Health › Re: Should A Dead Man Be A Father? by Seun(mod): 8:11am On Jan 29, 2007
All those potential complications do not apply in this case. If the main actors in the case - the parents, the dead man, the surrogate mother - are not complaining, why should we? Human happiness is more important than "ethics".

TV/Movies › Re: The Intern Show (Reality TV) by Seun(mod): 9:06pm On Jan 28, 2007
Saw it on STV during the last hour. The lighting is much better, but the coverage remains poor.

Maybe the problem is that the show is being broadcast live. If that's the case, then it's not necessary - Ultimate Search wasn't broadcast live. An editor will need lots of time to mix in the outdoor footage to spice up the show.

I don't want to listen to young men like me speaking corporatese to ogas. I want to see them in action.

Christianity Etc › Re: Ogboni Frat by Seun(mod): 7:10pm On Jan 28, 2007
The Ogboni fraternity has just about as much spiritual power as the average pentecostal church.
However, I think they have some non-spiritual powers that make them far more dangerous. Read between my lines.

Islam rising in today's world? I can hardly believe it. I feel that all religions are going out of fashion.

She thinks you're trying to say,
"Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers? If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?" with no success.
Politics › Re: Death Penalty For Exam Malpractices In Nigeria? - Satire by Seun(mod): 7:01pm On Jan 28, 2007
Seun, in law, the penalty must be proportionate to the offence comitted, you hear me so!
That's my point exactly. I'm a satirist. I love to make my points by saying the exact opposite of what I believe.

I am opposed to the use of the death penalty for any crime, although in the case of mass murderers I'm neutral.

Family › Re: Should Wives Submit To Their Husbands? by Seun(mod): 6:53pm On Jan 28, 2007
To "submit" is to believe you have to do whatever your husband tells you to do even when you disagree with it.

To "submit" is to treat your husband as a superior: kneeling down, saying "yes sir" when he barks out an order, etc.
Politics › Re: Nigeria Is Less Corrupt This Year - Transparency International by Seun(mod): 6:50pm On Jan 28, 2007
Corruption to me is when the government steps outside its primary responsibility of protecting freedom.
Family › Re: Would You Marry An Actor Or Actress? by Seun(mod): 6:48pm On Jan 28, 2007
Actors have to try a wide variety of roles to maximise their chances of finding fame. The moment you try to control her movie roles , she will find herself having to choose between her marriage and her career. If she's a really ambitious actress, guess what she'll choose? Her career, of course! Actors do not get noticed by "plain and simple" acting. You don't get to the top by compromise. I don't want to be found standing in the way of my wife's dreams!

TV/Movies › Re: Needs A Movie Script Buyer by Seun(mod): 6:34pm On Jan 28, 2007
My opinion is that, if you pay for content you judge to be interesting and original, writers will be encouraged to produce more of that. It doesn't even have to be a competition, it can just be an invitation to submit scripts. Cheers!

TV/Movies › Re: Any Fan Of 'Charmed' Here? by Seun(mod): 6:25pm On Jan 28, 2007
I'm a fan of the three spooky sisters. They have a sense of humor that is refreshing for a supernatural drama.
Politics › Re: Is Nigeria A Failed State? by Seun(mod): 6:19pm On Jan 28, 2007
But Seun where and how do people start a business with no capital?
How are people able to browse the Internet with no capital? Everybody has at least a little capital.

The state has a duty to provide jobs
The state has a duty to keep criminals and other enemies of progress under check.
The state doesn't have a duty to create jobs. Moreso the state doesn't even have the ability to create jobs:

To create a job, you need to employ people. In order to employ people, you need to pay them every month. In order to pay people every month, you need to generate the money legitimately - by engaging in business. But engaging in business is not the duty of the government, it's the duty of you and I. If engaging in business is the duty of the government, then we are living in a socialist state. If engaging in business is the government's duty, what is ours?

Politicians, are very cunning. They promise jobs knowing that it's not their duty to provide jobs, so that gullible people will vote for them. Once they get into office, of course, they won't deliver - because they can't.

I don't want to hear that people should set up their own businesses!
Every adult needs to learn to face reality. Putting your head in the sand won't make your problems go away.
TV/Movies › Re: Nu Metro Cinema, FCT, Abuja by Seun(mod): 6:09pm On Jan 28, 2007
Wow. So small. One doesn't even need a cinema to show a movie to 100 people. One can just use a TV set.
