wanaj0: The information provided is NOT enough to be able to provide you with good advice
Company Y made a promise, how good are they in keeping their promise? Yesterday I was discussing a guys situation similar to yours. He got an offer to go to Company Y with over 100% increment. He resigned to join Company Y only for Company Y to change the terms that they cannot pay what they have promised! He was made to swallow his pride and call the former company to withdraw his resignation letter. Because he was a good staff who resigned without burning the bridge, he was accepted back. Lesson: promises can change.
If you will leave Company X, don't base your judgement ONLY on the money. Does Company Y offer more challenges? Do they have better overall welfare package? Do they treat their staff with respect? Are they paying more to 'poach' a staff they've made no investment in? Are there training opportunities?
Apart from MONEY, what else don't you like about company X? In the industry what is the provision of company X compared to company Y? I can go on and on.
Conclusion: The information provided is NOT enough to make a judgement. @Wanajo. Exception can not be the rule. See the best thing is for the guy to move. My Guy stand a very high chance to be victimized both in the short or long-run. Exception do happens you cannot bank on it. Your resignation is enough to hanger some people and your salary increase is a threat to Management. Please move on prayerfully. All these advice would be helpful in making future decision. |

RabbiDoracle: A company is really interested in you only on 2 occasions:
- when you want to be employed - when you want to leave.
The latter was the reason X increased his salary.
X is not happy being forced to increase salary because he wants to leave. If he stays back, they will so deal with him that he will even resign. We know them well. See the guy is most likely going to be sacked. Now they know His secret busy searching for JOBS) |

safepaulooo: Company X is reacting to your intention to leave, not because it really appreciates you. Company Y has given you the offer because it appreciates you. Based on the principle of working for a company that appreciates you, I suggest you move on POLITELY. Be sure to do a double check on company Y by finding out from its employees about its standard and employee satisfaction. In truth there might not be much difference as most organisations are exploitative. It is said that moving increases your network and consequently your NETWORTH. ...debatable though. Enjoy...
That said how does the present plans to privatise Affam Power station affect the status of Transcorp. Seeing so much bid this morning.... Transcorp is actually a stock to watch! seems thing are panning out very well with them. |

rationalmind: I have an issue thats not related to this thread so I'll apologise for derailing in advance. I no know where else to get quality advice.
I have been with coy X for roughly 3 years, been stagnant with no growth. Few days ago, I received a call from someone, asking if I'll be interested in joining coy Y. I replied in the affirmative. Everything happened so fast and there's an offer on the table that's increasing my current salary by 176% and with a clear chance for career growth.
I have made my intention to resign known to coy X and they are offering to increase current salary by 136% and are virtually pleading I stay, promising growth and all that. Told them to give me sometime to think about it.
Me I need money badly and at the same time, still don't want to leave coy X on a bad note.
My people, wetin una go advice make I do. Bro, You don,t have to look back. The risk is higher now with your current company. They may ask somebody to understudy you and sack you thereafter this opportunity might have gone, that may leave you at serious risk. More so once you say good bye learn not to say otherwise to employer. They are after their work not about you. |

Agbalowomeri: My argument is why do we sell into a weak market? Yea, you need to cover your position, and make some profit. For example you bought FBN at N7 as at then it reached 15, you held on hoping for analyst N20. Weakness set in at 15, the price goes down to N12. Tell me what are you waiting for. You sell and take your profit off. You can hardly take all. The only guy that did that was Valacious- DF, I call for that when FBN reached N15 as well. Market weakness always start from the top. So the cavet remains don,t buy at the top. That is where Chart comes in. |

I'm not ok with this movement in stock prices. My gut tells me something isn't well. Discipline is the deal. I have almost 95% of my cash out of the market. Market still lives on even if this become a perfect Bull. We will have another bear. Not yet comfortable with this bull. |

rebekah2011: The 2017 figures ain't looking bad. MTN is dominant in this Nigeria market. No other Telcos seems to rival them in terms of making money. But like it has been for all IPOs in the recent years, my mind says wait. Some months down the line we will get it cheaper than the IPO price. Thanks. I mean private placement not IPO ? I appreciate your contribution. |

rebekah2011: Madam, please cool down. The FDIs are not in any Country to do father Xmas. They are here to make money. A number of us do not want to admit to certain things because it is against our stock move. Let us be more cautious so that we are not trapped. There is demand pressure on Forex. Foreign investors will like to repatriate their funds. It will be foolhardy for anyone to ignore the political risk too. Stocks cannot continue to go downwards, it will always rebound at a point. Let's trade cautiously so that our school fees will be moderate and commensurate. It is bull inside bear market. ( How long is the ) If you entered and got trapped. It is your undoing. |

stcool: wetin concern me with Skye & Wema. Diamond if put on sale any day has buyers, although I even doubt it will happen. They recorded loss, yes but they are also undertaking a massive project that would re-position them. I will advice you to take caution with Diamond. Allow the coast to clear. I new they have problem and are deceiving investors by selling off in UK and SA. Others are breaking new frontiers Diamond is contracting operations, to the discerning minds there are issues. |
