DeRuggedProf: This is meant to be understood within a very tight context. It is not every time your enemy offend you that you rush to war - TIMING. Chose your wars too. Not every enemy must be fought. Some will fade away with time, saving your weapons. Even the U.S does not act that way for very obvious reasons. The truth remains that TA tells you when to strike that sound stock (TA cant point a sound stock for you). TA is a friend to every stock. FA chooses its friends. FA gathers intelligence for smart TA wars. FA + TA = Money. If the bold is well managed. |

currentprice: I agree, FA with little knowledge of TA is good.
for example despite all the cheap cheap stock FA pointed to this days. when i check chart yesterday i got weak immediately
Very scary Chart. TA is saying not yet time to be in the market, if you are in it expect more down side. FA is saying if you are already in this market at this LEVEL ( Undervalue) don't sell your good stocks hold it. |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by sellydion: 9:29am On Nov 02, 2018 |
Agbalowomeri: You just have no business being here if you do not understand some TA, even if you are FA guru My humble submission Note: I have argued in the opposite before
The painful thing is that the fanatic FA guys are the loudest FA simple tells you which one is good or which one is bad. TA simply tells you when to act ( buy or sell or wait) depending on market behaviour. |

Thanks. No further need.If that is your only purpose. A number of sites have that even in Nigeria |

OGOg: I think implementation of the new minimum wage will bring temporary reprieve to the consumer goods sector pending when we get out economic policies right. It's like reflating the economy. If the current trend is not halted many businesses will collapse or leave the country just like in the 80s and 90s Until the government starts to protect our heritage in this country noting will change. China is sending them out of market. Access to Yuan or what is a bait. Competition is getting stiff per day with Chinese products. Some of our manufacturing companies will collapse very soon. |

Jejebabaa: NSE is not a place people should go long esp during a bear market. There is no point fighting the trend, I am guilty of that also. We are lucky this time that oil price helps to protect our forex exchange rate. I was a victim of 2014 crash and learnt my lesson in the hard way. Some of us were hit in double fold, our portfolio was down by almost 50% and our naira assets also lost another 50% compared to dollars esp. It was terrible for people who had their living expenses in forex. Imagine, you changed ur money at 160/$ to buy NSE stocks in 2015 and the same stock lost 50% and more. I remembered buying FBNH at 10 naira in 2014 fast forward to 2015, FBNH went to as low as 4 naira and naira started trading at more than 400/$. 1 million naira that was $6250 then bought 100k units of FBNH then, if u sold at 4 naira to meet unexpected expenses in $ then, u will end up getting $1000 if u changed it then at 400/$ which means ur $6250 investment then turned to $1000, that was 84% loss in capital. It's better imagined than experienced. This was just a case study then. I will never do long term of up to 2 years in NSE and I won't fight the trend. Jejebaba, This could not be the whole story now, I bought at N10 too. Average down to N7.5k, I was heavy buyer then. Having more than a million units. I collected dividend of more than N1m in the course of these years. I rode the draw-down till I got to 15% negative of which I sold,to quickly join Dangote Flour which I view cheap during this bull 2018, I got more unit in the process. I rode dangote till 17 naira. I eventually sold between 16 and 17. See my dear, different ways to profit in the market. In bear market do your due diligence and buy very low. Sell when the company become overvalue. W. Buffets do sell over valued companies. He was only patience during the period the under value company stays under. Comparing Dollar to Naira will not work. Do your biz in Dollars earn in Dollar. Do your biz in Naira earn in Naira QED |

stcool: Things like this is why I always stated that we are better off in this forum discussing mainly investment and stock education. But many quoted it out off proportion. You are right !!! the pages are full of irrelevances our education on the market has turn to personal gossip. Many actually come for different reasons not to know how to trade or invest but to abuse. We need to be more discipline than this. |

Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by sellydion: 11:33am On Sep 11, 2018 |
wanaj0: But in Nigeria, the investors know that there is no 'issue' with election. The risk in 2018/2109 is much lower than 2014/2015. In 2014/2105 you had a North vs South with associated tensions while 2018/2019 it is likely a North vs North.
Just read a report that the total foreign money in the market is only about $10bn. Our reserve can accommodate that I believe. @Wanaj0, thanks for various analysis. I strongly believe that, what is happening is beyond election. Anyway something must happen before something else happens. My opinion is that it is not a time to stake fund. It is time to watch and allow the market to wiggle down. The way the candles are looking is terrible with bad momentum no slowing down in view yet for NSE. |

''The most common cause of low prices is pessimism—sometimes pervasive, sometimes spe cific to a company or industry. We want to do business in such an environment, not because we like pessimism but because we like the prices it produces. It’s optimism that is the enemy of the rational buyer . . . we simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when oth ers are fearful''

Deadlytruth: For a coy to give you 100-200% capital appreciation based on fundamentals improvement alone could take up to two years. Coys which give such percentages within a few weeks to 3 months mostly do so on news of buy over by a foreign or local investor, or some other news eg. DF from 78Kobo to N6 between February 2016 and May same year; M & B from N1.30 to N 6+ within 7 weeks early last year, etc. You are right. However many people jump about looking for 15%, 20% and 10% all over the places. It is okay when the going get bad they start to make a lot of awful comments. |
