I think. A lot. Sometimes aloud (well...mumble). And I tend to pace while doing so. A person walking in on me would wrongly assume I was talking to myself. About 14 months after he was controversially impeached by the 5th session of the State House of Assembly for alleged gross misconduct, relief came the way of former Deputy Governor of Enugu state, Sunday Onyebuchi on Friday as an Enugu High Court presided over by Justice R. O. Odugu quashed the impeachment.


The court, in the judgment that lasted for over an hour, also ordered the restoration of all the rights and benefits of the former deputy governor from the time of his removal up to May 29, 2015 when the his tenure constitutionally elapsed.

In a swift reaction, Onyebuchi who was in court with his wife, Nneka expressed appreciation to the judiciary for once again dispensing justice without fear or favor, noting that he had been vindicated by the judgment, while declaring that he had ling forgiven his adversaries.
It could be recalled that Onyebuchi was impeached on August 26, last year by the immediate past State House of Assembly led by Speaker Eugene Odoh following the recommendation of the seven-man impeachment panel set up by the state Chief Judge, Justice Innocent Umezulike, which investigated allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him by then Governor Sullivan Chime.
His impeachment from office led to the appointment of Rev Ifeanyi Nwoye, who served as deputy governor from August last year to May 29, this year.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has filed criminal charges against MTN Nigeria Communication and its Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Ferdi Moolman, over alleged copyright infringement.

The charge with number ABJ/CR/379/2015 filed in the Federal High Court, Abuja was obtained by newsmen on Friday.

In the two-count-charge signed by NCC Prosecutor and Copyright Inspector, Marypauline Olere-Luma; MTN and Moolman were alleged to have infringed on copies of the musical work of an Abuja based musician, Dovie Omenuwoma-Eniwo (aka Baba 2010).

Specifically, the defendants were alleged to have “distribute, sell or let for hire or for the purposes of trade or business, expose or offer for sale 3009 infringing copies of the musical work’’ of Baba 2010.

The musical works allegedly infringed upon by the defendants included; “Omotena, Gentleman, Christian and unity song’’ by the musician.

The offences, according to the charge, are contrary to and punishable under Section 20 (2)(a) and 20 (2)(b) of the Copyright Act, Cap C28 Laws of the Federation 2004.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the case.
