Politics › Re: Why Do You Have To Kill In God’s Name? by seunfly:
Callotti: Christians also kill in GOD'S name!
Religion is like a very potent hallucinogen. . .it gives a false air of superiority not to mention self-importance.
The worst culprits are CHRISTIANS AND MUSLIMS! kiss
That is a true muslim always try to justify or point accusing finger at others. Well to me the answer is who is your leader (the founder) did he fight to propagate it or he sacrifice himself to propagate it? That goes along way to determine what the followers too will do. No matter what is written somewhere, peaple will do what he does, than do what he wrote or said.

StarFlux: Luckily, the first once are easy. I will write them for you with tones. (The letters below are the proper letters, but this site won't let me write dot letters with tones).

To read: Láti káwè.

Bicycle: Kékè.
(ẹ ẹ)

Sit there: Jókòó níbè.
(ọọ) (ẹ)

Peaceful: Onìrélé
(ẹ ẹ)

I don't know what it is calm/peaceful now would directly translate to, sorry. Maybe gbogbo onìrélé ìgbá yìí.
well you are trying am happy that you are able to know all this within short period of time particularly the tonal effect which i myself yoruba guy did not know.
However:
Onirele means humble peaceful means irorun, calm means jeje

To me apple always behave like a spoilt child who always cry over a small pinch while they always give others heavy blow without complain, now they want to turn others to crying baby like them. This is going to affect consumers and network operators.

kokoa2008: @seunfly thank you for your very informative answer. I guess in that case I would get a blackberry as well. Android phones are easier and cheaper to get here but you will pay extremely high cell phone bills every month. Before I changed my plan I was paying 230 USD per month which is around 36,000 naira per month in any monetary denomination it's extremely expensive. I was talking to a friend from Germany who told me the phones are more expensive but the service is cheap. Can the same be said for phones in Nigeria?
the phone is equally expensive here too since network provider does not subsidies for phone as it is done in america also the service is very expensive.

StarFlux: HellO!

I've been reading up a little on Yoruba dialects. As I understand it, standard or written Yoruba is a mix of these dialects. I am a bit worried that I will have problems understanding Yoruba in oral form.
How well will I be able to fare in for example Eko when speaking standard Yoruba? That goes for both understanding and being understood. Are these dialects mutually intelligble? I assume after some time spent, I will adjust to the dialect, but just as a question of interest.

There are a couple of Yotube clips with some of these dialects, and they sound a bit distinct from each other. That's why I'm wondering.
we have standard yoruba which i think is oyo dialect, this i think every yoruba person understand. You can try find that oyo standard and you are good to go.
Politics › Re: "PDP Is Losing Members" - Bamanga Tukur by seunfly: 2:06am On Sep 12, 2012
yohanna zack: Meanwhile, pdp wil be a powerful political party if, they stop imposin candidates on the masses, go fo a condidate that merits a position, fight wats wrong and suport wats right, denounce corruption in its entity, and above all, ensure that their state govonos perfom mandatorily, and the federal govt must be ready to yield result.
infact that is what gives them that power. Corruption, non performing governors, figure head house of reps and senators, and imposition of candidates all ds makes them bigger and stronger because they don't demand anything good from you, if you are paying ur dues. So useless politicians join them and other who may have good agenda but not seccessful will also compromise and join them. To me i belive jonathan is better than this it is PdP dat is reducing his potential.

Did they want power or Developments, i don't know what is wrong with our peaple. I may not be in support of Oga jonathan, but the ethnicity and regional colouration in which we choose leaders is making me go gaga. I don't mind who is the president ijaw, igbo, hausa, yoruba, fulani, nupe, ishekiri, edo etc in as much as it inprove health, transportation, electricity, employment, education, security and it guarante the future of generation to come. Am a Yoruba but what did i benefit from Obasanjo's tenure 7years for 5years course due to ASUU strike, am Hausa what did i gain from Yaradua's tenure economy slowdown and birth of Boko Haram, am an Igbo what did i benefit from ironsi when he was in power a choking unitary system of government that is affecting us till today. We better stop all ds nonsence of tribalism, regionalism, ethnicity and pull him down politics and support the man that will take Nigeria to prosperity.

I know our leaders can do more with the resources they have, but we too should try and appreciate the little they v done while we also remined them they can do better.

Am tired of Nigerians it is lyke we are suffering 4rm something, i don't know. Virtualy we never see anything good in our self, to us our pastors are fake while we keep mentioning d names of some pastors abroad, made in Nigeria goods is bad and we keep on inporting inferior product and use it with pride, our language is vanacular while we speak another man's lang with pride and castigate peaple who could not speak or write it properly, our culture as turn rubish while proudly celebrate another man culture, our money suffer while we adore and flash dallars, euro and pounce, no job in our nation yet we create jobs outside the country with our national money. The only thing we are good at is to downgrade our own, abuse our tribes, figth over stupid things and distroy someone who is coming up.
