value of those stocks.

This is just one way of projecting PAT and it is linear and not necessarily accurate. What if I use the growth rate from last year or weighted average per quarter or the projection from the prospectus? grin grin grin
na show off be that one, Anyway, linear is conservative enough for me,

pumping777:
Well I bow for you if you say only Zenith and First Bank are on the same level but you were comparing Guaranty with Zenith? grin
Ok - you got me on that one :-) But back to the Ko-Ko of the gist

pumping777: Anyway, I don't know how you have done your own classification. Maybe Zenith and First Bank are Zero tier banks.
As far as I am concerned, UBA, UBN, FBN, Oceanic and Zenith remain close competitors in every way.  Capitalization, Balance Sheet, PAT, Shareholders funds, Turnover, Depositors funds etc. We know our big banks. This is not a matter of corporate governance now. What makes Zenith bigger than Oceanic or UBA?
Leave that one now, na Savvylanre classification be that one.

pumping777: Intercontinental? So you want to compare this with UBA for now? Capitalization of N760B but only N24B projected as PAT? What kind of return is that? UBA with capitalization of N570B is likely to deliver a PAT close to N40B.

To me Intercontinental is not yet in this category and even if it is, there can always be exceptions.
Exactly, what i do not understand with Intercont and its current price, based on that, that is why i think Zenith go reach N58 in middle term and N52 on short term based on its premium and the zoom-zoom after TS.

BTW - with regards to FBN projection - (25,922 * 4/3 for full year)
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by SavvyLanre: 4:50pm On Feb 04, 2008
pumping777:
N52 is still within the range I am predicting. What I am saying it that it will not stay there.

We should compare Zenith to all its peers.  Zenith(24) actually has higher forward PE than UBA (15), UBN(18), Oceanic (17) and First Bank(22).

Agreed that Zenith usually maintains a premium but I don't see it maintaning a PE of around 27 when other contemporary stocks will have much lower forward PEs. One of the problems remains the high nominal price.

I will guess another 5% for Zenith tomorrow, then we will start to see some resistance. If not, all the better though.

If you look at all the banks maintaining a high PE in banking, the prices are below N30. It is the stocks that have prices above N40 that have lower PEs except Oceanic that is being weighed down by 22B big ones.
Aba Oga Pumping - if you are comparing to all its peers, you well know that the only thing keeping UBA and Oceanic at current level is due to EOY in sept. Moreover, from where i seat - na only First Bank and Zenith dey same level.
And, i don't know where you got the current/Forward PE of First Bank but it is 33.3/24.6 based on latest Q3 reports.
And, if we are looking at the banks in the N40 range - what would you say about Intercon at 32.5/31.7 based on Q3 results

BTW - I am learning from you o,

pumping777:
As it was predicted the movement of the Elephant on Friday na demo. Even with the closing net bid, it could not continue with the momentum today.

It will be interesting to see what Zenith will bring to this segment now it is out of TS. I still think it will hit resistance around N50 when high volume profit takers try to lock in profit.

Folks are beginning to consider 5-10% margins in short term trades acceptable before the erasure of spreadsheet money.
Oga Pumping - Concerning, Zenith - if you look at the current & Forward PE of Intercon, Firstbank and Guaranty, and use that as a benchmark for Zenith, that boy would reach N58. But, because EOY is not till June, then i see its first turbulence at N52. Knowing that Zenith would deliver on good results.
