henry007: some from the mastiff family. the tail just curves on the side like an open safety pin and does lil or no waggingWhich mastiff breeds specifically? I can find no evidence that what you are talking about is not a breeder's faboo. Pictures and videos please. |
henry007: what do you suggest for breeds with lazy tails (doesn't wag)?If some dogs in a breed have "lazy eyes" that don't see, what do you do? You castrate/neuter them so they don't pass on their defective genes! I can't find any evidence of the existence of the "lazy tail" syndrome though ... which breeds suffer from that problem? |
oluomoadebayo: I think it's cruel to dock tails of dogs. Just my personal opinion sha. It's not just your personal opinion. Tail docking is banned in the UK and almost all developing countries. It's a barbaric practice that must end. South Africa has not yet banned it because they haven't finished banning barbaric practices against humans, but eventually they'll ban it too. |
mayorall: friends I saw a rot today. I discovered the tan on the four legs is very bright like that of GSD. Then I told the seller I.want the dog to be intelligent like GSD.so I want mix GSD and rot. Then he said I should look from the Tan colour on the four legs, She inherited that from her Father, so the father is GSD. I just told him I will come for it later.Dude, stop trying to buy a second puppy. Take good care of the one you have. You do not know as much as you need to know in order to be successful as a breeder. For example, you do not know that Rotts are very intelligent, you don't need to mix them with GSDs for that. You don't know that people are not interested in buying cross-bred dogs; that there is no market for the offspring of mongrel dogs. I've lived with dogs for a long time. When I went to buy my dog the seller kept trying to convince me to buy two but I said I can only handle one dog. |
Jcob: 16 months old gsd. Your views. Parents pictures not availableWith adult dogs, what you see is what you get, as far as looks are concerned. If you like what you see, you can buy the dog. She is not going to grow any taller. However, true beauty is not skin deep. You should also investigate the dog's behavioural history and health. |
INNOisBACK: Seun You had to delete a thread just because some lunatic stormed in and began derailing... It seems the Anti Gay bill also affected your psyche... You used to be neutral... Anyways wah can i say? It's not a bill anymore. It's a law. The president signed it into law. The law bans gay marriage and gay meetings e.g. the thread I binned. |

oluomoadebayo: Is there any sign of lump around the scratch area? If not i think it could be normal.I often massage the ears when petting the dog. The only lumpy thing around the ears is the muscle that controls the ear. Nothing else. Check for any flea or tick.We found a small tick on his body (not the ears) when the vet doctor checked him but I have since sprayed him all over with Fibronyl which has always worked perfectly for our other dogs. I sprayed the back of his ears but I was afraid to spray it directly into the ears. Should I? How often did you exercise him?I don't walk him because I don't live in an estate, and because he pulls like a bull, but we have a long compound, so we play fetch every day with tennis balls and other throwable items. We usually stop when he gets tired, which on some days doesn't take as long as one would expect. Mynd44: Ear wax......Wow, you may be right. I saw some brown crusty stuff inside his ears yesterday night. I'll clean it this afternoon, but I'm worried that the stuff really bothering him is deep inside the ear where the cotton wool won't be able to reach. In order to clean the innermost parts I'll need to pour liquid into the ear canal and then allow the dog to shake it out, but the web says this is bad if his ear drums aren't confirmed to be intact. |
oluomoadebayo: indomie or rice is just a filler that have no nutritional value for our 4 legged friend.Actually, it is not a pure filler. It has some nutritional value. Dogs developed the ability to digest cooked starch around the time that they were domesticated. The enables them to survive on human garbage and cooked table scraps. However, it stresses their digestive system. |
Adorayble: some say dey come to press dem wen they r asleephttp://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-paralysis some say they see shadows and all dt...http://www.ehealthme.com/cs/malaria/hallucination |
hunthsmankennel: none that i know ofPls don't cut the puppies' tails. Dogs communicate with their tails and ears. If their ears are floppy then they need their tails even more. |
Sunbellar: Absolutely risk free. Just like normal term deposit. No |
henry007: No I don't think you can handle a rott....start with a German shepherd or boerboel.Yes, a German Shepherd is a good choice. I don't think a purebred Boerboel is any better than a purebred Rottweiler for a first timer, though. |
Sunbellar: You don't need to pay withholding tax. The rate is determined by daily changes in market index. The last time I checked, it was 11.78%. You can contact me if you have reasonable sum to fix.Is it risk free? |
My dog's behaviour suggests that there is something wrong with his ears. Any time I interact with him, he will shake his head at least once. He also regularly brushes a side of his head (usually the left) against walls. He often starts making a funny noise and brushing his ears with his paws while lying down. Then he'll get up and shake his head again. Once in a while, I'll notice that that he has one ear straight and the other at an angle with his head bent to one side. Then he'll shake his head 2 or 3 times. According to my research, these are all signs of ear problems. I invited a vet doctor (the only one I know) to see the dog, but the dog didn't shake his head while the vet was around (it seems that he is able to ignore the discomfort when he's being alert). But at one point he had one ear up and the other ear bent to the side. When we pointed that out, the vet laughed and said it's nothing. He looked at the ears very briefly and immediately concluded that there's nothing wrong with the ears. He said the dog is not pure and the crossing may have caused his ears to be a bit funny. He gave the dog a bunch of random injections including "an antibiotic" which he said will "flush out any infection" at the cost of about 8,000 naira. He also suggested that if the dog has any parasites in his ears, the Frontline anti-tick and anti-flea spray will be "absorbed into his body" and travel to his ears to attack the parasites. The next day he called me to ask if the dog has improved. I told him the dog still shakes his head a lot. And he laughed. I don't know why. So my dog still shakes his head very frequently. Not constantly but often enough that it is clear that it is not normal. I've lived with many dogs. I'm afraid that if the issue is not treated in time, his hearing may be affected which is not going to help his security duties. I'm also afraid that the frequent shaking will cause a hematoma which will require an expensive surgery that will cause his ears to become floppy. This happened to two of our dogs many years ago (this vet doctor was the one who operated on both of them, after failing to treat the original problem) If this ear problem causes permanent damage to the dog, I won't be able to keep him. I need a dog that is in perfect health. Please help me! |
nitrogen: Its the truth. What rates can you get from FBN, MM and KGIF at the moment, after deducting withholding tax? |
Bamz: Seems FBN MM and KGIF seem to be better than NTB at the moment. How did you arrive at this conclusion? |
@promise2020: Can you post pictures of your dogs please? I think you should just continue to enjoy your dogs. The dog business is not all that. @henry007: Thanks a million for the explanation. So foetus is the cheapest meat in Nigeria! What do people use it for, apart from feeding dogs? |
mayorall: Thank you sir. Not really for breeding for now, training and nurturing her to learn more about Dogs before investing so much into it as she is my first petI think this is awesome. Don't let the breeder distract you from your original objective. Let this puppy enjoy 100% of your attention and money! |
10 Likes to you sir. All breeders should take pictures when their dogs are mating so we won't have any doubts about the purity of their puppies. |
Have you lived with dogs before (e.g. as a child)? If not, then getting a Rottweiler may be a mistake. If so, then it may still be a mistake. Rottweilers are not as aggressive or wild as people think they are, especially when brought up with love and proper training. They are very smart and trainable and can even be funny. However, they are dangerous for two reasons: they are really, really strong (making them hard to control physically) and also have the strongest bite force among popular dog breeds (which means a bite from a Rottweiler will do more damage than a bite from a GSD for example). So if you don't have the required experience to raise the Rottweiler right, the consequences could be catastrophic. If you still want to get a Rottweiler, pls get one with a tail. A docked tail makes it hard to read the dog's emotions and this causes accidents. |
If those are the parents, then I think the puppies are worth buying. Can you ask them for the pictures they took while those dogs were mating? |
Pictures? Age? What does it eat? How much is it selling for? |
uzoexcel: have a question, 'why did lord varys's leave with the imp onboard that ship?'Lord Tywin was dead and Varys played a role in helping the perpetrator to escape from prison and find his way to Lord Tywin's bedroom. If he didn't leave, he would be dead in a short while. |
oluomoadebayo: The breed standard for a RottweilerHis muzzle is far too short. He will not able to keep his body cool as his black coat absorbs heat from the sun. He will have no stamina. |
oluomoadebayo: Nothing is wrong with the pup, he would have all his ears erected by 6 months. This makes sense but I can't find any picture of a pure malinois with floppy ears at 4 months. Sojiwee, pls post pics of the parents. ![]() |
Your puppy looks healthy and happy. That's something I always love to see! Did you buy her for security, breeding, training or as a pet? |
Why not post pictures of the dogs you have for sale and the selling price on the forum? |
