PoliticsRe: High Profile Nigerians Registered Twice – Jega ! by scribe(m): 1:56pm On Mar 03, 2011
Where I registered, some people were made to undergo the same exercise twice because the electoral officer were unable to save the data after they have finished capturing the people data. In such situation, I won't be surprised if it shows up as double registration whereas it was the hardware that led to it.
Nonetheless, i think we are making progress irrespective of how slow it is.
PoliticsRe: House Passes Freedom Of Information Bill by scribe(m): 9:46am On Feb 25, 2011
Let's not be pessimistic. Something good can come out of Nigeria. You never, can tell, the bill can become law before this year runs out. God is definitely hearing the cry of the masses.
PoliticsRe: Yar'dua's Carrot and Tribunal Verdict by scribe(m): 1:58pm On Feb 26, 2008
Thanks be to the Almighty God that hoodlums will not have an excuse for unleashing mayhem on innocent citizens today. Trust me, if the judgement has been otherwise, so miscreants will simply jump on the street and start molesting innocent passerby in the name of protest.

By the way, I am neither in support of the judgement nor against it. Too many unanswered questions makes the whole case complicated. Also, I do not trust any of the parties to the case  cool
Christianity EtcRe: Lovemaking After Traditional Wedding Only: Is This Fornication? by scribe(m): 1:20pm On Jan 17, 2008
Let the hypocrisy stop! We all know that the bible never outlined how a marriage ceremony should be conducted. But important issues that cannot be brushed aside were given detailed attention.

1. Sex is reserved for married couples (it doesn't matter what your opinion or mine is).

2. Marriage is not just a matter of consent between two. The parents have a role to play.

3. As believers, we are expected to conduct ourselves in such a way as will bring glory to God.

If you agree to the about, then I can give my verdict on the question raised as follows.
Two adults can get married using the traditional ceremony (if nothing is done within the ceremony that is unbiblical - e.g flogging the would-be bridegroom cheesy like we have in some cultures).
Once the parents gives their consent and the would-be couple comes out in the open to declare their intention, they can be joined together as husband and wife. As Christian it is only wise to have a minister do the joining. After they have being declared husband and wife to the society, there is no more restriction.

Wait, before you jump to conclusion, I am not done yet shocked

What we have in Nigeria is quite different. We have a situation whereby couples undergo as much as 3 ceremonies before the society accepts them as being married.
- They go to the registry.
- They conduct traditional wedding.
- They cap it all up with a white/church wedding.

If a couple decides to conduct just any of the above, it will be enough and ok.

However, if a couple decides to do two or more before feeling satisfied that they have fulfill all righteousness, then they must wait until all have been done before they can start having sexual intercourse.

And that is the point. If two people are already having sexual intercourse, why should they lie to the SOCIETY and attempt to lie to God by conducting CHURCH WEDDING?

If you are already having sexual intercourse after your traditional wedding, simply go and ask your pastor to bless the marriage you have already conducted. Don't go about wearing white gown (which originally is meant to signify virginity) and ask a pastor to join you and your spouse (when you have already done so). That will amount to hypocrisy! shocked
Christianity EtcRe: Redeemed Church Opens World's Biggest Auditorium, Costs N7.7b by scribe(m): 11:17am On Dec 12, 2007
I guess the haters will have us sit on the ground. Yet they won't honor any invitation to a gathering if they have a foreknowledge of the fact that the occasion (e.g. a wedding) will be conducted while guests sit on bare floor.

The auditorium which they are criticizing has been an open field for years. The worshipers gathered there in all those years under the harsh weather conditions to worship and none of the hypocrites wagged their tongues.

Now the same worshipers decided to build a covering over their heads and it has become an issue. Thank God the auditorium is not a personal property of Pastor Adeboye, some of the haters would have sent EFCC to RCCG to investigate our tithes and offerings.

Please tell them. Instead of them to pursue all those rogue former governors and government officials that stole the peoples money, they are busy insulting us and an innocent man that has done them no wrong.

If we decided to gather our money and build an auditorium that you consider too expensive, what pain is that to you? If your money is not involved, why complain.

When men refuse to acknowledge God as GOD. He gives them over to a reprobate mind so that they will begin to do things that are unimaginable to a sane man.

PoliticsRe: Yar'adua To Rule For 15 Years? by scribe(m): 9:00am On Sep 06, 2007
If Nigerians are pessimistic, Who is to blame? The politician of course. They blab about how they will make Nigeria better than New York if they come to power. But alas, they cannot deliver in simple basic infrastructures and amenities.
How can someone be talking about planning for 15years when they cannot even successfully plan for 12months.

I beg all of them should stop imagining that the citizens are gullible. We are not.

After 100 days in office, they are yet to lay down a plan on how to solve the problem of electricity. All that OBJ administration achieved in that sector is constant naming ceremony for the inefficient government's electric power authority. N.E.P.A, N.E.P Plc, PHCN very soon we will read about another naming ceremony for the organisation.
Let the Federal Government tell us, what its plan is for the remaining part of 2007. Then they can give us their plan for the year 2008. That is the way it is done in well organized society.

Talking about 2020 while the legislators are busy debating on how much their "speaker" is supposed to use for renovation is simply not convincing.

How can we be talking about 2020 when the ordinary citizens are dying because of deadly pot-holes on our Federal roads. For eight years, the last administration was planning on how they will dualize the Benin - Lagos road. So many lives and goods have been lost and yet, nothing is achieved. Now we are being told of paradise come 2020.

" I beg, let's talk about something much more serious" "Na person wey dey alive go see 2020" " No be person wey in whole family don pafuka say because of in put I pass my neighbour inside room dose off" (Too many Nigerians have died from fumes from generator).

@Felix_Weah
It is very wrong to speak before thinking. Since this is a public forum that serve Nigerians and those that Love Nigerians it is surely the worst place to make the blunder you just did.

@Seun
I thought the forum rule says we will be saved from disgusting insults such as this post. I personally feel offended that this post with its insulting title is allowed to remain as if the admin has gone on vacation. Please kindly re-phrase the title.

@All
If the original poster was aiming at drawing attention, then he should not be allowed to have his way. There was really nothing new or educative in his post. Unfortunately, instead of subsequent posters to focus on this, they got distracted and started debating on other issues.
BusinessRe: Business Tax In Nigeria by scribe(m): 2:20pm On Aug 29, 2007
Yes. But what you pay as tax will depend on how big it is.
If it is the type we call "Mama Put" then you will need to pay only small levies to the local government of the area.
However, if it is well furnished with a distinguished name or registered as a Limited Liability Company, then you will surely require an accountant to educate you on the kind of taxes you will need to pay.
Hope this helps cheesy

Say what you like. Believe what you want. One thing is sure. Nigeria is moving forward. It may not be as fast as we all desire, but we will eventually get there.
Some years back, nobody bothers to ask or insist that our leaders should declare what they are worth. I see a future whereby an ordinary Nigeria will be in a position to query the validity of assets declared by leaders.
Let's just be a little bit patient with the system as new events unfolds. grin

BusinessRe: Lagos Imposes Levy On Generator Owners! by scribe(m): 9:51am On Jun 08, 2007
Another senseless policy to further increase the cost of living. God save Nigeria from insensitive leaders.

Of course it is the poor man on the street that will eventually pay the levy. For sure the manufacturing companies will simply adjust the final cost of their product. At the end of the day, it will be cheaper to buy foreign made goods rather than those made in Nigeria.
I think some of our leaders need to go back to school and learn some basic things in Economics.

I still believe in Miracles. Miracles still happen.
Never mind what people say. If you don't give up, you will surely have a wonderful testimony to tell at the end of the day.

However, you owe it as a duty to inform your fiancee. Ask yourself this question. If I were in her shoes, will I love to be told? If you truly love her, you will tell her the truth now before she discover on her own. Cos having posted this topic, it is no longer a secret. Even if nobody knows you, God can still reveal it to her in a vision or dream. So don't deceive yourself into thinking you can keep her by hiding the truth from her.
Actually, sin prosper in darkness. So let the light shine in. You will be pleasantly surprise what God will do with such sincerity.
