Politics › Re: Obasanjo Supports Malawi Government: Condemns Homosexuality As An 'abomination' by SEFAGO(m): 1:29am On May 27, 2010
Another problem:

1. Fundamental human right is usually determined by Human rights courts
2. This has nothing to do with the US law. You assume that the UN=US

My initial statement is perfectly correct. The UN asserts that consenting adults should have privacy in there homes. Some states might decide not to uphold this, and as Obasanjo pointed out- states do have the right to decide there laws. However these laws violate fundamental human rights set forth by the UN.

Why is it so hard for people to get lol?

Let me help: China by censoring info violates a fundamental human right. However if china decides to criticize Nigeria for censoring- although this is hypocritical- they are perfectly legit- censoring info violates a fundamental human right to free speech.

US does not even violate those human rights- only in severe cases are polygamist arrested and prosecuted. A state does not have to recognize something b4 its a fundamental right. I dont know where you get that idea from gamesmart.

1. Consenting adults should have a right to privacy in their homes. Its a fundamental human right.
Please all of you should go and learn what a fundamental human right is. I never stated its a universal law lol. Google could help you start.

YOUR ARGUMENT IS MOOT  grin grin grin

Gamesmart:
But you are not allowed to express your (so-called) fundamental human rights as you can not formalise it in the eyes of the law? So it is not a fundamental human right then, it is a right you are allowed to have as long as the government decides to ignore/tolerate it?
Errm you dont get it. I have the fundamental right to free speech does not mean I can engage in seditious speech or treasonous speech in a country.

The reason why I cannot defend the Malawi people is because I am sure they were fully aware that their country was homophobic and so knew the repercussion of there actions.

Anyways . . . when you speak of "rights to consenting adults" nothing is hampered in the US. Individual can consent to engage in polygamous relationships, but just because the Government does not endorse it, does not mean that their fundamental right is being impaired or that it is void.

Obasanjo's statement on animals is stupid- when can animals "consent" lol, and see how all of you are agreeing with baba like zombie.
Politics › Re: Attending College In Eastern Nigeria by SEFAGO(m): 1:04am On May 27, 2010
well some ethnic groups congregate to particular crimes though- it does not have to do with their ethnic group as much as exposure. Its rare to find Hausa people committing any credit card frauds lol, does that mean they are better than every ethnic group??
Politics › Re: Obasanjo Supports Malawi Government: Condemns Homosexuality As An 'abomination' by SEFAGO(m): 12:54am On May 27, 2010
No, I didnt  wink. You cannot get a warrant from a state defence attorney to break up polygamous relations lol. The US respects the rights of individuals to do what they want in their house lol.

However, they try and prevent somethings with laws. People's fundamental rights are still being protected, just that the Governement does not give them any legal status.

Further, the trouble is not about their homosexuality, but the fact that they "celebrated their engagement" which I do might be contrary to the law of some countries.

Hold on I am missing something here . . .

Gamesmart:
So to cut it short, you are saying there are laws that ban it, it is not recognise by the federal government as you can not formalise it and people can be charged to court despite being consenting adults?

So it is not a fundamental human right then?

But yet, they are using that argument of consenting adults to tell Africa to legalise homosexuality and allow marriage/civil union?
It is not banned again lol. You are using the wrong words. Considering the fact that it is law, I got the right to be worried about semantics.

Homosexual cohabitation is not recognized in most parts of the US too. So whats your point?
Politics › Re: Ex-anambra Governors Daughter Arrested In US by SEFAGO(m): 12:23am On May 27, 2010
really- she is a doctor- she would be aware that it is possible to get addicted to the drug. I would never use those drugs. And Nigerians rarely get addicted to anything. Its not like if the drug she was taking was extremely addictive. I doubt she was taking the drugs for herself. She was likely selling them to someone for money on the side.
Politics › Re: Attending College In Eastern Nigeria by SEFAGO(m): 11:53pm On May 26, 2010
Sometimes, I see the crimes committed by some of these people I am always impressed- they are very innovative I must say. Like the guy who married his daughter brilliant father- so that he can better the future of his daughter.

What Yoruba people will not do for their family. I am sure most of these crime offenders send all their money to take care of their parents. I dont see whats wrong, when people do pen crimes all the time.

Still waiting for Igbo money printers; its been 24 hours now. I told you that though some Igbos do bad things, there are a number of bad things Yoruba do that Igbos do not do (and the opposite is not correct). Printing fake money (not buying fake money from your brothers and trying to resell them) and marrying or sleeping with your own daughter in order to acquire British residency papers are some of those. Those 2 vices are exclusive to Yoruba. But I want you to prove me wrong.
What is intrinsically bad in any of these things. Maybe it just means yoruba are very crime resourceful unlike the ibo igbo

Errm seems Obasanjo negotiated beautiful, I wonder why all the brouhaha.

All this silly talk with claims to superior morality. Bertolt Brecht comes to mind whenever I discuss with individuals about the difference between right and wrong, his statement "Whats the difference between a jemmy and a share certificate? Whats breaking into a bank compared to founding one", captures human hypocrisy.

Abeg Malawi should focus on the massive corruption in their country joor.

But should sleeping with your daughter-in-law not attract similar harsh punishment?
Why though? Did he rape her? Or did she not agree?

If it is a fundamental human right, so why is polygamy unlawful in the US even if consenting adults want to engage in it? Why is there a law to block it? Why would the law not recognise it but recognise civil unions?
LOL  the polygamy law argument. So boring, and trite. Well I got a few minutes to waste. B4 you refer to US law be aware that there in the US there are:
1. Federal law
2. State law

Polygamy is recommended as a felony under the Federal Model penal code- which is a standardized set of laws that the state legislature use as a model to make their laws. However it is not illegal in some states. Moreover, although it might be a felony, it is rarely pursues as such. Especially in the case you have referred to as consenting adults with no formal engagements.

For example, I could have  eight wives  grin, and remain undisturbed. As long as I do not marry them formally (like in court) then I am technically not breaking any laws. However, they could cohabit with me. Then if my jealous neighbor finds out I could maybe taken to court- its 100% likely that the judge would drop the case out of boredom and the stupidity of the case, as long as the eight wives are not being assaulted or anything or there is no child abuse involved. Infact the judge would koboko the neighbor for wasting his time when there are homicides and despoiling going on in an already overstretched and litigious country.

Basically to cut it short, polygamy is not "illegal" in the US in the sense of the true sense. People practise polygamy especially the Mormons. I am sure Utah has very lax laws on polygamy because of the high proportion of Mormons. The only time it becomes a major problem when it involves child abuse, domestic violence and such.

By the way polygamy is not recognized in some states in Nigeria under our legal code, and even in lagos- but polygamy dey go on fine fine.

Moot Argument

Obasanjo, whose human rights record was questioned during his two separate spells as president of Nigeria, denied that consenting adults have a right to privacy in their own homes. "What is the privacy of your home? Why don't you take an animal and say look, the privacy of your home, you want to make love to a horse? Bestiality. You say that is right? No.

"If the privacy of your home means a socially condemnable act, then you have no privacy. You have done what you should not do and if the law says you should be punished for it, whether you do it in public or the privacy of your home, you have breached the law and you must be punished, according to the law."

Immediately after the interview, Obasanjo could be seen discussing the difference of opinion with Annan. Later, on his way out, Annan smiled and told the Guardian: "I'll work on him."
1. Consenting adults should have a right to privacy in their homes. Its a fundamental human right.
2. See the difference between Annan's opinions and trhat of Obasanjo. Annan is quite an intelligent man, although eh might be corrupt- aint all africans- obasanjo is as ignorant as african statemen go.

For those of you saying there is no hunger in Nigeria. I urge you to google ''Nigeria and hunger', 'hunger in Nigeria' and such topics
After exporting 118 metric tons of Yams, we end up importing 100,000 metric tons of rice. Isn't that stu-pid?

This is not about Nasarawa state, it is about the feds.
Are you retarded- someone told you that the problem is purchasing of the yams and not the amount of yams. If the demand for yams in Nigeria is high, there would be no need to export it anywhere. Have you heard of yam scarcity before?

Politics › Re: Two-party Or Multi-party System, Which Way Forward Nigeria? by SEFAGO(m): 6:19pm On May 26, 2010
Well another problem is that the two party system as it is used in the US for example are identified with an ideology. Democrats with liberalism, higher taxes for middle class/rich people. pro-immigration, pro-abortion, pro-anything lol, then the Republicans who are basically the opposite. This is usually not the case.

But anyways Nigerian parties are not associated with any political ideology and neither are they committed to the furtherance of any issue except stealing as much as they can, although it could be pointed out that they are divided across ethnic lines.
