Hey dude get your fact rights before making such nonsensical comment. The bamileke are in the west region and it was never part of southern cameroon so I don't know what you are talking about. Furthermore the rigged referendum was the one who took place in then northern Cameroon in order to prop up the Muslim or northern population in Nigeria .

The then southern cameroon heavily rejected Nigeria, blaming Igbo marginalization and this is well recorded. Nothing against biafra struggle, I just don't like when history is being distorted.
They twist every history out there to suit their agenda.
It was a well known fact that Southern Cameroons rejected union with Nigeria.
Ad even if they had voted for Union with Nigeria, they would not have been a part of the defunct Nigerian Eastern region, because the Southern Cameroons were administered as a different unit of the Nigerian federation.

As at the time, we had Northern Nigeria, Western Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria and the Southern Cameroons.

Pfffft.....

Here is a detailed map of Nigeria's fields.

BTW, Most of nigeria's oil production come from deep offshore fields like Aje, Bonga 1 & 2, Oyo, Erha, Agbami 1 & 2 Etc.
As a matter of fact, Akwa Ibom hardly produces any oil onshore, yet it is one of the biggest oil producers in the country.

if ur land is heaven on earth, why are the south easterners trying to secede?
To cart away the nation's hydro carbon resources.
Nnamdi Kanu himself said anything Igbo or related is 'cursed'.....
The reality is that without Niger Delta, there is no Biafra. The biafra apologists themselves know it.

We would all be pleased to see a republic of "Igboland" though.

The question should have been, if the Southwest is really a wasteland, why are the Southeast, landgrabbers and chest-beaters trooping in everyday?
The last time I asked this question, a flatron answered me and said 'to expand business"
And I was like..... Who goes to a poverty infested wasteland to expand business?

Lo and behold.... at that moment, the head became even flatter.

Typical delusion of grandeur. cheesy Newsflash: The only thing you all dominate at is the art of noisemaking, especially here on NL. cheesy. In spite of your delusion, SW internet penetration is far ahead of the SE's (http://thenet.ng/2014/03/lagos-ibadan-and-kano-among-most-active-african-cities-on-twitter/), so much so that Smile 4G network, a South Africa owned and Igbo-managed internet ISP chose to launch its operations in in West-Africa/Nigeria at Ibadan instead of Enugu or Onitsha -- https://www.nairaland.com/1288759/smile-launches-ibadan-new-4g (I wonder why? cheesy). While we are busy building viable industries, educational institutions of repute, and increasing our economies of scale (in short making our region ever more competitive and robust relative to other places in Africa), you all are still migrating en-masses out of your region and would rather stick to trading in fake imports -- imagine if the govt choses to place an embargo on your imports (both land and sea) I wonder what will become of you all, considering that you all are landlocked and depend on other regional borders even in the extreme case of smuggling your goods into the country. Your seeming 'domination' the transport sector was born out of necessity as a result of your people's migrant/nomadic nature since you all migrate out of your region than any other group in the country and therefore have to transport your migrants to and from your region at all times -- which is a further testmament to the fact that there simply aren't enough opportunities in Igboland to accomodate y'all, hence the need to depend on other regions for economic survival. Na only for una mind una dey 'dominate' anything. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/rivers-state-others-have-overtaken-s-east-in-commerce-industry/ cheesy

astrodome:
At the risk of sounding tribal, I would say that while it seems that Igbos, whether in the SE or based outside of the SE, have been able to devise a means to control their population, the other majority ethnic groups have not yet figured out how to do so. Religion and culture have been tools deployed to increase population in the North and South West, and with that have come continued or increasing poverty, especially in the North.

I understand that in Nigeria population determines how much money you get from the national purse, but such money have never been used to take care of the corresponding population of the receiving state or region; they have mostly been embezzled.

The Chinese, Japanese, Europeans and white America that have taken steps to reduce their population growth are not foolish. Igbos have learned from them, such that whereas our parents had 6 to 10 children a few decades ago, we the young ones, aged 40 years and below, now have an average of 3 kids per family. We may lose in the population-based sharing of the wealth in Nigeria, but with the continued dwindling of oil money we are going to be better off, being able to manage (educate and give a good living standard) our small families with the resources at our disposal.

I will not be surprised that if a clean and unbiased tribal-based census is conducted today, the Igbo population would be far lower than that of the Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba. This is because the Hausa-Fulani (90% muslim) and Yoruba (50%-60% muslim) societies still permit the marrying of multiple wives and, hence, giving birth to multiple children, and are less well travelled (traveling also contributes to reducing the population of an area) than their Igbo compatriots.
yes you sounded tribal, becauses according to the NPS, birth rates in the SE and SW are relatively the same, with it being slghtly higher in the SE.
SS is highest in South.

Ibadan, even before Nigerian independence was already a Metropolis.

But I am not at all saddened that Ibadan lost Its prominence to Lagos, another bonafide Yoruba city.
It remains in the Western region. And for the foreseeable future, no other West African city will even come close.
