PoliticsRe: Intrigues - Bababangida, The Cabal, CPC, Ribadu And The South West by sbeezy8: 3:34pm On Apr 01, 2011
hahah poster get imagination shaaaa lol

I dont see any reason why ACN would go into alliance or absorb CPC. ACN is the only opposition in Nigeria on the state level.

as far as I know SW people dont plan on voting massively for GEJ, RIbadu, or Buhari.

I dont even think most care. this by far the lamest election. All of the candidates are terrible.

The military men in the West were not supposed to be big enough to stop the West if you guys really wanted to go. If the capital was in the East, those Northern military officers would have been made to leave bare handed. The West simply dint want to go, and I that is what determined the fate of Igbos. There were military mavericks like OBJ and Adekunle who turned perter pans in the ill armed East. I guess they were scared to fight the North off? The answer is that the West dint want to secede. It is their choice, so no offence. However, my point is that if they had really wanted to secede, Nigeria would have split jeje.

Enough with the civil war stuff. I and majority of my Igbo brothers care less about oil and more about commerce. I'd prefer that we discover purposeful and pro-developmental leadership than oil in Igboland. Without oil and with purposeful leadership, a country that doesn't have oil can control the oil resources of other countries e.g. Singapore refines oil even though they don't have a single natural resource.

The east Knows that, I wonder why they keep asking the same questions?

When did the EAST EVER CARE ABOUT THE WEST HAVING GENERALS OR SOMETYPE OF ARMY BEFORE THE WAR?

THERE WAS NO ZONING OR QUOTA on military positions even for minorities.

Nigeria finds oil and gas in commercial quantities in Anambra

12-08-03 About 30 tcf of gas and 1 bn barrels of crude oil has been found in the Anambra River basin in Anambra State, the Director of Engineering standard in the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr Patrick Onwumere, said in Awka.
Mr Onwumere who led a team of experts to assess the volume of gas and crude reserves in the Anambra River basin as well as gauge the preparedness of the state government in the establishment of an indigenous refinery through its oil company, Orient Petroleum Resources, said the team was impressed with what it saw on the ground.

His revelation was coming on the heels of a confirmation by the Managing Director of Orient Petroleum, Engr. Nnaemeka Nwawka that a large hectare of land for the construction of the refinery which would be sited at Otuocha in Anambra East Local Government area of the state had been mapped out. Nwawka added that the only thing delaying full acquisition of the land is the state governor's signature on the certificate of occupancy (CoO) for the land.
According to Onwumene, his team's visit was a preliminary move which has to do with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the area, the level of land acquisition promised by the governor, and the examination of the extent of work done so far by the Orient Petroleum Resources.

Onwumene also said he and members of his team were interested in seeing that the exploitation of oil and gas takes off earnestly in the state and expressed his team's satisfaction on the state's preparedness to accomplish their exploitation. He said Anambra State had three sources of oil supply which included, the existing local reserve from the Brass/Agip, import from Venezuela as well as the already discovered wells at Oroma-Etiti in Anambra West and Otuocha in Anambra East council areas of the state.
Onwumene said his team found that the state's oil company, Orient Petroleum Resources had maintained good relationships with the host communities, especially those bordering where the refinery would be sited. He added that with the take off of exploitation of oil reserves in the very near future, a lot of jobless indigenes of Anambra State would be gainfully employed.

thi is the most silly thing ever LOL you post something on anambra on a thread about the SW? are you really that bored?

Justcash:
So If the west had decided to go too, you think the north would have had any chance? You were scared because the North could have defeated both the East and West? I don't think so. Nigeria would have split gently if the west had kept to their words to leave too. After all the capital was Lagos State at that time.
^^^ Mumu we've been over this time and time AGAIN. NO ONE GIVES A FUK about the last civil war!

we didnt join the East when IT SUITED TO THE EAST. when Awo wanted to leave Zik and the NCNC joined the North, WHY WOULD WE THE WEST WANT TO JOIN YOU FOR ANYTHING? lol

it doesnt work like that homie

ekt_bear:
Neither you or I had armies at that time (watch those videos on the Biafra war that EzeUche posted, where you guys had only 200 guns in the entire East  undecided )

Moreover, you didn't have lots of Northern troops at that time in your region. . . we did. Pretty hard to secede with an army of occupation already in your land, and no army.

Or how would you have suggest it be done? I'm all ears.
why pay that clown any attention it was planned that way When Zik chose to side with Balewa. north. They didnt care if The west had an army before the War.

Unemployment uppermost in oil-rich region – NESG

Abuja – Unemployment is highest in the oil-producing region of the country, Mr Emmanuel Ijewere, Chairman of the Agric and Food Security Commission of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, said in Abuja on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said that Bayelsa had the highest unemployment rate of 37 per cent of its population, while Rivers and Akwa Ibom had 32 per cent and 36 per cent, respectively.

“If you look at the various areas where unemployment is high, you will discover that they are the oil-producing areas.

“But worse still is the fact that even those areas that have low unemployment, it is not that the people are richer. It’s because the people have more initiatives and doing things for themselves.

“Many of them are selling recharge cards, many of them are ridding Okada (commercial motorcycles), but that does not bring them to the level that you think is the right economic level they should attain, but they are still doing things for themselves.

“The unemployment in Nigeria needs to be tackled from the reality we have on ground. Bayelsa has the worst number of unemployed and it is one of the biggest oil states in Nigeria, 38.4 per cent unemployed young men and women.

“The best is Plateau 7.1 per cent and you have a number of them. Akwa-Ibom, with all its oil 34 per cent unemployed, then you have a place like Kaduna State, 11.6 per cent.

“These are the issues. You’ll discover that the more easy life you have, the more unemployment you have, and that oil, which is creating the so-called easy life, will dry up one day.’’

The statistics was the outcome of a research on unemployment rate in Nigeria BGL Financial Monitor.

Ijewere said that poverty cut across people in the affected areas because adults did not have access to and control of credit facilities, education and had limited economic opportunities.

Other disadvantages besetting the region, he said, were rooted in social and political inequalities.

According to ijewere, governments of states in the oil-producing region are not impacting well on the lives of the citizenry in spite of the huge statutory revenue allocations to them.

He said that with the figures released by BGL Financial Monitor, it could be established that oil was a detriment.

He said a robust action was required now to urgently address the many factors and this could be achieved by strengthening the capabilities of the rural people to take advantage of mechanised farming.

Ijiwere said since there was global emphasis on agriculture, the affected states should focus attention on it, stressing that development assistance in the sector represented the avenue through which lives and welfare of a large proportion of citizens could be touched, most quickly and massively.

He noted that in doing this, agriculture had to become less-risky for the smallholder farmer and had to be more sustainable and more productive.

He said that urban agriculture had been found to provide employment; increased incomes and contributed to food and social security, but in spite of its important role and the potential, it still faced various difficulties.

Ijewere said that education and skills acquisition were also important because they would empower rural youths and adults to access good employment. (NAN)

I agree.

25% of votes in 24 states--most likely GEJ, given the better structure across the states,
overall highest number--likely Buhari

next step: run off.

I know it's unlikely now, but was still hoping on some kind of alliance between them. That I believe would be the only way to get an outright victory in the first round, i.e combination of overal highest votes plus the 25%.

Where did you get that thinking fromhuh Pentecostal voters are Buhari's number one problem in the south west!! Bakare made the biggest mistake 2 years ago when he came on the press and lambasted Adeboye, Kumuyi and Oyedepo. Most pentecostal Christians I've talked to are of the opinion that Bakare is a traitor and is against the church!!

Team BB's only hope in Lagos is the Hausa community. Sadly, majority of them didn't register to vote for fear of arrest as they are not Nigerians- they come from Chad, Niger, Mali, etc!!
what do you mean Pentecostal voters? what of Catholics. Anglicans and Ifa orisha worshippers?
