The only good thing about these whole depressing scenerio is that our northern youths seem to be Slowly liberalising. The old conservative generation whose way of life gave rise to Boko Haram is dying off with their atarvistic beliefs. Our beutifull Hausa maidens are emerging in their glory..We will all be better for it.

This change is only happening among highly educated or rich Muslims. Northern Muslims who lack education and wealth are just as fanatical as they have always been.

All religions support speaking out against practices that are contrary to the religion. The only difference with Islam is the use of violence to force people to obey them. I think obedience to religion should be by choice. Don't you agree with that?

DATED 20TH OCTOBER, 2020.

Due to the new development of violent attacks on police officers and men and formations including innocent Nigerians in Lagos State, and the 24 hour curfew imposed by the Lagos State Government with effect from 4pm of today 20th October, 2020, the Lagos State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that henceforth no protest or gathering or procession, under whatever guise, is permitted within Lagos State.

In the light of the above, all security agencies have deployed adequate personnel to take charge and enforce the curfew across the state.

In the same vein, the command regrets to confirm the setting ablaze of Orile Police State today at about 10am, where some of our policemen were critically injured and unconfirmed reports state that one of them is dead.

It's crystal clear that the Endsars protest has been hijacked by hoodlums who want to run down the state and the police command will resist such state of anarchy, unrest and brouhaha with all powers within the ambit of the law.

While the command is resolute in sustenance of human rights and democratic tenets, the general public is hereby warned to comply with the curfew and desist from any act of violence in the state as the command will resist such in totality.

I stand against police brutality, and I am deeply depressed about how this situation has become messed up. I also stand against violence.

The Governor of Lagos State posted an update on Twitter about the above, which says:

Dear Lagosians,

For the clarification of the general public and in view of the inauguration of The Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution into SARS Abuses happening tomorrow, I want to put out the terms of reference of the panel.

The ToR are essentially the following...

* To listen to & take evidence from all victims or the families of victims of SARS abuse within Lagos State (somewhat akin to what the Truth and Reconciliation Committee did in some countries). This would enable all victims & their families air and vent their grievances in public.

* The Judicial Panel after listening to victims or their families would then determine whether any victim or the dependents of such victims are entitled to compensation and the amount of compensation payable.

* Upon determining the compensation payable, the Judicial Panel is to immediately issue a check in favour of the victim or their dependents.

* The Judicial Panel is also to determine the officers (or anyone for that matter) responsible for abusing any victim and to recommend the prosecution of such persons.

* The Panel shall also have powers to make recommendations to Government on how to ensure that the Police and all security agencies never abuse the rights of citizens again.

* The Panel has the powers to compel and summon witnesses to appear before it. The State Government expects the Panel to use these powers to ensure that all necessary parties appear before the Panel to testify.

We identify wholeheartedly with the calls for reforms of the Police. A better run and administered Police force would undoubtedly be to the advantage of the Government and all residents of the state.

Our stance is Zero tolerance for Police Brutality. The setting up of the Judicial Panel is a very important step in the journey to reforming the Police. We urge all citizens of Lagos to partner with us in this journey.

We appreciate and recognize the efforts of the youths which has made this necessary change inevitable.

Good Morning.

Sorry, I had to create a new account to post here, as my main account is slightly known in some other parts of the site. I also do not know if this is the right place to post this.

I'll do my best to make this as orderly as possible to better help the esteemed consultants here better understand my matter.

Symptoms started: Sat, Oct 2017, 2020.

1pm
- Elevated heartbeat (97 - 115 bpm)
- Slight fatigue
- Running & blocked nose
- Last BP check (131/70 @ 8pm)
- Heavy face and slight headache.

6pm
- A little stiff feeling in chest. Worsens when I lay down.
- Little stitch at left side of chest (just below left nipple).
- Cough
- Sore throat

9pm
- Chills
- Feeling hot, but have to cover up (Fever?)
- Deep breaths between words.
- Completely blocked nose
- Can feel my heart beating even when laying down and completely at rest.
- Slight pain at my sides

I have been on allergy treatment for the past week, and will complete the dosage in another 3 weeks.

Meds I'm currently taking
- Predicure prednisolone 5mg tab
- Zyncet hydrocloride 10mg tab
-Actifed tabs for cold
- Flixonase Aqueous Nasal Spray
- Orange Vit C tabs

That's pretty much it. I have 3 questions, but I'll welcome more advice from anyone that has more to say.

1. Do I have covid?
2. Am I in the high-risk category (of fatalities because of underlying conditions)?
3. What do hell do I do now? grin

If our government followed the South Korean practice of publishing the details of every case, there would be less skepticism. Transparency helps.

The elections were conducted during the day, under the sun, with compulsory wearing of masks and use of hand sanitizer. Once people had finished voting, they left the polling centers. Many countries have conducted elections with similar safety rules and recorded very few cases.

Day schools can open safely with precautions, too. The students must wear masks, with physical distancing, windows and doors kept open (with ceiling fans if needed), and students must use dividers if they need to eat in class. With these easy rules, day students will be quite safe.

Boarding schools are way more difficult to keep safe. This requires draconian rules that very few teachers will be willing to enforce adequately.

The loftier the plan, the lower the likelihood of success. The reform I'd like to see is an end to the abuse of power by armed forces personnel. This includes brutality, extortion and torture. No officer should ever slap a person unless the law says that the officer must slap them. The path to achieving this is the punishment of those who abuse their power. There must be penalties for slapping, beating, or killing people unnecessarily.

When I hear people talking about re-opening universities, I think about cases like this one that have been reported in many, many countries.
High density living environments are inherently problematic because people don't wear masks when they are at home i.e. in their hostel rooms.

Osaka broke Azarenka a second time to win the second set. Things are looking good for us Naomi fans.
