How do you negotiate for that in a welfare state like Nigeria when there is no one in the first six from your ethnic group?

Do you now see OBJ's point?
no need to negotiate anything if the govs privatise alot of thing so it will be. we just need GEJ to be president and mind the country not worry about the SW like Obj did.

Obj had his nose too much in the SW imagine a whole president battle with a state Govenor like tinubu.

Rails linking the SW, An extensive power project that supplies us and another Port in Ondo State.

At that point they cant shove the Senate president or speaker anywhere they choose
hehehe lmfao

Mimiko, Aregbesola, Fayemi meet on common strategy

The governor, who said he grew up in Ikare-Akoko in Ondo State, noted, “We should work towards integrating the policies and politics of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and continue from where the late sage’s policies that made the South-West the leading light among other regions in the country stopped.”

Mimiko congratulated the two visiting governors on their victories at the courts, and stressed the urgent need for regional integration to be coordinated by them for the benefit of the people of the South-West.

Mimiko said the governors would work on a zonal rail-line and zonal power plant that would guarantee the economic development of the people.

He said, “We must think of economic collaborative effort. We must have a Yoruba rail-line, generate electricity and create markets for investors. We must resume the path to development.”
punch-

this is funny as hell

At this point, GEJ might be desperate to get votes from the SW and anything can be pushed.

E.g Juicy posts, Increased FG projects anything at this point, GEJ is desperate.

Or they might tell ACN not to step down for CPC regardless of the circumstance in returns for favours
I doubt ACN is going to step down for CPC ANYWAY so its like win win situation.
PoliticsRe: Pdp Dangles Unity Govt Carrot Before Rivals by sbeezy8: 5:08am On Apr 12, 2011
ive never looked at a map where the SW WAS IN A BAD POSITION.

the past PDP govs never took advatange of the position SW is in.
koruji:
Eventually, Nigeria has to make the center unattractive since this country is at least 3 nations forced to live together uncomfortably. A center that is strong in national security, but let the states take most of the other initiatives is all we need.

Look at what Lagos did for itself. If the center of Nigerian power won't fulfill its obligations to the SW, then we will go get the center of global power behind our development efforts. How about that?
SW with Lagos and Ibadan should be at the top - terrible governance has stopped growth. Imagin rail lines passed through all major SW cities before but not now and initiative was just started again by Fashola mimiko Aregbe and Fayemi.

man that dont mean nada I read Bayelsa and Akwa ibom highest rates of unemplyment in naija

despite oil wealth.

fstranger3:
I agree.

Oh well! so producing the speaker would be difficult as well.

Did we not just shoot ourselves in foot?
if we just shot ourselves in the foot than we blew our brains out by having Obj as president and Bankol/etteh as speake.

as far as im concerned I dont care whos first second thrid or forth wont last forever.

One can still step down for another. If Ribadu steps down for Buhari, CPC wins (at least, in my opinion). Vice versa might also be a win. Yoruba+Hausa is at least 40-45% of Nigeria's population. If you have those two blocks mostly behind you, you should win.
no one is steping down for anyone.

What are you talking about now?

Isn't it GEJ's manifesto to open up the Nigerian economy. Government doesn't need to develop jack. They need to fulfill their responsibilities in infrastructure, appropriate regulation and get the heck out of the way.

Who do you think buys this kind of bull anyway!!!
^^^^ lol abi o "Lagos in particular" lol

GEJ just needs to stay president and do his jobs not do anything in any "particular state"

ekt_bear:
Fair enough. I understand your perspective. If OBJ and these military boys GEJ associates with were dead, I'd not mind cutting the deal. But perhaps you are right.

Anyway, if Tinubu rejects the deal, he had BETTER cut a deal with the CPC and destroy the PDP next week. If we want to battle, then no half-measures.
ACN doesnt need to do that. they are in a nice position. ACN just need to stick to its guns the only deal that GEJ should cut with ACN is the promise that ACN will not join CPC. thats the best and of course senate president for ACN member.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan In Secret Meeting With Tinubu, Others by sbeezy8: 4:38am On Apr 12, 2011
^^^^ if anything ACN senator should get senate president.
only deal that makes sense

even at that I dont see ACN endorsing GEJ, the only thing ACN can do to help GEJ is not align with CPC- which i doubt ACN was going to do anyway.

Why are we worried about other regions when they don't even seem worried for themselves? If they will not fight and build a legitimate democracy, why should we do it for them?

And I meant infrastructure projects by saying that $5 billion a year, btw.
im saying if the rest of the country want unity government no federalism etc then SW should stick to opposition this GEJ cannnot ride that unity train forever. his own people will regret him after if therr no federalism

disunity is always going to happen between north se and ss nc - when there is no dumb yoruba person mediating say let that ish play out.

PoliticsRe: Pdp Dangles Unity Govt Carrot Before Rivals by sbeezy8: 4:27am On Apr 12, 2011
^^^ SW doesnt want federal projects we want PRIVATE ONES.

the only Federal thing they need to fix is federal high ways that lead to the niger delta and north.
PoliticsRe: Pdp Dangles Unity Govt Carrot Before Rivals by sbeezy8: 4:24am On Apr 12, 2011
why must it always be unity in this country at all cost i mean no federalism?

ekt_bear:
@fstranger: Suppose the offer is $5 billion/year worth of federal projects in the SW and an overturning of the likely rigged elections in Kwara. And suppose you believe that the PDP would not renege. Wold you say no to that deal?
im not frstranger but hell no- SW dont need any surplus in federal stuvs government should do what is suppose to do for all regions.
no deals

Federal government just needs to take hands off SW. so SW can get focused and back to the basics.

PoliticsRe: Jonathan In Secret Meeting With Tinubu, Others by sbeezy8: 3:27am On Apr 12, 2011
lol

since when did meeting with ACN become a big deal? o my bad after the election huh lol grin

but really though ACN and PDP two different parties I dont expect anything to come out of it. it is what it is.

If anything i didnt expect ACN to win that much  thought PDP will still remain but this should be a worry for GEJ camp SW people might ride to ACN train all the way.

ekt_bear:
Article says nothing about Tinubu and GEJ actually meeting, does it. . .?

Anyway, I don't mind Tinubu cutting a deal. But he'd better get substantial value.
i dont think anyone should cut any deal.
