todaynewsreview:She broke Naomi already. Twice. ![]() |
Azarenka is outplaying Naomi. She's dictating the play even when Naomi is serving. She's making Naomi have to run all over the back of the court. |
Friendlyjoe:I love Naomi but her game this year has been hit and miss. Her serve comes and goes. Sometimes she makes a lot of errors. I hope she wins. |
Naomi Osaka faces Victoria Azarenka in the final of the socially distanced tennis tournament. Players and officials wear masks. Victoria Azarenka is in great form. She won the Cincinnati Masters last month; after Naomi dropped out from the final due to an injury. She also defeated Serena Williams to get to today's final. Serena defeated Vika 6 - 1 in the first set but lost the last two sets 3 -6, 3 -6. Naomi Osaka has a very slight handicap. She's playing with her thigh taped up to prevent the injury from flaring up again.

Very confusing. What was savings account interest rate before the change? |
The governor cannot possibly be serious. Hopefully he is just fishing for comments. Most schools have over-crowded classes and hostels/dormitories. They can not implement social distancing if all the students resume. |
When you wear a surgical mask, please use the nose pin to shape it snugly around your nose. If you do this properly, (1) the mask will move in and out as you breath, and (2) your glasses will not be fogged by the water vapor in your breath when worn with the mask. Failure to do shape the nose pin properly allows air and the germs in the air to bypass the filtering material of the face-mask, which endangers you and the people around you. This is a big mistake that a lot of people are making. Please don’t be one of those people! |
knowhowk:The Ogun State government has done next to nothing to enforce physical distancing and face mask usage in Sango Ota. The only people enforcing it are large stores, schools, and a few banks. However, I’m only a little bit worried about people getting infected at Oja Ota because it’s an open area and the weather is quite sunny lately. Based on contact tracing, super-spreading is way more likely to occur indoors. The wind, and the sun’s intense heat and UV radiation are detrimental to the spread of the virus outdoors, but we need to wear masks to be truly safe. |
Kudos to this man for working very hard, but based on what has happened in other countries, with churches, schools, and some other high risk establishments reopened, the situation can go from great to terrible within a few days. |
donnie:People won't have to receive one of the vaccines but those who aren't immunized may have to continue wearing face-masks and distancing. |
Bucky312:Bill Gates thinks that for rich countries, things will be back to normal by the end of 2021. He expects poor countries to suffer a while longer. |
knowhowk:Yes, but it’s best to confirm your status with a test because other diseases can cause COVID-like symptoms. The viral infection could be followed by a bacterial infection of your lungs. SlyIg:In states like Lagos and Abuja, yes, but without an antibody test, you can’t be sure that you are one of those people. You might stop taking precautions thinking you already got it only to end up getting it for real and spreading it to other people. |
How unfortunate. He comes across as the most serious government official in the fight against this virus. |
There are many other terrible things in that law. |
MsAllison:Ask her to try again |
gnss:People all over the world have reported this. To answer your question: Akiko Iwasaki, an immunologist at Yale, offers three possibilities. Long-haulers might still harbor infectious virus in some reservoir organ, which is missed by tests that use nasal swabs. Or persistent fragments of viral genes, though not infectious, may still be triggering a violent immune overreaction, as if “you’re reacting to a ghost of a virus,” Iwasaki says. More likely, the virus is gone but the immune system, having been provoked by it, is stuck in a lingering overactive state.Source: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/06/covid-19-coronavirus-longterm-symptoms-months/612679/ AIT1:It could be totally eradicated if all the countries in the world worked together to eradicate it within their borders at the same time. That level of global cooperation, coordination and competence is inconceivable to me. |
mzhazel:I feel that your family friend, as a doctor and a responsible person, during a pandemic, must have distanced himself a little bit while waiting for the test results, and that may have been sufficient to limit the spread during that period. Also, some of you may have been infected but asymptomatic. I don’t find the story to be strange at all. |
Juliusmomoh:Your immune system fights the virus. In most cases (80%), all you need is good nutrition and rest. But it can also kill you if you are unlucky. wenig72904:Our hot weather drives the rich into their air-conditioned cars, offices and malls where the disease spreads very quickly. Whereas, on our streets and open markets, the heat and ultraviolet radiation of the sun deactivates virus particles on the air, and the wind carries them away, providing some protection to the common man. When the poor are indoors, they open their doors and windows, which helps to disperse virus particles. The sun that poor people are exposed to produces Vitamin D in their bodies. Vitamin D deficiency is correlated with severe COVID symptoms. There’s also the travel connection others have discussed. CodeTemplar:Terribly. We are 'more likely to die or require hospitalization' |
Hello, If you have random questions about COVID-19 or the Coronavirus, please post them here to be answered by our resident doctors, scientists and web researchers. This should be fun and helpful. |
Lovexme:I’ve often wondered how church attendance would be affected by this lockdown on the long run. Pre-Corona, lots of people had attended church every Sunday since they were kids. After being forced to break that habit many of them will not go back to it. It’s very nice to rest at home on Sundays. |
[s]This reopening is a bit of a joke since services are limited to 50 people, but I think this requirement makes the services potentially safe if they keep records of the people that attended each service and follow other precautions faithfully. It might not be a complete disaster.[/s] Apparently the story was misleading. Churches will open at 50% capacity. That is a terrible idea. |
Lovely. Looking forward to test kit and reagent factories, as well as vaccine factories. |
Afam4eva:Many countries all over the world have “pariah dogs” that scavenge on human scraps and garbage. They are usually small and very independent, with short, light brown coats. They are not a breed, but breeds have been created out of the more unique specimens, such as the Basenji, Canaan Dog, Carolina Dog, New Guinea Singing Dog, INDog, etc. The Nigerian Ekuke is not a breed but perhaps we can create a useful breed out of the ones used by hunters. why don't people like them?Honestly I think the main reason is their small size and their generic look. People don’t feel impressed or intimidated when they see a local dog. |

ethicallyright:Which device you were using when this happened? Which page did you open when this happened and does it happen again when you go back to the same page? Which network were you using to browse Nairaland when this happened? Without the above information I can't do anything. I urge anyone who experienced this to provide those details. |
I hope trinity123 is right. Codedrock, try searching YouTube for videos of cats in heat. |
Too slow. |
I would like to get a papillon too. |
This virus is a lesson to the whole world on the importance of having intelligent leaders who understand science and economics and are imaginative and logical in thinking. The world has suffered because people in major countries have voted for leaders who are totally clueless about how to handle a crisis. |
kitogram:I can't afford space travel. Even if you offered me a ride, there's nowhere out there that I want to go. Space is hostile to life. Earth is my home. |
dahgifted:Students of tertiary institutions are very mature and independent. 80% of them won't have a problem with taking lectures over the Internet and studying from electronic handouts sent to them by e-mail. They only need to be physically present to take tests and examinations, which can be conducted very safely outdoors with extreme spacing and face-masks like they do in South Korea:
