adabeke12: if there are only 5% good Nigerian girls then the men are -00001%. and the truth they say is definitely bitter
Adaeke you have not tell us why Nigerian men are bad, agreed they are, but please give us some reasons just like we mention the weakness of Nigerian girls. If u can tell me then i will tell you where they got it wrong.
Romance › Re: Should I Marry My African American Girlfriend? by seunfly: 6:07am On Sep 26, 2012
@OP why have Gold and you are searching for stone? no Nigerian girl will do this for you, no sacrifice in thier dictionary.

tpacalipse: Na you sabi. Truth is always bitter. Blackberries, icecream, meatpie, diamond, silver, gold, always demanding without bringing anything to the table. Yes I have met them all and I can generalise. And I know what I am talking about.
Na true you talk jare before you can see any good Nigerian girl is either she is truly and deeply religious or she is overtime and want marriage unfailinly. others 20 to 27(years) they turn men to ATM and always demanding. No money no love

@ADABEKE you may talk for ur self may be you are part of the 5% of the good one.

StarFlux: Hello!

I have a new question.

It says in my book that láti dé means "to come back", but I thought the correct word was láti bò(ọ) or láti padà wá. It seems to be contradicting itself, unless these words means the same thing.
de means arrive, bo means on is way back or return, wa means come. But de and bo can mean thesame thing depending on how u use them, while you can also use wa to mean(de or bo) since it is direct opposite in meaning u just need to twist the sentenses for ur meaning. Eg oti pada wa ile( he/she has come back home) ohun bo wa ile( he/she is coming home) oti de ile(he/she has reach home.
In the first example note "pada" which negate the word wa this give it a new meaning. Therefore they all mean the same thing but can't use them in the same way. Lati de and lati bo means to arrive and to return which still mean same thing.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Calls For The Abolition Of The Senate by seunfly: 9:21am On Sep 19, 2012
Well scraping of senate thats will be good, but considering the tendency of the house of rep abusing thier power if they are the only existing house make me think twice. For checkmating reason let them be, we should try and cut cost as average senator in Nigeria take home $1.8m per anum apart from advance extortion they do to all government agency called oversight function.

On REC why will president do everything? We are still using millitary dictatorship style of governments.

Many of us when we travel abroad, we will come back and condem our governmets for not making our enviroment like that. But one similar enviromental law we will complain and say all manner of things(grammar), the truth is that Nigeria is due for many laws that can improve our enviroment, psycology, mood and general well being that our law makers are shying away from because of this criticism. As a trained enviromentalist, enviromental psycologist, enviromental health manager and landscape achitect i will even encourage them to go a step futher. You may not knw the enviromental impact of somebody who build on all his/her land without given space for green(trees, flowers, and space) in his compound, no toilet, overcrowded house and other abuse all in the name of poverty. Nigerians should rather find out about some instead of complaining and condeming.

With the way he dished out his Yoruba jealousy inspired 'facts' you would think he is the owner of Orient or he is the chairman of 'Anambra basin board or he personally carried out the exploration in kogi himself.
where have you ever seen that oil has been explored anywhere in kogi? link us, you fraud!
I know thare is oil well in ibaji that was drill by ELF pectrolium in 1995 but was caped and abandoned because it was not prolific enough since they are not refining it and they will need large quantity for exportation. How ever anambra basin is mainly in anambra state and before the well in anambra will start producing oil will be around may 2013. I don't know why 0bi did not say this.

They have claimed part of YORUBALAND in this thread but because of your CARWODICE, you failed to see it. It is a pity cowardice is in your veins, Anophelles Yorubie.
What you peaple are doing is unwarranted acclaimation and this is a sign of not being in control, trying to always want to prove more than you have. This actualy show you don't have it. You don't defend land on nairaland and what you say here does not realy have any meaning outside world. So if this is where you want to show how brave u are, no challenge but you can't force anybody to react like you since we have diffrent mental psychy. But its a known fact that peaple who watch and take final and decicive action are better than peaple that react to situations like you peaple. Reaction is a symptoms of lack of control while action is a product of taking control.

Auwal88 i taught you said this thread is not to discredit GEJ, Why do you have to modify your topic when you see that peaple are not falling for your topic? Am still not jonathan fan, but once again can you please point to any Northern president that has rule Nigeria for more than 40years to write thier own achivement out like GEJ does now, not even education, railway, power, health etc did we know what is called foriegn reserve during any northern president before Obj. Please tell me any major book writen as achivement of any northern president that is not about war, coup and counter coup, killing of inocent peaple particularly igbos, suspension of Nigeria from diffrient comitees of nations and organisations. Please let him finish his 4years, then we will judge him, but not with sentiment which you aim to achive here.

ifyalways: @Starflux and Seunfly, the all is calm now was actually my translation for Adetutu for which someone claimed it wasn't right.

So,how would you guys translate the name Adetutu ?
smiley
Ade means crown, tutu means cold. But tutu can be use figuratively to mean gentle, easily, calmly, sweet, peacefully and sometimes abusive(not smart). But in this context, Adetutu mean gentle crown(name given to girls).

hrhobi1: Lagos to Ibadan is about 45 minutes by road. So why the need for a train? is it to make the journey 15 minutes or what ? Why not Lagos to-Ogun-Ondo- Benin-Asaba- Onitsha- Enugu and to the north, which is economically viable to me. Just another waste of funds. IBADAN THAT OLD DIRTY CITY FULL OF RACISTS, IF YOU DON'T SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE YOU BE OUTCAST.

Mavor: it would have been economically viable to link lagos to the east via cargo and pedestrian rail. Lagos to Ibadan for $1.4Bhuh You chop I chop.
well you make alot of sense, linking Lagos to porthacourt via the east with cargo and passanger train, also Lagos to kaduna-kano via Abuja on both cargo and parssanger also will help Nigeria alot. But i guess this is phase 1 and remainig phases will continue from Ibadan.

Take heart... U can guide you kogi all night
What a greedy individual you are, just because you want somebody's resources haahaa!!! Will you be happy if you are the one they want to steal his resource like that? Now am begining to smell foul and comspiracy on path Orient oil, peter obi and anambrarians used Jonathan as a pawn. Don't get me wrong am not 4rom kogi neither am i from north central, but the truth must be told.
Politics › Re: Obi : Anambra Owns Disputed Oil Field by seunfly:
So judging from this quote. The oil is within Anambra River Basin which spreads to Enugu, Anambra and Kogi (just like orient company stated) but one state is trying to lay claim of all the oil found within that river basin and claiming it's only there's been drilled despite the owner of the said company in question said otherwise.

This post kinda contradicted the orient company comment before the whole dilemma started

Shouldn't the orient company owner be the ones telling us where they drilling as oppose to the deputy governor? SMH. So all this has a political agenda behind it. Wow, greediness is not a good thing. Like I said the best way to solve the whole problem is for Orient company to leave the one in Kogi state and focus on the rest. In my opinion that is the best solution that would benefit both states. After doing so, if Kogi state still lay claim to Anambra part of the oil then take they should just take it to the court. As of now, both states are of fault
The fault is from both sides,
1 The managment of orient oil who dellibratly ignore kogi state in media declaration of the oil wells, if kogi had not talk we wouldnt know anything by now.
2 The president who just declare something without doing his assignment on the oilfeild, presidential declaration is very important, cos it means alot especialy a country like Nigeria with more power.

For Peter obi i will not blame him because they call something good your own, offcause he will not reject it, because it is not only oilfeld that will be anambra but the entire land and resource around. If you are futuristic economist and resources manager you will understand what it means.

Maybe that is why one of them said we have money but we don't know how to spend it. Andre Uweh: Sometimes I wonder at the rate some stupendous Nigerians reason. How can some one called Nze-Ogwu is not Igbo.
How can some one who made Ndigbo loose I million souls not Igbo?.
For that F.O.O.L who said Nzeogwu is not IGBO, his cranium should be opened up and his brains thrown to the dogs.
It is not his action that lead to killing of thausands of igbos, it is the inaction/betrayal of the comander of eastern army who decided not to do his own part in that area and this leads to ethnical suspicion fueled by BBC report. To me he should have been the father of modern Nigeria just like Jerry Rollins of Ghana, but unfortunate some backdown in a suspicious manner. To his families and children i say some of us still see him as our uncelebrated hero.

JallowBah: How do you use it in food?

I also use coco oil on me and the kid, but never tried that in food either, although I know many use it f.ex cooking.

I like natural things..
i know peaple that use it for cooking in central Nigeria(kwara state), though they use it for African stew, jolof rice, fried rice and frying of fish, meat, chicken, plantain and others. Although they use it, not because of the health advantage but because it is cheaper than processed vegetable oil. In such place peaple belive only poor use it as when the food cool, it tend to solidify making you to alway warm such food(hot) before eating.

ogugua88: Both.

More than likely, money has to be spent to woo a girl. It doesn't have to be a lot. Small, sentimental things like boxes of chocolate, cards, flowers, (cliche I know) aren't up to $7.

In that same token, it's very hard to win a guy in 2012 without showing some affection. She doesn't have to go all the way but some kisses and cuddling can seal the deal lol.
my friend box of chocolate, cards, flowers, and kisses is not what it takes to woo average Nigerian girls O, infact no kisses for you without money for her hair, her broken/stolen/damaged phone, her project/clearance/registration fee that she mistakinly spend, her recharge card/ blackberry subscription or money for one thing or the other. Oh plus take me out now all the time not because she want to be with you O but she just felt like........

Now don't get me wrong am not saying all of them, as i know many who are not like that but majority are like that and that seems to be latest in town now.

StarFlux: Also, how would you say "all is calm/peaceful now"? as asked previously.
it depend on the context or cercomstance. Eg if it is a response to greeting or question you will say (dada ni gbogbo re bayi) means 'all fine/peaceful/good now', however if it is within statments you can say 'bayi gbogbo re nu se jeje/daradara/iroru'. Which means all is calm/good/peaceful/well now. We use all ds words interchangably denpending on the cercumstance.
NOTE: all this interpretation are common yoruba spoken on the street, it may differ abit from litrary yoruba, and becarefull because i did not put the signs.

Culture › Re: Nairaland Official Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba Dictionary by seunfly: 6:29pm On Sep 15, 2012
StarFlux: I just checked with my dictionary, since I was in doubt after your comment. It does say onirele means peaceful (peace = irele). But peaceful is synonym with calm, so their meaning is very similar. When it comes to jeje, it also says that when used as an adverb, it means peacefully/quietly. And according to this book,http://books.google.no/books?id=CzUV4oKBiSIC&pg=PA66&lpg=PA66&dq=jokoje+yoruba&source=bl&ots=rGwHC8hVWV&sig=qZwOlAFglbj5XYvM3GhoVvUQKJc&hl=no#v=onepage&q=jokoje%20&f=false
jokoje means sit quiet(ly). So I believe this is just a case of synonym-crashing, and nuances in the language when it comes to meaning. All in all, languages can rarely be translated with 100% accuracy, so I would think in this case no one is wrong.
So after my research, written Yoruba or standard Yoruba (it's based mostly on Oyo and Ibadan dialects, but there are aspects from other dialects as well), so it might differ a little bit from the spoken dialects, and it that case, the blame is on me.

Also, how would you say "all is calm/peaceful now"? as asked previously.
Ok o my friend and goodluck in your Yoruba adventure. Don't hesitate to seek my help if you need. Odabo oremi.

Metalgoong: Obi says Anambra owns disputed oil field

The Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi on Thursday dismissed claims made by some groups and states over the ownership of the oil well discovered in the inland basin of Aguleri-Otu, Anambra East local government area.

President Goodluck Jonathan and the Anambra State governor, Peter Obi during the president's working visit to the state

Addressing the state in a special broadcast at the governor’s lodge, Awka, the governor said the financial commitments of the state in the oil project running in billions which other states and groups laying claims have not done.

“Since then some groups and states have been trying to lay claims to the ownership of the oil fields located in Anambra State.

“It is pertinent to recall that Orient Petroleum Resources Plc was formed during the government of Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju in 2001 and allocated oil fields domiciled in Anambra State.

“Though Dr Mbadinuju did not make any direct monetary contribution. Under Dr Chris Ngige, in 2002/2006, Anambra State government invested the sum of N100 million in the project. Under our government between 2006 and 2009, with the vision and the belief in the positive impact of the project on the economy of the state and the country, we invested directly and indirectly the sum of N4.4billion.
/
Just because you invest in refinary or even in the oilfeild does not make you the owner, british invested in Nigeria oil does not make them the owner. All i know is that the community may not knw the truth as they are usualy pawn in the game but the leaders on bothside knw the truth and they should follow the path of truth irrespective of who owns the oilfeild.
