I drive once in a while but I intend to drive for some months now to sustain my immediate family while I wait for my other investment to yield. So I drove on Sunday, after getting a "long" trip (Agege to Agungi) for 3500 including toll and taxify fee, I got about four short trips on uber all averaging 350naira per trip.

After three hours in lekki, I had less than 1500 net. That is ridiculous. I almost started thinking low of myself. Nobody should get less than 500naira an hour for any job. I know some here will talk about me feeling entitled and that drivers earn above minimum wage. Hell yeah I should feel entitled if I am putting forward my car and time to partner with uber/taxify. I should earn way more than minimum wage because I'm investing my time and property(car).

This pay should never be okay for anyone, driver or partner. Fine, we have to grind and make ends meet but we can also complain or protest for a better take home while we manage what we get currently. I'm sick of people attacking partners when they complain about uber/taxify unrealistic fares. These companies have succeeded in messing with the heads of some of us.
Because I complain bitterly about the fares doesn't mean I will stop driving immediately, but we should never be okay with this slavery whether we're doing it short term or long term.

You are very correct sir.

That's the peak of rush hour. He would spend every metre of the trip inside traffic.

It's a special grade of ignorance that makes people value their time & wellbeing in such a flippant manner. It's more than the amount of fuel you burn, you know. .

This is what I have been preaching. I decline one offline from Ijede this morning to Lekki. He want to go to Lekki 8am from Ijede and want to pay 4k. I told him 7k last.

I know one muntula will carry him and say sebi I will not use more than 1k fuel.

Not worth it,uber really scatter things for those cab drivers ooo..he dare not try that with taxi drivers

I do understand the bolded but most can't help it. Will you tell somebody that God have change his or her status from Tenant to Landlord to abandon his or her house to pay rent for a cubicle?

More so, Ikorodu is not what you people see it. Ikorodu is not far but the Danfo buses in ketu made going to ikorodu at certain time an issue. Ikorodu to mile 12 is 18km.

55-65% of people in ikorodu live in their own house. Comfortable house o and a good environment not the type of house that this is no good vent and children don't have compound to play.

There are more butty kids in ikorodu than on mainland. Good cheap schools. Not the 2 bedrooms schools that is common on the mainland.

Gazzuss, let me ask you why did you want to move to Ibadan and work in Lagos? Is ikorodu not closer to Lagos than Ibadan?

Some of yoù also think rent is cheap in ikorodu. Well, depends on which side of ikorodu.

Standard new 3bed in Ebute, Aga, Ipakodo and part of ibeshe area like 700k/per year. I have a rider around Domino that her tenant pay 1m for 3beds. Some Estates around Commentary going to Igbogbo. 3beds is not less than 1m.

Ikorodu is not what you guys think o.

You are very correct

See how people miss opportunities. When Farehz talks about positioning and being smart, some will eat him raw.

Ikeja to Abeokuta is 103km, to and fro is 206km. A smart driver knows that the hours of 10am-3pm are the less busy times and would have explored the opportunity first instead of dismissing and dissing the plan.

Anytime I enter uber, I try to engage them to see if I can meet anyone on this forum and I rarely do. So this forum is just a microcosm of the whole.

So my trip was a bit uncertain and I could not contact the first guy that indicated interest here till after 9am and he was on a trip far away. He was very courteous and I've just saved his number for offline trips.

Anyway I just booked a nearby uber driver and we negotiated. He knew Abeokuta and took me at 15k, I didn't want to press down the charge cos I know where it pinches.

Now a good 1.8l or less car will go to and fro with 4k fuel and have 12k without Uber or taxify cut.

Anyway we left by 10 and are back now (3pm). The roads were okay. The guy will probably continue his hustle and make 100k grin before the day ends.

Na u go give am 100k before the day ends abi

I have never driven on uber, and I was meeting my rental of #30k and servicing every month before I got another hustle

This job needs the grace of God(I believe in God grin), but then, it's more than just knowing how to drive a car

You need to learn locations, where to be at specific times of the day(even if it means burning a little fuel to get there)

You also need to set a particular target for yourself. Motivate yourself. There are good days and bad days. So when you get a good day, utilise it well..

People are still making a living from it. So don't be scared by the number of corollas you see on Admiralty on Friday night

Plan your self, and your strategy

And as VictorAD will sing, PRAY FOR GRACE MY GEE grin

Thank you so much

With my experience on the first day,i want to advice newbie that might want to do HP/rental,please think well before yoy accept 25k-30k and make sure you are on both taxify and uber before you even start.

I am only on uber and i must tell you the request is not back to back oo.and i think uber just love 1000-1200 and you will be surprise if they are actually giving you money for the fuel you used, without considering repairs.
It is well, las las we go still they alright.
If i am on rental or HP ,i will give up immediately but still seeing as it go sha..

Also please how much is toll for airport and lekki?
