Slimshady11:The most likely reason is that we caused their extinction. We competed directly with them and they lost because we were more fit to survive. This article explains what probably happened based on the information we have: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-13874671 tempem:The way science works is that, if you make a claim, such as "life can't come from nonliving material", it is your responsibility to prove it. lordnicklaus:Creationists have tried to draw a distinction between what they call "microevolution" and "macroevolution". They accept that a wolf/dog can evolve into a different type of wolf/dog, but assert that a wolf/dog can't evolve into a coyote or a fox, since those are different species. This is contrary to the view of scientists, that evolution leads to the formation of new species gradually over time, as the changes accumulate. If creationists were right, you would expect there to be a sharp dividing line between species. Animals within the same species would be able to mate with each other and produce viable offspring, while animals that are not in the same species would be 0% compatible. You would expect the sperm of one species to not be able to penetrate the eggs of a different species not to mention fertilizing it, not to mention carrying the mixed embryo to maturity and giving birth to it. Not to mention having it grow up to be a healthy animal with intermediate features. But the reality is that the separation between species is fuzzy, which is consistent with evolution. Species that separated from each other very recently, such as dogs and dingoes and wolves, can mate freely with each other and produce viable offspring that can also mate with each other. Species that have been separated for longer periods, such as leopards and lions, can mate with each other, but their offspring are only partially fertile. Those that have been separated even longer, such as lions and tigers, or donkeys and horses can mate with each other and give birth to healthy offspring, but their offspring are mostly infertile. Some species can mate with each other but the embryos will be aborted. This fuzziness exactly what you would expect if evolution is true and species are formed by the slow accumulation of genetic differences. If God created tigers and lions, donkeys and horses, wolves and jackals, etc as distinct species, why are they able to mate and make babies? |
It always makes sense to have sex!TM ![]() |
What a stupid murder cover-up story. So the pastor made no effort to get out when he started suffocating? I don't buy it. They murdered him. |
mnairaland:It's hard to describe it in detail; I'd have to discuss it with examples, I think. |
cloudgoddess:I think this is the one thing that Sam Harris is wrong about, just as Richard Dawkins was wrong about rebranding atheists as "brights". A word means what people think it means. Words only change in meaning when a large number of people start using them differently for some reason. Atheists who are into "spirituality" just don't have those numbers. As someone noted earlier, the word is rooted in the word "spirit" which is something that does not exist as far as we know. Using the word "spirituality" to describe awe, compassion, wisdom, actually perpetuates the notion that those intellectual/emotional things are "spiritual" in the sense that most people understand the word, which isn't your goal. |
No words are too harsh to describe the illogicality of this decision. |
Check this out first: Because of differences in temperature and salinity, it is said that the North Sea and the Baltic don’t mix. True or hoax?Source: http://sciencevibe.com/2015/07/06/true-or-hoax-the-baltic-and-the-north-sea-dont-mix/ Empiree:Yes, science teaches us about a phenomenon called diffusion. If you pour salt water and fresh water into any container, they will mix. The mixing will not be very fast if you don't shake the container, but it happens nonetheless. The same laws of nature apply to the seas. Here again, Qur'an speaks:Knowing what I know now, I think this verse was simply describing a phenomenon that was known about in the time of the prophet. Because the prophet wasn't a scientist, he didn't realize that there was no actual barrier between the seas. That the 'partition' was only an illusion. |
KingEbukaNaija: QuentinDay:1. Can I have weak or moderate sexual desire for any woman? What is the threshold at which normal healthy sexual desire becomes lust? 2. So I can have a strong sexual desire for a woman I'm in a relationship with? My wife? My fiancee? My girlfriend? My friend with benefits? 3. Is pornography ok as long as you're doing it just to release after a stressful day and have no intention of sleeping with the actresses? Admiration is regarding something as impressive or worthy of respect as Seun was alludingWhat if what you're regarding as impressive or worthy of respect is not wearing any clothes? Like Kim Kardashian's "break the internet" photo? |
MDsambo:[s]1. The Quran talks about the meeting of two seas but the picture you provided is about the mixing of sea water with fresh water. Sea water is always salty while fresh water doesn't exist in the sea.[/s] 2. Even if we accept your misinterpretation, the fact is that the water in that picture is actually mixing. It's just that it takes some time. 3. Even if we accept the fallacy that they are not mixing, it is quite unlikely that no such phenomenon existed in the time of the prophet. Even if it didn't happen close to where the prophet lived, he may have spoken to a traveller who witnessed the phenomenon. |
If God created the yansh in question, how can it be wrong to admire it and worship God for it? |
JAkpayen:Unfortunately, this almost never happens and there's no logical reason to believe that it will happen this time. Wages are known to be sticky. |
How do they know she has been healed?? The only evidence we have is a change of clothes. |
dhtml18:Can you show me your best ios work? Thanks! |
Does someone want to do an app for IOS? |
Adesiji77:Ok, there is no longer any doubt about the fact that these guys are bleeps. What the Bleep is wrong with them? How can you drastically raise the MPR after acknowledging that the country is in a recession? These ppl will wreck the economy completely if something drastic is not done. |
gj22:There is a way you write code that makes it hazardous to modify it, and then there's the right way. We used to discuss this a lot on my team. |
lepasharon:Hmm. Who was being sarcastic? |
waice6571:What does being hungry have to do with hearing a voice? Doesn't your stomach make distracting rumbling noises when it's empty? If God created the entire universe by speaking it into existence, surely his voice must be loud enough to be heard by both the hungry and the well fed? In the evening, I was in the car with my two boys on a high speed (The road on my lane was free) approaching a serious steep slope and a double shap bend. I just heard from my inside ''break the speed" and I responded immidiately. Just within the fraction of a second an oncoming vehicle was coming headon with greater speed than my initial speed directly in front of me. I couldn't turn left or right I managed to pressed harrrrddd.... on my break. Screamings from the onlookers expecting the horror. But all glory to God we both escaped it.You don't need the voice of God to tell you to slow down when approaching a 'serious steep slope and a double sharp bend'. May I suggest that what you heard from inside wasn't the God's voice but the voice of sense? You were driving recklessly, but came to your senses just in time. |
I rarely post topics on the home page. Lalasticlala and Mynd44 are both Christians. |
We posted the story of the alleged resurrection of a Nigerian girl in a church. It seemed likely to have happened (except for the resurrection). |
One can tell whether or not a story is likely to be true, which is our primary consideration. If we are wrong, we will take correction and apologize. |
Has it been reported by CNN? Fox news? Any real media organization? Obviously if this story is true they will cover it soon. |
Religion strikes again! Obviously, the last thing a newlywed couple needs is a debt of 1.2 million naira. |
How can we verify the truthfulness of this tale? |
I used to read Spirit-Controlled Temperament. |
emeka2847:So I'm not the only one! |
How will ppl find out what the icons represent? |
Nice! Seems mobile only though. |
honourhim:Does God have mixed feelings when a person is being burnt alive by a mob? On one hand, it's murder. On the other hand, it smells so nice... ![]() |
AyaSunday:The first self-replicating molecule was assembled by chance in a soup of molecules in the sea. Physicists can take you back from there to the big bang, but they don't know what happened before that. I hereby confidently assert that a sexy self-created eternal babe was the 1st cause. |
Some women are often socialized to believe that they have the right to lose control and act irrationally when they're upset. This is what happens. |
