Africason:
Who in the UK watched SPOOKS yesturday? It was about 9ja and the oil business and how a British expat tried to sabotage the peace process in 9ja. . .  I found it intriguing to say the least. Here is the link:

Try watch the movie Blood and Oil pt 1 & 2. It's on the Oil Business and Niger Delta struggle in Nigeria. You'll find it more intriguing.

Phones › Re: Read What Text Message Has Done To Nigerians by semid4lyfe(m): 4:17am On Oct 13, 2010
mannygee:
Nigerians' spelling and writing skill and articulation have become worrisome since the use of GSM in the country. No thanks to the use of short codes in writing text messages. They are so ignorant of their poor spelling and writing skill that they even forget the existence of Dictionary. A West African Examination Council Officer (WAEC) also relates how some candidates used the text messages short code in answering Waec questions in recent times. That is how bad the habit is among the youths. A friend of mine who I shared this issue with recently also confessed how she was almost issued query for 'mistakenly' used the text message short codes in an official letter in her Office. What a menace. Hmmm, Nigeria - always one step forward, two steps backward.

The solution is just self-moderation; We should know when and when not to use these short codes.

Comment please.
Very true and it's common on Nairaland too. Text posting pisses me off so much. . .I've even had cause in the past to ask one or two people why they like text-posting.

Na GSM cause am. . .you know, the need to squeeze as many words into a single text message since the limit is 160 words (including spaces & punctuations) to save cost grin grin

Like you said, self-moderation is the key and one should know when to text-post or not. I send text messages quite often and whether I text-post or not depends on the person I'm sending the SMS.

Nairaland General › Re: Facebook Or Fakebook? by semid4lyfe(m): 4:45pm On Oct 12, 2010
Hmmm. . .I joined facebook about 3yrs ago cos I got tired of peeps asking me "are you on facebook?" and so I could answer YES to the question truthfully but up till now I haven't posted a single pic on my wall and I probably never will grin grin.

My opinion of facebook is that it's just a picture book and nothing more than a gossip site.It reminds me of those "Janet & John" books I read in Primary school. . .this is Janet, this is John. Janet has a kitten, John has a puppy. . .Janet is skipping, John is running lol grin. All I see on facebook are people bragging and showing off. . .see me o,I don marry. . .I had a beach birthday party, I don buy new car, I went to London for hols, I go galleria etc. I see all these pics and I'm like wtf! Am I supposed to be impressed or what? AND what a waste of time

I'm just on facebook for being on facebook sake. I hate am die and I hardly visit it unless I see some really interesting invites in my email.

Speaking about facebook, make I visit the yeye site now sef grin grin

Hehehe. . .I attended the same school as Deacon Ayo Ositelu's kids. In fact, one of his kids was my classmate.

I recall we used to yab him in class that his dad didn't know "nada" about footie and he only went to NTA sports studio to drink coke grin grin

This his position doesn't come as a surprise to me at all as it confirms what I've always known.

Do peeps still watch GUS? shocked huh
That show has been WACK since the second edition

Anyway, that Strongface guy is a dullard & a big blockhead. I can't for the life of me fathom how he couldn't solve a puzzle in which the following clues were given:
It starts with the same letter as the 7th musical note AND
it's a seasoning used in cooking

Simple logic:
1. Do Re Mi La So Fa Ti Do
The 7th musical note is Ti so the letter is T
2. How many food seasonings start with T?
Thyme should be the first thing that comes to anyone's mind.I mean, I had the answer figured immediately Bob mentioned the clue but annoyingly, all of them battled with the answer like se na complex algebra and Strongface was just the last to get it, hence his eviction

I nor pity the guy at all. If I be im papa, I go flog am when im reach house for disgracing the family grin grin

Nonsense!
