Anyway First Bank is a very strong bank, anyday anytime.
I doubt it. Any business that treats its customers badly cannot be strong. Aferall, UBA wasn't stronger than STB!

If he has not asked for your hand in marriage, yes! Most of our women don't have anything to offer besides sex.

Christianity Etc › Re: Kissing Hank's Ass - Religious Logic Exposed by Seun(mod): 9:11am On Mar 22, 2007
I'd say this one is more insightful but less humorous because it targets catholics and ignores faith-healers.
Business › Re: Ethics In Capitalism by Seun(mod): 8:55am On Mar 22, 2007
Your above discourse is misleading. There are rules that govern the business structure of a society. If you flout any of the rules, you may be subject to being penalized.
Yes, I forgot to mention the basic moral element of a capitalistic society: respect for private property. Fraud is wrong, it has to be, because it's an indirect form of stealing which is a violation of the victims' rights.

However, many rules businesses are forced to abide by are unecessary, wasteful, and downright stupid:
IF capitalism allowed businesses to practise their own ethics, then we wont be having a set minimum wage for the masses, because some entrepreuners would cheat their employees out of their paycheck.
Um, everyone should know that minimum wage laws are stupid by now. See www.yaf.com/minwage.shtml

The bottom line, is that while the publishing industry can decide which advertisements to accept in their magazines/newspapers, at the same time, they have to adhere to the rules of the governing body of the country. So, while a magazine could (without any conscience) accept funds, in exchange for a placed advertisement from a tobacco company, they have to post a disclaimer (whether they like it or not) about the health defects associated with smoking.
I don't think I meant to imply that mostly-capitalistic economies have no laws or regulations.

Christianity Etc › Re: Kissing Hank's Ass - Religious Logic Exposed by Seun(mod): 11:11pm On Mar 21, 2007
But I believe that it is only a severe emotional experience that can detach someone from a religious belief
I think I said that first! (Yes, I'm hungry for credit, so give it to me!)
If lucky, some traumatic life events combined with the seed of doubt will force a change later.
Business › Re: Ethics In Capitalism by Seun(mod): 11:10pm On Mar 21, 2007
No, I don't see the conflict. Ethics is a personal thing. What is ethical to me may not be ethical to you. Capitalism in a mostly free market system allows you to practice your own ethics and allows me to practice my own ethics.

They probably don't talk about it much. As long as she gets to indoctrinate the kids, she's happy. (just guessing!)

nferyn: Why am I not surprised
Hehe! I used to think satire could make people change their minds.
But I found out that only those whose minds don't need changing will get it.
The rest would just see it as 'lies' or 'unwarranted insults' against their idols.

To change people's minds, one can only prepare them by debating logically and directly.
If lucky, some traumatic life events combined with the seed of doubt will force a change later.
Failing that, people will never change their political or moral or religious beliefs. Ever!

Where does that leave satire? It's a great tool for entertaining the converted, if nothing more. No shame in thatwink.
UPDATE: well, there's something more. It can be used to get back at annoying bigots. <<evil grin>>

Romance › Re: Loving Someone And Screwing Someone Else by Seun(mod): 10:34pm On Mar 21, 2007
Come on Seun - you know that honesty and romance do NOT mix.
I know. I'm saying maybe they should.

Honesty is a good thing, and romance and sex are good. Why not mix them? Dishonest romance isn't worth it!

for some reasons, I kind of agree with seun on this
Glad you do, but I don't really practice this. I don't think I understand this matter enough. The psychology of it.

Business › Re: Investing In Nigeria: How Risky? by Seun(mod): 10:21pm On Mar 21, 2007
Okay, maybe I exxagerated a little. My motto is "better safe than sorry".
If he really wants to invest, nothing can stop him, anyway. He just has to do his home-work.

However, from the little I have seen, Nigerian employees tend to need very close monitoring. Being here is not even a guarantee that there won't be fraud or gross negligence. They will lie and cheat whenever they can get away with it, especially if they think you're a naive Americana. They will refuse to accept any blame when discovered.

There are exceptions to this rule. Example: my humble self. I am perfectly trustworthy, righteous, and blameless.

@Ka: sharrap, where is your own clip? You just came here to show us how smart you are, right? Mission failed!

@nferyn: nice! Sometimes, people need to interact with like minds. I think satire primarily benefits those that get it.
Business › Re: Investing In Nigeria: How Risky? by Seun(mod): 9:52pm On Mar 21, 2007
Trust me, it's better to warn investors in advance than to allow them to waste their investment and end up bitter.
A bitter investor who has lost his capital can do far more damage to our image than the act of telling the truth.
If he heeds our warning and invests with caution, his success will also be our success. That's what we want. wink

Romance › Re: Loving Someone And Screwing Someone Else by Seun(mod): 8:41pm On Mar 21, 2007
I've not yet practiced that concept, but it seems like a honest way to live.

The dating game involves a boy telling a girl that she's the love of his life when he is merely interested in sex.
And if a girl just wants to spend some of your money in exchange for sex, she has to act as if she's crazy in love.

Why can't we just play the dating game in a honest manner? Why can't we pursue sex for sex and love for love?
Romance › Re: Jilted For Lack Of Experience by Seun(mod): 8:32pm On Mar 21, 2007
Is this "love"? Methinks we are better off remaining single instead of making a mockery of the concept of love.
He loved her so much, that after one bad sex session he dumped her? Yeah, that must be love. Rubbish.
