was to cover the cost of registration for a year and also the cost of a reflective riding coat, and helmet.
Hmmm. This is just a free meal for the contractor hand-picked by the government officials to supply those materials. Why not just educate people who use okadas often to buy their own helmets? I don't know, I don't know. sad

They pay to buy their motorcycles. They pay for fuel and for repairs.

Hehe. People are so gullible. Obviously, the 13,000 naira registration fee is what the government is concerned about. The okada riders played into their trap by engaging in violence, but the government initiated it.

The government shouldn't demand money from okada riders, period. This is pure extortion. Don't be decieved!

Poor Okada men what will they do now
What people do when they are deprived of their means of livelihood? They'll go into crime, of course. angry

Nigerians are good at promising but bad and delivering. My advice: search for a turn-key solution. Cheers!
FamilyRe: Concept Of Male Privilege by Seun(mod): 3:09pm On Jan 26, 2007
Some chauvinistic old men formulating the story of creation realised (as an after-thought) that they needed an explanation for the existence of those inferior females, so they simply coined one. smiley

I guess that's good advice. It won't change them, but it will make them easier to bear.
TV/MoviesRe: The Oscars 2007 by Seun(mod): 2:35pm On Jan 26, 2007
yes, borat got nominated. . .the title of that movie is so long.
I'm typing this from memory: Cultural Leanings Of America For The Make-Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazhakstan!

Every word in that title is supposed to be funny, but I don't understand what "make-benefit" means.

but what is a movie like that doin in the oscarshuh i wonder what criteria they use in chosing these movies.
It's a very insightful movie that deals with the serious topics of racism and religious prejudice.

TV/MoviesRe: What Happened To 'Bachelors For Life' On STV? by Seun(mod): 1:57pm On Jan 26, 2007
Thanks a million for asking that question. That first episode was shown twice, and then they just dissapeared. It would have been the first quality sitcom ever to be produced in Nigeria. Please, Bachelors, I miss you!!
HealthRe: How Will I Know If Am Not Hiv Positive? by Seun(mod): 1:22pm On Jan 26, 2007
The good news is that "something moving in your body" is probably not HIV,
so you should visit a good and patient doctor for a proper diagnosis. That doesn't mean you don't have HIV. wink

CrimeRe: Honour Killing by Seun(mod): 6:37pm On Jan 25, 2007
I like Hausas and Arabs because I find most of them to be honest,
but I don't feel comfortable doing business with them knowing that they can turn murderous anytime.
Religion/culture indoctrination is to blame, but the father is more to blame for allowing himself to be indoctrinated.

casper, A typical Nigerian husband wouldn't allow your Aunt to develop such a passion. I bet she's unmarried.
TV/MoviesRe: The Intern Show (Reality TV) by Seun(mod): 6:20pm On Jan 25, 2007
At stake at the end of the Intern show are real prizes. The winner of the Bank PHB Intern show takes home a package comprising N3million cash prize, a brand new car, automatic employment, a brand new laptop, an MBA scholarship at a Business School and a full executive wardrobe. The first and second runners up get cash prizes of N1million and N750, 000.00 each. They also get automatic employment, brand new laptops, MBA scholarship at a Business School funded by The Intern TV Reality Show and a full executive wardrobe.

The rest of the seven (7) finalists each get automatic employment, a brand new laptop, and cash equivalent of points earned during the show. Besides these awards participants get experience that puts them above their contemporaries.
I think it would have been more dramatic for the losing contestants to get absolutely nothing instead of automatic employment, a brand new laptop, and some extra cash. It's very hard to feel sorry for evicted Interns who have been guaranteed automatic employment and free laptops. Or what do you think? This is television, afterall!
