Yesterday we launched a topic sharing feature, which enabled Nairalanders to share interesting topics with their followers.

After observing the way the topic sharing feature was being used, we decided to replace it with the feature suggested in the quote below:

I'm pleased to inform you that you can now share interesting posts on Nairaland with your followers by simply clicking the (Share) button that appears under every post (except yours, of course).

You can also view posts that have been shared with you or which you have shared by clicking SP or Shared Posts(N) on the forum header.

Please post your suggestions, complaints, and observations on this thread.

Nobleval: I will answer that sire. Your pet stuff. It doesn't go down well with me...and others too. I can afford to scroll past them when I read your posts on the FOLLOWING bar. But sharing? NO.

It doesn't "go down well". What does that mean? Are pets offensive to your religion or something? What feelings do the posts cause you to feel?

It depends on what's available in your area. My vet store in Sango Ota doesn't have Arion puppy food, for example. They only have pedigree & jojo. So you can check the vet stores close to you to find out what they have and then we'll help you to pick the best one of the bunch. The best ones usually have a meat source listed as the first ingredient. Those that list grains as the first ingredient e.g. Pedigree aren't ideal. You should buy the 2 or 3 best brands/flavours of dog food available and feed a different one in each meal to keep things interesting for your dog.

Every raw feeder should own a deep freezer and a kitchen scale. These two things will make it easier to balance your dog's diet properly.

A growing puppy needs complete and balanced puppy food. You should give him the recommended amount of it daily. A home-cooked food may not give your puppy all the nutrients he needs for perfect growth and development, but puppy food from a reputable brand probably will. Once he is fully grown you can start saving money by switching to cheaper foods, but for now you should give him the best puppy food you can afford.

firstEVA: seun, this topic sharing would have been good if sharing were to only a particular person or group, not with all followers. for example, i am following you and do not gbadun the type of threads you share, so please remove it entirely or do some adjustments, thank you very much.

What kind of threads do you "gbadun" and what kind of threads have I been sharing, from your point of view. This is a honest question.

Nope, not that one. The feature we're working on was suggested by a well known member on this thread yesterday morning. Keep guessing.

Actually, the change we are making is to introduce more sharing, not less. Someone actually suggested it on this thread. Can you guess?

Ignore the topics that don't interest you. Hopefully they'll be in the minority.

If the "share" link is clicked user should be able to select who they intend to share a thread with.

This was considered, but it makes things too complicated. Follow people whose interests are similar to yours and ignore the topics you don't like!

Burger01: Seun, I think the Share counter on the forum header doesn't reset to nill after you checked the share. Like I had two share from Ishilove, I clicked on the shared topics to read through. Then I reopened the forum homepage, still my share counter remained two.. take a look on that..

What's your shared topic count at this current moment? What network were you on when this happened?

No, but it doesn't matter because you will only be notified once for each topic (thread) that is shared with you.
You can unfollow people who share too many topics that you don't like, though, since it means your interests are not similar.

My dog only knows two commands: "sit" and "down". I've been too busy (or lazy) to buy more hotdog treats and teach new commands, but when he wants anything - food, attention, freedom - I make him "sit" or go "down" or do both before giving it to him. Despite all our practice, sometimes, he still sits when I say "down" if he doesn't want to put his head down, or lies down when I say "sit" if he's tired and would rather lie down.

The next thing I'd like to teach him is to "stay" in position while sitting or lying down. I hope this will make it possible for him to "stay" indoors when I'm working. When he's indoors he keeps asking for attention, and once he stops getting it, he immediately wants to go out to work.

If you don't like someone, that doesn't mean that everything about him is bad. If you defend someone, that doesn't mean you like everything he does. I agree with the consensus that GEJ does not appear to be very effective at his job, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care or try.

I'm not saying that GEJ is solving the problem effectively. I'm saying that he certainly wants to solve it. People are going too far when they insinuate that he is deliberately failing. If he sees the it as an embarrassment, then surely he would want to end the embarrassment, right?

That does not logically follow from what I'm saying. I'm saying that it makes no sense for GEJ to fail at his job on purpose. It's one thing to say that his efforts are not effective and quite another thing to say he doesn't care. It makes no political sense for him not to care. Even if he truly doesn't care on a personal level, he must surely care that his continued failure to beat Boko Haram is destroying him politically.

What leads you to believe that he is not bothered? Do you live in his household? Do you regularly attend national security meetings?

systematic disintegration of Nigeria is going on under a president that is happy to weaken the army to prevent a coup d'etat rather than equip the army to maintain territorial integrity of the country.

What makes you think he wants to weaken the army? Hasn't he been raising their budget? Why'd he deliberately destroy his own credibility?

Idrismusty97: Don't worry, When the admin implement a dislike button you would see who dislikes your post. Being able to use the users disliking a posts will reduce unnecessary dislikes out of malice and discourage those disliking a posts with multiple monikers.

Yep, we're considering that, though it will likely lead to reprisals. "Dislike my post and I'll dislike all your posts!!"
